The elven warden breaks the silver seal and leads Coco down into the ancient record hall. Green light spills from root-bound tablets, illuminating shelves grown directly from Yggara’s living wood.

The tablets awaken as Coco passes. Their runes show a younger Coco beside the Ashen Knight, following the same root-lit path beneath Yggara while fragments of erased conversation flicker between them.

Ashfall tears through the warded threshold. The severed chain lashes outward, cutting the hall off from Seris and Vael, while the warden’s first defense fails beneath the Knight’s strike. He falls motionless beside the sealed tablet.

Shelves collapse as the Ashen Knight advances. Root-bound tablets shatter, releasing stolen images of Coco’s forgotten visit, while living roots writhe across the floor and narrow every passage.

Coco scans the collapsing hall, tracking the roots beneath the falling shelves. A narrow passage opens along the eastern wall, where green light pulses behind a curtain of broken tablets.

The Ashen Knight charges through the debris, one gauntlet reaching for Coco. Coco cuts toward the eastern passage as a shelf crashes behind him.

His cloak catches on a splintered root. The Knight’s fingers close around the fabric instead of Coco, wrenching him backward and tearing the garment from his shoulders.

Coco stumbles clear, but the passage he sought seals beneath falling tablets. The torn cloak remains trapped in the Knight’s grasp, buying only a heartbeat.

Behind the sealed route, the pulsing light reveals a root-formed doorway marked with the same symbol as Coco’s journal. It is narrow, but still open, offering a different escape.

Coco pulls the journal free and presses its marked cover against the root-formed doorway. The symbol answers with a pulse of green light.

Ink lifts from the pages in thin luminous threads, winding through the doorway’s grooves. The roots recognize the journal and uncurl, revealing a passage beyond.

The doorway opens fully, its threshold forming a stable arch of living wood. Beyond waits a hidden chamber filled with suspended memories and quiet amber light.

The journal’s pages turn without wind, stopping at a blank spread. A fresh root-mark appears there, matching the open passage and recording Coco’s entry.

Behind him, shelves continue collapsing, but the revealed doorway stands clear. The journal remains in Coco’s hand as the passage admits him into the hidden chamber.

The wish leaves Coco as a quiet green pulse. The hidden chamber bends around it, and every suspended memory flares like a star caught in wind.

Ash-dark armor tears into drifting ash. The Knight vanishes from the chamber, carried beyond mountains and cloud to the distant Dragon Valley. His torn grip releases Coco’s cloak.

The doorway seals behind the departure with a soft root-deep sigh. The collapsing record hall falls silent, leaving only amber light and suspended memories.

On the journal’s blank page, fresh ink writes one sentence in Coco’s hand: The Wish carried him to Dragon Valley. Beneath it, a line remains empty where a memory was.

Coco places the journal beneath the chamber’s amber light. Its pages spread across the root-grown floor, and green ink flows from every margin into the trembling walls.

The suspended memories settle into orderly rings. Broken tablets stop falling, roots withdraw from the passages, and the hidden chamber becomes quiet enough for each fragment to remain distinct.

Coco follows the journal’s fresh ink toward the innermost ring. Amber memories gather there, each enclosed in a small sphere of light and marked with a date, place, or name.

One sphere opens at his approach. A warm household room appears, followed by the sound of a woman speaking, clear enough to identify as his mother’s voice before the image fades.

Another memory reveals Coco beneath Yggara with the Ashen Knight, placing a hand against the living root. The journal records the scene as recovered, while several deeper spheres brighten in answer.
