Cornered in the Ravine

Sigrid thunders into the ravine after the fleeing cavalryman, boots punching through crusted snow. Ahead, his horse slips, legs skidding on black ice and churned slush.

Stone walls rise tight on both sides, stripping away every path but forward. The mount heaves once, then drops hard to its knees, breath steaming in ragged blasts.

He has nowhere left to run.

The cavalryman swings down in a panic, boots splashing into blood-frozen snow. His gauntleted hand fumbles for steel, but his eyes keep flicking to Sigrid's greatclub.

Wait, giantess. The kingdom will come for you. Riders, spears, banners, all of it.

Wind knifes through the ravine as the horse tries to scramble up, failing. Behind Sigrid, the camp lies broken, and ahead of her stands the last man from the hunt who still has a voice.

The trapped rider backs into the rock wall, pale with terror, while Sigrid closes the final steps of the chase.

SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled -2)

Cornered in the Ravine

Sigrid catches the cavalryman by the crown of his helm and yanks him off the wall. His shout dies into a choking grunt as her fingers clamp down, steel creaking under her grip.

He jerks both hands up to pry at her wrist, boots scraping uselessly across the ice. The horse whinnies and scrabbles against the blocked ravine, throwing loose snow and blood across the stones.

With one brutal squeeze, she crushes the helm and everything beneath it. The sound is wet, quick, and final.

The man slackens at once, his sword slipping from his hand and vanishing into the churned snow. A dark spray fans across Sigrid's knuckles and the rock behind him.

The horse rears hard at the noise, striking the ravine wall and jolting loose a rain of pebbles. Somewhere back toward the camp, the storm swallows the last echoes of the hunt.

Sigrid holds the ruined body for a heartbeat, then lets it sag against the stone. Fresh blood steams on the cold air, and the blocked path tightens into a silent grave.
