The blast doors shudder as the thermal cutter bites deeper, spraying sparks through the smoke. The red acquisition tag keeps pulsing on the dead terminal, like a beacon. 2-6 stands ready while the Courier yanks at a vent grate, looking for a way out.

The Courier
Found one, maybe. If that shaft links to the service spine, we can move above the breach.
A new voice crackles from the corridor speaker, flat and clinical, right on top of the cutter's howl. The hunters are close enough now that their radio leak fills the room.

Jax
No. They already have his trace. Stay in here and you get boxed. Move now, or get tagged in the open.

2-6
The vent is narrow, but it is an exit.
Smoke thickens around 2-6's boots as the opening yaws loose enough for one person at a time. The Courier braces the grate aside, and the corridor beyond flickers with red emergency light.
The choice is sharp and immediate, squeeze into the vents and run before the corp squad cuts through, or stay and be pinned when the doors fail. The trail is still live, but the hideout has a route out.

“Squeeze into the vent and crawl as fast as possible”
SUCCESS (Superb Agility, rolled +1)

2-6 drops low and commits to the vent, shoulders angling sideways as smoke claws at his back. The grate shivers in the Courier’s grip while the red terminal glow strobes over his hands.
He slides inside fast, boots scraping metal, then pulls his legs through as the room behind him flashes with fresh sparks. The opening swallows him into darkness and duct-dust.

The Courier
Go, go, move. I will hold this side.
Behind him, the Courier jams the vent edge shut as far as it will go, buying seconds with trembling arms. The blast doors keep taking the cutter’s teeth, each hit louder than the last.

Jax
He is in the shaft now. Hunters, check the upper run, not the room.
2-6 crawls hard through the narrow service tube, one hand over the other, the stink of hot dust and old coolant closing around him. Ahead, a bend opens on dim maintenance light and the promise of space beyond the breach.
From behind the metal skin of the hideout, a muffled impact rolls through the duct, then another. The route out is open, but the hunters are not gone.
“Kick open the breach and get into more space”
SUCCESS (Good Strength, rolled +2)

2-6 drives his heel into the duct wall and the breach panel pops inward with a shriek of torn metal. Dust and warm air spill out as the shaft widens into a service junction.
He twists through the break and plants both boots on the lip beyond, leaving the cramped tube behind. The corridor ahead is broader, lit in sickly maintenance white, with the hideout’s red glow pulsing weakly at his back.

The Courier
That is it, move. I am right behind you.
The Courier hauls himself after 2-6, one hand still braced on the damaged grate. Behind them, the cutter’s impacts hammer the far side of the hideout, louder now through the open junction.

Jax
Hunters are coming through the room. Keep left, the upper maintenance run is still clear.
For a beat, the smoking terminal’s red pulse catches on The Stranger’s glowing sensor lenses in the doorway below. The route out is open, but the hunters are entering the hideout.
