Thava attempts to take medicine from Brynne but his trembling, scaled hands cause him to drop the cup, spilling the rare liquid. Brynne expresses frustration at the waste but prepares another vial for him. Thava remains physically incapacitated and unable to hold his own drink. While Brynne prepares more medicine, Thava discovers a glowing resistance sigil hidden beneath the floorboards where the previous dose was spilled. Thava realizes the sanctuary was built as a fortress for those being hunted. Brynne urges him to focus on his recovery rather than the floor. Brynne administers medicine to Thava, helping him manage his pain while he remains incapacitated. Thava discovers a glowing resistance sigil on the floorboards, which pulses in rhythm with his heartbeat. As Oswald's men approach the sanctuary, Thava realizes he must find a way to escape despite his inability to move. Thava Tymont escapes the collapsing sanctuary through a blue arcane portal, landing in a vast, subterranean archive. He finds himself surrounded by decaying shelves and ledgers, while the sounds of something heavy searching the ruins above echo through the ceiling. Thava must now navigate this mysterious new environment while recovering from his injuries.

Thava collapses to the floor, losing consciousness as the blue vortex above pulses. Kaelen stands over the defeated Thava, maintaining control of the archive.

As Harl moves to investigate the noise, Thava seizes the opportunity to sprint toward the shadows of the loading docks. The stranger remains frozen in place as the rain intensifies. Thava Tymont successfully slips into a narrow gap between warehouses to evade Harl. Harl kicks over crates in frustration while searching the loading dock area. Thava remains hidden, listening to Harl's footsteps as the mercenary circles toward the exit. Thava Tymont is caught by Harl while attempting to escape through the warehouse district. Harl slams Thava against a wall and disarms him, effectively ending his attempt to flee. The mercenary now stands over the injured dragonborn, ready to finish their confrontation. Thava Tymont unleashes a gout of draconic fire, incapacitating Harl and ending the mercenary's pursuit. As Harl collapses, Thava is left alone in the rain, though he hears a mysterious metallic clanking approaching from the darkness.

The Stranger continues to watch him from the shadows of the steam-filled alley. The Stranger dismisses Thava's questions about Oswald, claiming the name represents the city's pulse. The Stranger then triggers a steam pipe to erupt, blinding Thava and causing him to drop the stolen ledger into the grate below. Thava Tymont lunges through a cloud of scalding steam to recover the stolen ledger before it falls into a drain. He successfully retrieves the book, though the Stranger continues to taunt him about the city's corrupting influence. Thava remains on guard as the Stranger watches from the shadows. Thava attempts to rush past the Stranger but slips on oily condensation, falling hard against a manifold. In the process, he loses his grip on the stolen ledger, which slides into a dark crevice in the wall. The Stranger looms over the prone Thava, mocking his failure and physical weakness. Thava Tymont ignores his shoulder injury to maneuver past the Stranger. He successfully reaches a service vent and escapes into the dark passage, leaving the Stranger behind in the steam-filled alley. Thava Tymont escapes the Stranger through a crawlspace, only to fall through a floor into a vertical chute. He lands in a cold, metallic chamber filled with discarded clockwork gears. He realizes he has reached the heart of the district, but the entrance to the sleeping veins remains elusive as something massive moves beneath him. Thava Tymont hides in a metallic disposal chamber after falling through a chute. He realizes he is being tracked as mechanical sensors and armored boots approach from above. A red laser grid activates at the top of the chute, signaling the arrival of his pursuers. Thava Tymont hides behind a pile of discarded gears in the metallic chamber to mask his heat signature from sensors. A tactical operative in matte-black gear drops into the room, scanning the area with a pulse-rifle and a mechanical visor. The intruder begins to close in on Thava's hiding spot. Thava Tymont reveals his teal-scaled form and launches a surprise attack on the tactical operative. He successfully strikes the Intruder's throat coupling, causing the machine to collapse and lose integrity. Thava identifies the location of the sleeping veins behind the nearby plating. Thava Tymont tears through the wall plating to enter the bioluminescent tunnel known as the sleeping veins. Upon entering, the passage seals behind him, trapping him inside. He is immediately confronted by a mysterious figure who has been waiting for his arrival. He is confronted by the Stranger, who reveals himself to be Vane, a former scout from Thava's old unit thought to have died in the ambush. Vane threatens Thava with a humming shock-blade, mocking his survival. Thava Tymont attacks the entity known as Vane, discovering that it is a synthetic construct rather than his former comrade. The combat is intense, with Thava's blade deflecting off the machine's armored plating as the tunnel environment begins to constrict around them.

Thava now faces a widening gap of static between his position and the exit portal.

Thava Tymont watches as the High Inquisitor dies while they both fall through the void. Vane appears as a spectral manifestation, mocks Thava's quest for vengeance, and shoves him into a different current of the abyss before vanishing. Thava Tymont attempts to weave mana to escape the collapsing void, but the shredded ley lines cause a violent energy backfire. He is sent spinning helplessly through a vortex of debris, struggling to find a handhold before a massive bulkhead slab crushes him. Thava Tymont narrowly avoids being crushed by a shifting bulkhead in the Abyss by locking his talons onto a metal protrusion. He remains suspended over a dangerous centrifuge of machinery, forced to plan his next leap to an upper support strut as the environment continues to collapse around him. Thava Tymont attempts to leap to a support strut but miscalculates the gravity, losing his grip and tumbling into the center of the debris field. He is now adrift and falling toward a massive, rotating violet fan as the bulkhead he was using jams and showers the area with sparks. Thava is left without leverage or purchase in the collapsing void. Thava Tymont successfully channels the chaotic mana of the void to teleport himself away from the lethal rotating fan. He materializes on an upper support strut, anchoring himself to the metal structure as the rift dissipates. He remains suspended in the collapsing abyss, watching the fan continue its rotation below.
