Ancient marble stretches beneath Klause and Liora’s feet. His covenant-marked palm burns with a dark crescent as the Aleveria symbol brightens across the sealed crystal gate.
Letters unfold beneath the symbol in pale elven fire: LIVING COVENANT RECOGNIZED. PASSAGE BEYOND: WITHOUT RETURN. The inscription remains calmly illuminated.

Liora
Without return. That sounds less like a road and more like a choice the city expects us to make.
The buried wards answer before either can approach. Far below the avenue, blue and earth-brown light forms Caelen’s signature, faint but unmistakably alive, then fades into the foundations.

Liora
He survived. He is beyond our reach for now, but he survived. We cannot bring him back by forcing this gate.
The crystal doors part without sound, revealing a silver-lit passage beneath Aleveria’s ruined towers. Warm air carries the scent of roots, rain, and ancient stone.

Liora
The academy, our families, and Caelen are behind us. Before we enter, Klause, what do you want this chapter to end with?

Pass through the Aleveria gate
“I dont know, I didn't mean to do this everyone women, children men separated from there families and we dont know where every person in the kingdom arrived at they could all be dead*I cry out tears forming while spiral out of control and fall to my knees”

Klause larent
I do not know. I did not mean to do this. Everyone, women, children, men, separated from their families, and we do not know where they arrived. They could all be dead.
Tears form as Klause spirals, his knees striking the ancient marble. The dark crescent on his palm flickers, but the crystal gate remains open and still.

Liora
Klause, look at me. You did not choose to scatter them. The orb seized the route before either of us understood what it was.
Liora kneels before him, keeping her sword at her side and both hands visible. Behind her, the silver passage breathes warm air through the ruined avenue.

Liora
Caelen survived, and the route showed three steady points before it broke. That means the ward network carried people somewhere, not that it destroyed them.
The Aleveria symbol dims to a gentle glow. Beneath it, fresh elven letters appear: SCATTERED LIVES REMAIN WITHIN THE LIVING PATH.

Liora
We will find the path, learn where it sent them, and bring our families home if the gates allow it. For now, breathe, Klause. I am here.
“Ok, first*I take a piece of Caelons hair and use magic on it showing he is stuck in the demon continent*we cant get there”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled +2)

Klause takes a strand of Caelen’s hair from the lingering earth-and-water signature and lays it across his covenant-marked palm. He feeds mana into the strand, shaping a quiet locating spell.
The hair lifts in silver light. Its thread stretches beyond Aleveria, across the living path, then bends sharply toward a distant land veiled in crimson and deep blue.

Liora
That is the Demon Continent. The signature is Caelen’s, unmistakably. He survived the scattering, but he is trapped there.
The spell reveals Caelen standing beneath unfamiliar dark cliffs, alive and separated from them by a sealed gulf in the ward network. His earth-and-water mana remains steady, though faint.

Liora
The route will not carry us there from this gate. We cannot reach him by following the current, and forcing it could scatter us again.
The strand curls back into Klause’s hand, leaving a red-blue afterimage shaped like the Demon Continent. The gate records the destination, preserving a path that is closed but real.

Liora
Now we know where he is. We need another way to cross the living path, and we need to make sure Caelen can endure until we find it.

Caelen’s Hair
“Yeah*I say looking at caelen sadly*”

Klause larent
Yeah.
Klause looks toward the fading image of Caelen Aris, sadness plainly visible as the crimson-blue afterimage trembles above his covenant-marked palm.

Liora
Then we hold on to that certainty. Caelen is alive, and the path has left us a trace.
The sealed gate answers with a soft silver pulse. Its runes preserve the Demon Continent’s mark beside Aleveria’s symbol, recording the destination without opening the passage.

Liora
We will search the city for another crossing, or for records explaining how the living path can be opened safely.
Liora rises and studies the ruined avenue, where root-wrapped bridges disappear beneath the emerald vines. Warm air moves through the ancient stones.

Liora
He is alive. That must be enough for now, until I learn how to reach him.
“Ok, he is safe so lets find out where we are*I say walking towards the gate*now lets figure out how to enter it”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled -1)

Klause larent
He is safe, so let us find out where we are. Now let us figure out how to enter it.
Klause walks toward the crystal gate, his burned palm held near the Aleveria symbol. The runes brighten beneath his approach, recognizing the covenant without resistance.

Liora
The gate is responding to you. Watch the lower carvings. They are showing us what this place was called.
Silver lines unwind across the marble and form a map of the ruined city. Elven letters name it as Veyr-Aleth, an outer sanctuary of Aleveria, abandoned after its living-path routes failed.
Klause places his covenant-marked hand against the gate. The dark crescent flares, and the crystal doors open inward, revealing a descending passage lit by roots of blue-white light.

Liora
We are in Veyr-Aleth, beneath Aleveria’s outer sanctuary. The gate opens for your living covenant, and this passage leads into the city’s route chamber.
Beyond the threshold, three carved arches display Aleveria, the Demon Continent, and a third unmarked destination. The route chamber waits, open and stable, beneath the ruined city.
