Slaan guides Nhal from the Hall, leaving the Elder, Walter, Veyl, and the former attendant behind to maintain the keys’ agreed custody. The workshop’s warmth receives them again.

The silver circle still rests on the workbench, its connected strands dim but intact. Dusty lamplight touches the tools, the stones, and Slaan’s green hair.

There. No crowds, no chalk lines, and no one waiting for you to solve their fear. You may simply be here, if that is what you want.

Slaan

Slaan

I am curious about your independence, but curiosity does not make a claim on you. We can speak, or sit in silence, and neither choice becomes a test.

Slaan settles beside the workbench without touching the circle. The silver strands answer her presence with a faint shimmer, then grow still again.

Companionship should leave room to remain oneself. I want to learn whether I can offer that without reaching for more.

What does being free feel like when nobody needs you to mediate, explain, or protect them? You need not answer quickly, Nhal.

“I explain that I was bound as a keeper, then as apart of the archive and that these are new and exciting experience and if she will continue to share them.”

I was bound as a keeper, and then as part of the archive. These experiences are new to me, and exciting. Will you continue sharing them with me?

Nhal’s explanation settles into the warm workshop, honest and unhurried. The silver circle gives a faint shimmer, as though recognizing a choice freely offered rather than assigned.

Slaan

Slaan

Yes. Gladly. I will share them with you, and I will remember that sharing is not the same as guiding your path.

Slaan’s smile softens. She turns one polished stone across the workbench, leaving it within reach but not placing it in Nhal’s hands.

We can begin with small things: stones, songs, quiet roads, and questions with no required answer. Then we can see what wonder finds us.

Slaan

Slaan

She is asking for companionship, not another keeper. I can honor that.

Beyond the shutters, Phandelver’s evening settles into crickets and distant festival music. Inside, the workshop remains open and peaceful, with room for whatever experience comes next.
