Green braces one hand against the slick pipe wall and leans into the drain, feeling for the faint living pulse below the rust. Purple’s shadowlight pools ahead, revealing a split in the tunnel and scrape marks on the brace beside it.

Yellow drops in behind her, shoulders scraping metal. He keeps his weight turned toward the rear, scanning the dark mouth they just left.

The left branch stinks of rot. The right still carries breath.

The tunnel answers with a low, distant tremor. Dust trickles from the ceiling seam and the living pulse tightens, as if something deeper has noticed them.

Green, pick the way. I cover our backs.

Green reaches toward the warmer flow in the stone, following it past the split. Purple’s light shifts with her movement, throwing long, broken shadows down the chosen passage.

Learn what waits in the right branch

I step into the right branch, keeping my hand on the wall to track the pulse.

Green steps into the right branch, palm skimming the wall. The pulse answers through the rusted skin, steadier here, tugging her onward past a drift of dust and a slick of old drag marks.

The wall carries the pulse cleanly. It bends deeper than the split.

Purple’s shadowlight stays behind at the fork, and the divide opens between them as the passage narrows. The scrape lines on the brace fade into the dark behind Green, like a warning half forgotten.

I’m still on the rear. Keep to the right.

A thin breath slips through the branch ahead, cold and wet. It is not empty, and it is not waiting still.

Green, what do you feel up there?

The question hangs in the pipe while the living pulse tightens under Green’s hand, leading toward whatever is breathing in the dark.

Is something breathing ahead of us?

YES, AND MORE (VeryLikely, rolled 1)

She is too far ahead. The darkness is swallowing her silhouette.

A low, wet rattle echoes from the tunnel ahead, vibrating through the floorboards beneath Green's boots. It is not just a single breath, but a rhythmic, wheezing intake that suggests something massive is coiled in the dark, waiting for the light to fail.

I call for the other 5 Colossus to take the front and gaurd me

Take the front. Guard me.

The words carry down the pipe and bring the line into motion. Yellow and the others shift ahead of Green, forming a tighter screen between her and the dark, while Yellow drops back only long enough to cover the rear gap.

Green’s relic dims as she passes it forward, and the cold breath in the branch presses harder on everyone’s skin. Dust sifts from the ceiling seam in a thin curtain, marking how close the tunnel is to trembling again.

We hold the front. Keep close.

The guide remains outside the right branch, his torchlight refusing the turn. That hesitation leaves a visible split in the group, one line moving into the breathing dark, another still anchored at the fork.

From ahead, the wet rattle shifts into a heavier exhale. Green now knows the thing in the right branch is still there, but the sound is partly drowned by their own footwork and the scrape of bodies reorganizing around her.

I press the line deeper into the branch

Green moves the line forward, and the branch answers with a long, wet draw of breath. The passage stops feeling like a tunnel and starts feeling like a throat opening around them.

The others keep pace, shoulder to shoulder, while the floor dips under old runoff channels and cracked pipe ribs. Their spacing tightens without breaking.

Ahead, the dark swells into a chamber. The breathing sound comes from there, steady and huge, and the wet air carries a sour mineral stink.

Yellow

This space is wider than the entrance. Bad place to get split.

Green’s push carries them to the lip of the chamber. The torchlight finally reaches the shape in the floor, old drag marks leading toward a lowered pit rim, with the lost clamp glinting half-buried in silt.

The chamber exhales. Dust shivers loose from above, and the first clear path around the pit opens in front of the group, while the guide still stays back at the fork instead of crossing in.

Is the chamber threat awake now?

YES, AND MORE (VeryLikely, rolled 3)

The rhythmic wheezing abruptly stops, replaced by a wet, grinding sound of stone shifting against stone deep within the pit.

Yellow

Yellow

It is not just awake. It is hunting.

A massive, pale limb tipped with jagged, calcified claws crests the pit rim, blocking the only path forward and sealing the group inside the chamber.
