Adventure of Misty 1

Misty steps onto the first stair, and the forest falls away behind her. The hidden passage swallows the lantern light in green shards, while cold, moss damp air folds around her skin. Dust clings to the stone, old enough to feel untouched.

The staircase winds down into a chamber of black roots and pale mineral walls. The pendant at Misty's throat beats against her chest like a second pulse, stronger here, drawing the lantern flame toward a low arch ahead.

A hooded figure stands beside an underground basin carved with the same spiral, one hand resting on the stone as if listening to it. The figure does not retreat, but their shoulders tighten at the sight of Misty and Bram.

The Hooded Keeper shakes their head slowly, their fingers tracing the spiral carving without triggering any magical response. It becomes clear that they are merely a guardian of the site, not the architect of the binding.

Misty leans in, following the spiral with careful eyes. The carving is older than the basin itself, cut into the rim in nested turns and marked with tiny notches, like a map someone meant to read by touch.

Her fingers trace the grooves, and a hidden line becomes clear. The spiral is not the thing being guarded. It is a seal diagram, laid over a second pattern beneath the stone.

A faint chill slips through the roots overhead as Misty finds the final turn. Beneath the keeper’s mark sits an older sign, a binding knot pressed into the basin itself, and it answers with a dim pulse under her touch.

The keeper withdraws one hand, while Bram looks from the basin to Misty, waiting for her to choose whether to keep pressing the seal or pull back.
