Splintered timber groans underfoot as the boarding plank bites the gun deck. Cannon smoke rolls low across the boards, and privateers push through it with blades bare.
Captain Silas comes first, grizzled and hard-eyed, one hand on his rapier. His crew fans out behind him, all of them staring past the mutineers toward the charter.

Captain Silas
Easy now. We are not here to spill blood for sport. Give us the charter, and this deck may yet keep its footing.

The Mutinous First Mate
You track us through a storm, then ask politely? The charter stays with me until I say otherwise.
Merelia holds her ground between the two armed factions as the ship lurches again. Smoke parts just enough to show every steel edge pointed at the same prize.

Merelia
The charter matters to both sides. So does whoever moves first.
“i get my husband to help”
SUCCESS (Great Diplomacy, rolled +1)

Merelia shifts her weight, then turns her attention past the blades and smoke to the one man on deck who can still steady the room. Her call cuts through the chaos, and Tiverus answers from behind the line with immediate interest.

Captain Silas
Tiverus. If your wife asks for your voice, I suggest you use it before this deck becomes a grave.

Tiverus
A grave is what mutiny makes of a ship. Speak plainly, Merelia. What do you need me to say?
The mutinous first mate tightens his grip on the charter, but hesitates at the sound of the pirate king’s name. The privateers hold, watching Merelia for the shape of the bargain.

Tiverus
She is asking for the thread that keeps them from tearing this vessel apart. I can give her that.
Tiverus steps into clearer view, one hand raised for silence. His gaze fixes on the charter, then on the first mate, measuring him like a man he already knows how to beat.

Tiverus
Put the paper down, and I will hear what passage you think you earned. Keep it hidden, and you force me to choose the ship over your pride.
“I ask Tiverus to demand the charter”
SUCCESS (Great Diplomacy, rolled -1)

Merelia lets the silence hang just long enough for Tiverus to feel it, then gives him a small, precise nod toward the charter. He understands at once and turns the weight of his command on the first mate instead of the crew.

Tiverus
You heard her. Put the charter down. Then tell me what passage you bought, and why you thought mutiny would make it cheaper.
The first mate’s grip loosens. He lowers the paper, not all at once, but enough that the threat in his knuckles fades before the storm can catch it.

The Mutinous First Mate
I thought... if I held it, the captain would have to listen. I was wrong.
Tiverus does not pounce on the admission. He steps in, takes the charter cleanly, and folds it once as if it were only another logbook to be secured against the spray.

Tiverus
Good. Then listen back. You speak your terms now, and you speak them to me like a man who wants to stay aboard.

The Mutinous First Mate
Maybe there is still a way to keep his place. Maybe Merelia meant that when she looked to the captain instead of the blade.
The privateers ease, and even Captain Silas lowers his shoulders a fraction. The charter is no longer in the first mate’s hands, and the first mate stares at Tiverus, waiting for permission to begin.
