The scouts shove into the wet passage, flashlights jittering over Bluze’s bulk and the trembling scavenger pinned at the wall. The lead one levels a rusted sidearm, breathing hard. "Hand the boy over. Now."

Bluze
Three flashlights. One gun.
Behind them, the tunnel’s far bend flickers with a colder light, a strip of painted arrows half hidden under grime. The route marker on the wrecked drone matches it. The scouts are blocking the way forward, but they are also standing on it.

The Lead Scout
You move, I fire. We were told the sickness walks with the kid.
The Boy presses close behind Bluze, eyes fixed on the marker, ready to trust him. The scavenger gives a shaky nod toward the dark bend, still trapped in the hold, as if warning that the tunnel branches there.
A voice crackles from somewhere deeper in the pipes, thin and warped by metal. "Leave the child. Take the beast. Final warning." The scouts freeze, uncertain whether the order is meant for them or for someone watching through the walls.

Reach safety underground
“I slowly stalk towards the lead scout, using my colossal size to shield his view of the boy so that if he shoots he has to shoot me”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +0)

Bluze advances in a slow, heavy line, and the lead scout loses sight of the boy behind that moving wall of flesh. The gun stays up, but the muzzle wavers as Bluze takes the center of the passage.

The Lead Scout
Stop there. Don’t make me guess who I hit.
Scout Two shifts half a step aside, trying to find an angle past Bluze’s shoulder, but the tunnel is too narrow. The dark bend and its painted arrows stay blocked by Bluze’s bulk, hidden from their line of fire.

Scout Three
He’s covering something. I can’t see the kid.

Jory
He’s in front now. I’m not exposed.
The voice in the pipes crackles again, thin and metallic, feeding the scouts’ doubt from somewhere deeper in the walls. The lead scout tightens his grip, but he does not fire.

The Lead Scout
Back up, all of you. Keep him in sight.
For a beat, the passage holds on that standoff, Bluze square in the gap and the scouts pinned behind their own hesitation, while the hidden branch beyond him waits for a decision.
“I take the gun from his hand and eat it as an intimidation attempt”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)

Bluze surges forward and clamps one massive hand over the lead scout’s weapon wrist. Metal jerks, the shot never comes, and the sidearm is torn free in a single wrench of force.
Before the scout can recover, Bluze bites down on the gun. The battered weapon crunches and folds between those jaws, loud enough to make all three scouts flinch.

The Lead Scout
No. Back away from him!
The lead scout stumbles back empty-handed, staring at the broken remnant in Bluze’s mouth. Scout Two lifts his hands instead of his gun, and Scout Three’s flashlight dips hard toward the floor.

Scout Three
That is not normal.
The pipe voice crackles through the metal again, thin and cold, pressing the moment wider. The boy stays hidden behind Bluze’s bulk, but the scouts are no longer reaching for him, only for distance.

The Lead Scout
We are pulling back. Move, now!
“I grab the leader by his neck, claws digging into his throat, and tell him im eating him next”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +2)

Bluze’s claws close around the lead scout’s throat, hauling him close enough that the man’s boots scrape at the scrap-strewn floor. The other two freeze, their retreat turning into a hard, nervous line.

The Lead Scout
He is going to kill me.

Bluze
I eat you next.

Jory
Bluze is in front of me. I can breathe again.
The lead scout swallows against Bluze’s grip, one hand lifted uselessly at his own neck. Scout Two keeps backing away, eyes wide, while Scout Three’s flashlight wobbles in a pale shake across the walls.

The Lead Scout
Get clear. Do not come back here.
The pipe voice hisses through the metal overhead, cold and distant, and the scouts hesitate just long enough to hear it. The boy stays tucked behind Bluze’s bulk, watching the armed men lose the courage to advance.

Jory
You heard it too, right? That voice... it knows this place.
“I rip the scout leader's guys out and eat them”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +1)

Bluze jerks the scout in close, and the man’s struggle goes slack in one brutal motion. The arena noise seems to fall away as Bluze tears free what he came for and lowers his jaws over the ragged prize.
Scout Two stumbles into a pile of sheet metal, staring wide-eyed. Scout Three backs into the dark with her flashlight dipping hard, the beam skipping over Bluze’s hulking outline.

The Lead Scout
No, no...
Bluze eats fast, the answer to the threat disappearing down his throat before the other scouts can find their nerve. Blood and torn fabric drop onto the scrap floor.

Jory
Bluze...

Jory
He really stopped them.
The lead scout’s body goes limp in Bluze’s grasp, no longer fighting. Above them, the pipe voice hisses again, quiet but certain, as if it has been waiting for this exact moment.

Jory
That voice is still there. What now?
“I stand and roar at the two remaining scouts to scare them off”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +0)
Bluze rises from the bloodied scrap, then throws back his head and bellows into the tunnel. The sound slams off the pipes and broken metal, huge enough to fill every exit.
Scout Two freezes in place, then jerks away from the sound, weapon lowered and shoulders hunched. Scout Three flinches hard, nearly dropping her flashlight as the beam skates wild across the floor.

Scout Two
No, no, not that close...
The boy stays tucked behind the scrap, watching the scouts break. Above, the voice in the pipes hums once, low and satisfied, as if it has marked the moment.
Both scouts back toward the dark together now, retreat turning into a full withdrawal. Their path opens away from Bluze, and neither of them dares step around his bulk.

Jory
They are going. Bluze, they are actually going.
The tunnel falls into a tense hush, but the opening behind the scouts stays unguarded, waiting. The voice does not leave, and it does not sound finished.

“I get the boy out of hiding and ask him where to go next”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled -1)

Bluze reaches back and lifts the boy clear of the scrap, setting him on unsteady feet beside his leg. The boy staggers once, then catches himself, eyes flicking from Bluze to the open route behind the scouts.

Bluze
Bluze gestures toward the dark opening, asking where to go next.

Jory
Down. There is a maintenance run under the floor, if we can reach it.
A wet drip lands from the overhead pipe onto Bluze's shoulder, and the boy flinches at the sound. The scouts keep withdrawing, but the opening behind them is still there, bare and tempting.

Scout Two
Keep moving, don't look back!
Bluze's sudden movement cracks a loose shard underfoot, a sharp snap that carries through the arena. The boy jerks at the noise, then leans in close to Bluze's side, waiting for the next move.
Above them, the voice in the pipes gives a low, thin pulse, like it is listening for their answer.
“I nod and apologize to the boy for making him watch such a bloody scene”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +4)

Bluze lowers his head in a small, careful nod. The boy’s face tightens at the memory, but he stays close, watching Bluze instead of the blood.

Bluze
I’m sorry.

Jory
You did what you had to. I know that.
The boy wipes his mouth with the back of his hand, then glances toward the dark maintenance run. The shards on the floor stop glittering for a second as the overhead pulse fades.

Jory
There’s a side ladder under the grate. If we get there, we drop out of sight.
From the pipes, the hidden voice gives no command this time, only a thin murmur that seems to follow them as the scouts disappear into the distance.

Jory
If you want, I’ll go first. I can fit where you can’t.
“I ask the boy to guide me underground”
SUCCESS (Great Negotiation, rolled +0)

Bluze
Show me the way underground.

Jory
Yeah. Stay close to my shoulder, and step where I step.
He slides to the grate and hooks it aside, exposing the ladder drop beneath. Dust sifts from the opening, and the faint murmur in the pipes rides the dark below.

Jory
I’ve used these maintenance runs before. They twist under half the arena. Safer than the open floor, if nothing wakes up down there.

Bluze
The ladder is narrow, but the opening is clear.

Jory
I can go first. Keep your hand on the rung behind me if you need to.
He lowers one foot onto the ladder and looks back once, not afraid now, just waiting for Bluze to commit to the descent.
“I follow the boy down the ladder”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +3)

Bluze commits to the descent, easing one heavy forearm around the ladder rail and dropping in behind the boy. The metal groans, but holds.
Boots and claws move rung by rung into the dark, fast and silent. Above, the arena light thins to a bright slice around the opening.

Jory
Good. Stay with me.
The boy slips lower, then pauses on a landing and reaches back to catch Bluze by the wrist, guiding him to a side hatch that was hidden in the wall.
The hatch hangs open on bent hinges, and stale air pushes out from beyond it, carrying the damp rattle of deeper pipes.

Jory
That route is clear. We can lose them down here.
Bluze steps through first, and the ladder mouth above becomes a narrowing square of light while the arena noise fades behind him.
