Behemoth and the Fixer push out of the maintenance lift bay into a service catwalk high under the rooftop skin. Wet metal rattles underfoot, and blue sparks spit from the torn uplink behind them.

Ahead, the catwalk opens onto a cramped relay terrace full of antenna ribs, dripping conduit, and a half-lit access kiosk. Ash drifts through the air like dirty snow.

The Fixer

The Fixer

This is a bad place to linger. That drone trail will circle back.

Behemoth

Behemoth

Move.

Behemoth shoulders past a hanging cable rack, forcing the route open. The metal frame shudders, and the loose cable slaps the wet tiles beside him.

The Signal Tech

The Signal Tech

Wait, hold up. I can clean the ledger, no calls, no tags. Just let me off this roof.

A narrow service door bangs open at the terrace edge. A hooded courier slips through first, then freezes at the sight of Behemoth and the others, one hand still on the door brace.

For a beat, everyone measures exits. The city hums below, and the courier’s scanner light winks red across the wet floor.

Behemoth plants his feet and lets the silence stretch just long enough to make it hurt. The terrace seems to listen.

Behemoth

Behemoth

You, fixer, and your friend, go. I am going to make sure this corp is nothing but a ghost story.

The Fixer

The Fixer

...That is either the best threat I have ever heard, or the worst plan.

The Signal Tech

The Signal Tech

You are serious. Fine. I am done here.

The Signal Tech backs away from the kiosk, ledger pad tucked tight to their chest. The Courier lowers the scanner a fraction, still frozen in the doorway.

The Fixer

The Fixer

If you come back from this, I want the story before the drinks go flat.

Behemoth turns once, and the motion pulls a loose brace of his armor against the torn boot seal. A cold drip finds the gap, and the wet metal bites through.

Behemoth drives the minigun up and opens fire down the terrace line. Muzzle flash stutters gold across wet steel, and the corporate position folds under the barrage.

A smart scope on one of the enforcers jerks off target, its painted aim thrown wide by the impact. The round he sends clips a rail instead of Behemoth.

The corporate return fire dies fast. One body goes down behind the access frame, then another vanishes from view as sparks and smoke swallow the corner.

The Fixer

The Fixer

That is one hell of a goodbye.

The rooftop alarm somewhere below keeps screaming red through the rain, but the rooftop team is finished. Behemoth's burst leaves the barrel hot and the terrace shuddering under the recoil.

A sharp crack tears through the torn boot seal, and cold water bites higher into his armor as the minigun settles heavy in his hands. The only movement left is smoke, rain, and the drone still hovering over the cordon far away.

i aim for the drone the corp building power lines and anything they need to function making sure that all is left is ash and an example of why you don't poke behemoth

Behemoth swings the minigun off the terrace line and hammers upward, stitching the hovering drone with heavy fire. Its casing erupts in sparks, then drops smoking into the rain below.

The burst keeps rolling into the rooftop power spine. Conduit panels burst open, cable bundles flash white, and the relay feed at the terrace edge goes dark in a shower of ash.

The corporation’s rooftop support dies with it. The smart-scope glare vanishes, and the red alarm below suddenly feels farther away than the smoke in front of Behemoth’s face.

The Fixer

The Fixer

Yeah. That is an example.

Heat rolls off the minigun barrels. Behemoth’s damaged boot seal spits colder rainwater into his armor as the weapon settles lower in his grip.

The Signal Tech

The Signal Tech

I am leaving. Right now.

The courier backs toward the service door with the ledger clutched tight, eyes on the dead drone and the blackened power run. The terrace is still Behemoth’s, but the way forward is suddenly very visible.

Behemoth hooks an arm around the Fixer and kicks hard for the terrace edge, but the old jet boots cough a weak flare instead of a lift. The boost shudders, wrong and half-dead.

He clears the ledge by inches, then drops into the service scaffold below instead of the open fall. Metal shrieks under his weight, and the Fixer slams against his side.

A door below them flashes sealed red. The landing rung tears loose, and the pair skid to a stop on a narrow maintenance lip, still on the rooftop level.

Behind them, smoke boils through the access side. Ahead, a grated hatch trembles under fresh lock pulses from somewhere deeper in the structure.

Behemoth

Behemoth

The boot seal is flooding again.

The Fixer

The Fixer

Bad angle. You okay to try that again?

The Signal Tech

The Signal Tech

That hatch is corporate. If it seals, we are trapped up here.

Behemoth hauls the Fixer in close and fires the old jet boots again. They cough, spit blue heat, and kick both of them sideways instead of up.

The pair slam into the scaffold frame, shoulder first. The Fixer yelps, the minigun twists loose from Behemoth's grip, and the damaged boot seal hisses rainwater into his armor.

Behemoth

Behemoth

Wrong angle. The thrusters are lagging.

Below, the red-sealed door stays shut. Above, the grated hatch keeps trembling under lock pulses, and one panel in its frame flickers open for a blink.

The Fixer

The Fixer

I saw it, a service latch. Left side. You can reach it if you get us there.

The Signal Tech

The Signal Tech

That pulse is coming from inside the hatch stack, not the door. Something up here is still live.

The Fixer clings to Behemoth's shoulder, staring at the blinking seam while smoke rolls thicker along the lip.

FAILURE (Mediocre Agility, rolled +1)

Behemoth commits to the old jump, hauling the Fixer with him as the battered boots spit a thin blue flare. The lift is weak and crooked, carrying them up only a little before the scaffold buckles the line of travel.

They do not reach the latch. Instead, they slam shoulder first into the hatch frame, hard enough to rattle the tremor in the grate and send rain hissing off Behemoth's damaged seal.

Behemoth

Behemoth

The thrusters are burning uneven, and the side latch is still there.

The Fixer is jarred loose from Behemoth's side, one hand catching his armor while their other arm flings toward the blinking seam. Smoke rolls between them and the hatch stack, thin enough to show a narrow service recess in the frame.

The Fixer

The Fixer

Left side. That recess is open for a blink, if you can time it.

The Signal Tech

The Signal Tech

Not the door, the stack. Something inside that hatch housing is still live.

The minigun hangs low against Behemoth's hip, the old boots coughing out one tired burst as the red-sealed door stays shut below. The opening is small, but it is there, and it is coming from the frame, not the lock.

i leave by grabbing fixer and using a old merc build jump trick trust my armors old jet boots and back thrusters to work and make the landing softer and my strength and body to cushion use

SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +4)

Behemoth drives off the scaffold with the Fixer still in his grip, boots flaring hard this time. His body turns the impact into a shove, and the pair skim through the open recess instead of splintering against it.

They hit inside the hatch housing in a low crouch, metal ringing under Behemoth's weight. The Fixer lands on one knee, and the flickering seam snaps wider behind them.

Behemoth

Behemoth

The recess leads into the stack.

The Signal Tech

The Signal Tech

That was not supposed to open from the outside.

The inside of the housing is not empty. A service spine glows dead red, and a corporate maintenance plate hangs half torn loose, exposing bundled wires and a thin access crawl.

The Fixer

The Fixer

Nice. We have a way in, or out, depending how ugly this gets.

Behemoth's damaged boot seal hisses in the new draft, but his landing holds. Below them, the sealed door stays shut while the terrace tremors from the hidden machine still alive inside the stack.

"we made the corp a ghost story lets leave i get paid and we watch the news talk about why this corp was dull of saints" i say heading out

SUCCESS (Legendary Persuasion, rolled +1)

Behemoth lowers the minigun and turns from the glowing crawl. The Fixer gets upright, rainwater shaking off their sleeves, and the Signal Tech stays at the hatch edge, watching them like they might still change their minds.

Behemoth

Behemoth

We made the corp a ghost story. Let us leave, I get paid, and we watch the news talk about why this corp was full of saints.

The Fixer

The Fixer

You say it like that does not sound expensive. But, yeah. I want that drink and that headline.

The Signal Tech

The Signal Tech

For the record, this stack was already rotten. You just made the rot visible.

The Fixer huffs a laugh, then reaches into a pocket and drops a payment chip into Behemoth’s hand. The Signal Tech glances once at the torn plate, then at Behemoth, measuring the distance between fear and respect.

The Fixer

The Fixer

He is not subtle, but he is right. You tore their reach apart up here.

The Signal Tech

The Signal Tech

And you left the terrace standing. That counts for something in my ledger.

Below them, the sealed door stays shut and the dead service spine keeps its red glow. Behemoth’s damaged boot seal hisses in the draft as the trio starts backing toward the exit, the rooftop suddenly feeling a little less like a trap and a little more like a story they survived.
