The dry passage opens into a round chamber above the stream. A stone dais waits at its center, carved with branching signs and a single empty handprint.
The wounded pack lizard carries the bronze coffer onto the dais. Its fittings flare, and a human crest, nearly erased beneath the metal, cracks down the middle with a sharp ringing sound.

Embria
There is the claim, little flame. Human hands marked this burden as property, but the old road remembers an older law.
The coffer lid rises without a hinge moving. Inside lies no treasure, only a blackened bronze seal and a folded strip of pale material inscribed with branching marks.

Embria
Do not touch it yet. The seal bears House Valemont’s authority, but the road is stripping that authority away. What leaves this chamber will not belong to any human house.
The blackened seal fractures into dull flakes. Beyond the dais, three ancient arches awaken, each opening onto a different darkness, while none bears a crest or chain.

Embria
A road beyond ownership, little flame. The coffer has survived its delivery, and now it offers passage instead of obedience. The choice of where remains yours.

Secure the bronze coffer
“I blink, looking to Embria, then to the Arches. "That's, nice of it, but I don't know where any of them lead."”

Kara
That's nice of it, but I don't know where any of them lead.
Kara blinks, looking first toward Embria’s ember-glow and then across the three awakened arches. Their darkness holds no visible landmark, only the quiet promise of roads beyond the old claim.

Embria
Then you need not choose by guessing, little flame. The road has opened, but it has not demanded an answer.
The wounded pack lizard lowers its head beside the dais. The bronze coffer is still, emptied of command, while the pale strip rests untouched within it and the broken seal lies beneath Kara’s feet.

Embria
Take the arch whose air feels open, not the one that calls most loudly. You have crossed enough roads to know that freedom may begin without a map.
The nearest arch breathes cool air scented with rain and living soil. The wounded pack lizard turns toward it, then waits, leaving the first step to Kara as the chamber’s ancient light settles into peace.
Behind them, the chamber dims around the abandoned claim. Ahead lies a road no house owns, and Kara leaves the old authority where it broke, carrying only what she chose to keep.

The cracked crest fell silent, its claim reduced to bronze dust beneath Kara’s boots.

Braska
No master. No chain. Just the road when you are ready.

Kara
Then I will meet it as myself.
Braska lowered his head, and the rain-scented arch glimmered softly beside them.
Kara stepped away from the broken authority of House Valemont with the unclaimed roads waiting beyond the dark. The coffer had carried her to a choice, not a cage, and for the first time the future belonged wholly to her. Behind her, the ancient arches kept their quiet promise as she walked free.
