Morning finds the inquiry chamber orderly at last. Oren has tied the validated accounts beneath fresh seals, while Lord Rane remains at the table to contain the surviving danger rather than chase it into rumor.

Lord Caldus Rane
The evidence agrees where it can, and its uncertainties are marked where it cannot. Mara’s former identity will remain sealed. Edrin’s account will travel only through guarded channels.
Mara stands beside the protected records with her travel cloak fastened. Edrin checks the straps on his pack, while Guard Tessa waits near the chamber door with the sealed route papers.

Oren Valecourt
Lord Rane and I will remain in Harrowmere to contain the inquiry and answer Dunmere through the confirmed channel. Guard Tessa will accompany you onward, with protection arranged at each lawful stop.

Mara Venn
Then I will travel as Mara Venn, and no other name. Edrin and Octavius remain beside me, and Tessa knows which details must not be spoken on the road.

Edrin Vale
Aye. We leave with the truth preserved, not polished into certainty. Octavius, your judgment remains welcome, but this time the road will not rest on your shoulders alone.
Lord Rane stays behind with Oren and the sealed inquiry. Mara, Edrin, Guard Tessa, Patter, and Octavius are the party departing under protection, their destination and route awaiting the next decision.

Expose the person searching for Mara
“Lady Mara, Lady Tessa," I nod to the ladies, and then to Edrin, "Sir Edrin, it will be my honour to accompany you further, and while it may take time to overcome my habit of only knowing myself in the wilds of my retreat... I will do my best to admit when I might better serve if I had assistance.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Persuasion, rolled -2)

Octavius
Lady Mara, Lady Tessa. Sir Edrin, it will be my honour to accompany you further. I will do my best to admit when assistance would serve us better.
The admission costs Octavius some of his practiced independence. It also settles the matter plainly: he has committed to the road, and he has placed his need for help where his companions can see it.

Mara Venn
Then I will not mistake your silence for certainty. If you ask for help, or if I see you carrying too much alone, I will say so plainly.

Guard Tessa
And I will expect you to accept a hand before the road makes the choice for you. That is not distrust, Octavius. It is how we keep a party sound.

Edrin Vale
Aye. Come with us as a companion, not as the wall between us and every danger. I will call on your judgment, and you will call on ours when the need is shared.
Patter slips through the open doorway and falls into step beside Octavius. Tessa gathers the route papers, Mara secures her cloak, and Edrin turns toward the waiting road with the party no longer resting on one person alone.

The open doorway admitted the first pale light of morning. Packs were fastened, records secured, and the burden of departure became something carried together.

Mara Venn
No more solitary heroics, Octavius. We leave as a company.

Guard Tessa
And every danger met will be shared.

Edrin Vale
Harrowmere has its guardians. We have one another.

Patter
Patter walks with Octavius.

Octavius
Then I will accept the help, and give it in return.
Behind them, Harrowmere held the inquiry’s remaining danger beneath guarded records and watchful hands, while Mara Venn’s former identity remained safely veiled. Oren Valecourt and Lord Caldus Rane stayed to contain what threatened the city. Octavius stepped through the doorway with Mara, Edrin, Tessa, and Patter beside him, no longer bearing the road alone. The chapter closed on their shared departure, and on a responsibility finally made communal.
