Sigrid crashes through the drifted pines and finds the camp ahead, half-buried in stormlight. Two fresh bloodstains spread across the snow, and loose armor lies scattered like shed scales.
A horse thrashes in the distance, trapped in deep snow and screaming for open ground. The last scout is close, dragged down by panic and the storm.
At the edge of the camp, the surviving scout stumbles from behind a wrecked tent, one hand clutching a bleeding shoulder. He sees Sigrid and freezes.

His horse rears behind him, half-blind with snow, and the scout realizes he cannot outrun her on foot.

He lies still at Sigrid’s feet, blood darkening the snow around him while the horse shrieks and bucks behind the torn tent.
The camp goes horribly quiet except for the storm. Loose armor rattles once, then settles under fresh powder.
The horse wheels away from the corpse, frantic and blind, thrashing toward the trees as if the dead can still be outrun.
Sigrid stands over the fallen scout, her club lowered, with the secret of her presence kept in the blood and snow.

Sigrid bends, hauls the dead scout up by his torn armor, and feeds on him where he fell. The storm keeps watch, while the horse crashes deeper into the trees, too terrified to look back.
