The Hidden Oasis shudders under a blackening sky. Green the Colossus reaches the outer ring just as grit slams in from the horizon, turning the air to sparks and dust.
Purple, Red, Orange, Yellow, and Blue are already at work. They haul scrap panels, lash salvage netting, and brace the perimeter against the coming wall.
The garden in the center flickers in the wind, fragile leaves bowing low beneath the first hard gusts.

Purple
Green, get inside the line. We are sealing this before the storm eats the whole basin.

Orange
If that east brace slips, I need hands on it now. No heroics, just muscle.

Yellow
She is hurting. Move careful. The air is wrong tonight.
Blue plants one massive hand against a trembling post as another shock of static snaps through the gate frame. Purple looks toward Green, then toward the garden, waiting for a choice.

Green the Colossus
The storm is reaching the oasis faster than expected.
✓ Quest Accepted
Fortify the Hidden Oasis garden
“I find a safe place to sit and hide while the others fortify the walls”
SUCCESS (Good Stealth, rolled +1)

Green slips out of the line and drops behind a stack of salt-crusted crates, where the wind only rattles the edges instead of clawing full force. From here, the others are half-seen shapes against the dust, still hauling, still bracing, still making the basin hold.
A torn tarp snaps overhead, then settles low enough to hide her from the worst of the grit. The garden remains in view through the gaps, small and stubborn, while the storm pounds the walls beyond it.
Yellow the Colossus
Good. Stay there a moment. We need you rested, not spent.

Purple
She can keep her seat. If the line holds, the garden lives.

Orange
Then let it hold. I have the east brace seated now, and I want one more knot on it before I trust it.

Blue the Colossus
The frame is calmer. Not safe, but calmer.
For one quiet stretch, the basin sounds almost domestic, hands working, cords tightening, wind hissing over packed stone. The storm stays outside the circle while the garden waits inside it.
“Orange, could you possibly construct a greenhouse to keep my garden inside and safe from the storm?”
SUCCESS (Good Negotiation, rolled +1)

Purple
Green asks for a shelter, not a wall. That is wiser than it sounds in this wind.

Purple
Orange, hear her. Build the greenhouse frame if you can spare the scrap. If the garden gets a skin over it, we buy time.

Orange
Then I make it work with what we have. Give me the braces, and I will shape the rest.

Yellow
I will help carry whatever he needs. The plants do not get left naked to this storm.
Orange nods once and already turns toward the salvage piles, while Blue shifts to make space at the frame. The labor line loosens into purpose, each movement now aimed at a roof that does not exist yet.
Purple keeps her gaze on Green a moment longer, then looks back to the basin, as if measuring the garden under an invisible shell. The storm still hammers outside, but inside the oasis the work changes shape.
“I help Orange gather salvage for the frame”
FAILURE (Terrible Strength, rolled +1)

Green leaves the crate shelter and hauls toward Orange’s salvage pile, but the first bundle slips in the grit. Thin ribs of scavenged metal clatter across the packed floor, stopping short of the frame.
Orange catches one brace before it can roll into the drain channel. He looks down at the scattered pieces, then back to the bent strip in Green’s grip, already seeing the mismatch.
Orange the Colossus
That one is warped past use. Don’t force it. Bring me the straight lengths and the corner clamps.
Yellow steps in beside the pile and turns the scrap with both hands, exposing a tucked seam under a sheet of insulation and a bundle of usable rods hidden beneath it.
Yellow the Colossus
Here. The good pieces are under the dead skin. Take those, and leave the bent ones for the outer skin.
The frame still waits open in the wind, but now the path to stronger support is visible, and Orange is holding the first straight brace out for Green to reach.
“I take the straight lengths and corner clamps”
SUCCESS (Terrible Strength, rolled +2)

Green gets both hands under the straight lengths, and the cache gives way. Corner clamps spill into her palm with the rods, the wind snapping grit against the pile.
The exposed bundle shifts in the mud, but she keeps the usable pieces from sliding back under the scrap. One clamp skitters away, lost to the drain.
Orange the Colossus
Good. Bring those to the corner first.
Orange straightens with a fresh brace in hand and steps back from the heap, making room for the next piece of the frame.
Yellow closes one hand over the remaining rods, then looks up sharply as a hard gust drives dust over the garden bed. The open frame now has support in two corners, but the central span still yawns to the storm.
Yellow the Colossus
Move. If the next brace does not seat now, the wind starts chewing the soil.

“I set the next brace into place”
FAILURE (Terrible Strength, rolled +0)

Green drives the brace toward the waiting slot, but the warped end catches on bent steel. The rod slides sideways instead of seating, and the frame shudders under the strain.
Dust kicks up as the misaligned piece scrapes free. One corner holds, but the new brace leaves the center span exposed to the wind.

Green the Colossus
The bend is wrong for this socket.
Orange the Colossus
Stop forcing it. That lip is twisted, use the other end.
Orange points through the haze at a narrower brace channel along the side frame, half-buried under loose scraps.
Yellow the Colossus
If she gets that side rail clear, the next brace can bite.
“I clear the side rail and set the next brace”
FAILURE (Terrible Strength, rolled +1)

Green hauls the brace free, but the twisted end tears a shallow groove across the side rail and skids past the channel. Dust pours through the gap she leaves behind.
The bend in the metal gives way to a better angle, though. A narrower fitting point is exposed under the loose scraps, clean enough to catch if someone can hold the frame steady.
Orange the Colossus
There, that line. Seat it there, not in the old socket.
Yellow the Colossus
I have the rail clear. Move before the wind shifts again.
Blue braces the gate frame from the far side as the greenhouse outline shivers, its open center now narrowed by the fresh alignment.
The side rail is ready at last, but the next brace is still not set. Above, the storm thickens the dust into a moving veil, waiting for the opening.
“I pull the dust sheet over the opening”
FAILURE (Terrible Strength, rolled +1)

Green heaves the dust sheet up, but the wind catches it first. The cloth snaps sideways, slaps the narrowed frame, and slips half off the opening.
The failed cover does not leave the gap bare, though. It tangles on the side rail and hangs there like a crooked flap, breaking the worst of the blowing grit for a moment.
Orange the Colossus
Good. Hold that snag. I can work with it.
Yellow digs his shoulder into the rail from the far side, and the frame stops shivering long enough for the cloth to catch on the new fitting point.

Purple
That is enough of an edge. Finish the tie before the next gust.
Above them, the dust wall thickens, but the opening is no longer open to the sky. The garden is not safe yet, though it is no longer exposed in the same way.
“I tie the dust sheet to the side rail”
SUCCESS (Terrible Agility, rolled +2)

Green hauls the sheet flat against the rail and starts the tie. Her fingers work fast, then the wind yanks the cloth hard enough to drag grit across her knuckles.
The knot bites. The dust sheet locks in place, stretched tighter across the opening, and the snag becomes a rough but useful brace.
Orange shoves in beside the frame, checks the tie with one quick tug, and gives a sharp nod. "That holds. Move the next rod in now."
Yellow keeps the side rail from flexing while the cloth flutters against his shoulder, the opening shrinking from a gap to a guarded slit.
Above them, the dust pressure eases for one breath, then surges again, but it has to fight through the new cover first.
The garden is not safe yet, but the wind can no longer pour straight in. The next brace can follow the tie, or the storm can test the seam.
“The team continues the construction process, getting the greenhouse set up just before the dust storm arrives”
SUCCESS (Good Athletics, rolled +2)

Green drives the next rod in with her shoulder, and the frame answers with a deep, solid shift. The side rail stops shuddering under Yellow’s hand.
Orange hooks the clamp home, then twists once. The brace locks. The opening shrinks into a tight, guarded seam.

Orange
That’s it. Feed the last span across, and we’ve got the front.
Green shoves the final length into place while the dust presses at the cover. The greenhouse skeleton holds, square and steady against the gust.
Yellow steps back half a pace, eyes on the seam, then on the garden bed beyond it. The storm can still strike the shell, but it can’t reach straight through anymore.
Purple raises one hand toward the others, a hard, satisfied signal to keep the line while the wind rakes overhead. The hidden oasis is boxed in at last.
