The lower entrance unlocks before Jostan touches it. Beyond, obsolete climate hardware crowds a dim service chamber, its dead fans ticking beneath a film of condensation.

Sela Marr steps from behind a coolant manifold, a lean adult woman in a weather-stained gray utility coat. A scar cuts through one eyebrow; she carries a damaged Europa field tag and a portable signal jammer.

Rodney shifts beside the entrance, one hand hovering near the Angel. The jammer emits a thin pulse, and the chamber lights answer with a brief, unnatural flicker.

A buried relay wakes beneath the floor. Faint targeting brackets crawl across the coolant pipes, then settle on the doorway, while the jammer struggles against a signal it cannot locate.

Jostan reaches through Ki-Nen toward Sela’s portable signal jammer, but the device is not his to handle. His interference catches only its outer handshake, bending the pulse into a shrill feedback loop.

The jammer does not become useless. Instead, its safeguards harden and begin rejecting every external command for roughly two minutes, while the buried relay’s targeting brackets sharpen across the doorway.

Jostan deploys the Jimmy and throws it across the chamber. Sela catches the revolver against her coat, startled but steady, keeping the muzzle pointed toward the floor.

Jostan brings the Eye of Anylasis online and scans the field tag, the jammer’s signal residue, and the archive lead threaded beneath the chamber floor.

The scan cannot authenticate the complete creation file through the interference, but it finds a genuine Helix-era origin signature. The lead is real, and its active path terminates below the relay.

Sela studies Jostan through the jammer’s feedback, then lowers her chin. The bargain lands, but her expression makes clear that acceptance will be recorded as a debt.

Sela clips the damaged Europa field tag to the jammer and exposes a narrow encrypted channel. A sealed logistics node opens in Jostan’s buffer, complete with route keys and ownership markers.

Jostan follows Sela down the termination shaft as climate conduits give way to older archive housing. He turns, gives Rodney a small shrug, and signals her to relax and stay close.

At the shaft’s bottom, a sealed archive interface recognizes the newly acquired logistics node and unlocks its private termination map. Beneath it, the creation record begins indexing under Jostan’s identity.

Jostan isolates the archive’s write channels, mapping authentication checks, rollback traps, and the creation record’s defensive partitions before allowing any data to pass.

He builds a sealed buffer partition between the archive and his active systems, forcing every fragment through a read-only checksum lattice. The record copies intact, including its origin signatures and access history.

The defenses reveal a creation file keyed to biological continuity, cybernetic persistence, and autonomous inheritance. It identifies Jostan as a compatible successor, not corporate property.

A trace attempt catches the copy’s edge and spends the partition’s disposable checksum reserve. One active diagnostic cache shuts down until rebuilt, but the archive never writes into Jostan’s operating systems.

The sealed copy settles in Jostan’s cybernetic buffer, separately attributable and readable. Behind it, the archive interface returns to standby, while one of his diagnostic caches remains dark.
