The Soldier
Captain, look at the rise of the beast's chest. We have only seconds before the rhythm shifts. Should I strike now?

Harold Blackhoof
The Soldier is trembling, but he is right. The T Rex breathes like a furnace, and the fog is thickening around those eggs.

Harold Blackhoof
Hold your position. Wait for the heavy exhale. If we move while it inhales, the vibration will wake the monster.

The Soldier
I am ready, sir. My spear is steady. Just say the word and I will secure the largest clutch.
The massive predator shifts, a low growl escaping its throat that shakes the damp soil beneath Harold Blackhoof's boots.

Harold Blackhoof
Now, Soldier. Move silently, keep your eyes on the fog, and do not look back until you reach the tree line.
“I tell them she is a young mother and doesnt have the insticts of a fully grown t-rex, we can defeat her”
SUCCESS (Great Willpower, rolled +1)

Harold Blackhoof
The Soldier is terrified, and rightfully so. But she is young, hardly more than an adolescent by the scars on her snout. If we coordinate, we can handle her.

Harold Blackhoof
Wait. Look at her movements. She is young, Soldier. Her instincts are not as sharp as an elder, and she is sluggish in this humidity. We can take her if she wakes.

The Soldier
The Captain is fearless, or perhaps he is just as insane as the scouts say. I hope he is right about her youth.

The Soldier
Understood, Captain. I will draw my blade if she stirs. I trust your read on this beast.
The massive T Rex lets out a whistling breath, and one of its oversized eyelids flickers open, fixing a reptilian gaze directly upon their hiding spot behind a rotting log.

Harold Blackhoof
She sees us. The eggs are within reach, but the trap is set. Do we scramble for the clutch and run, or stand our ground and finish this before she bellows for a mate?

Defeat the mother T-Rex
“I lead the charge before she can stand spear far forward and low like a lance”
SUCCESS (Great Melee Combat, rolled +1)

Harold Blackhoof
She has not fully risen yet. Her muscles are coiled but slow. Now is the only chance to strike.

Harold Blackhoof
Move, Soldier! Target the soft joint behind the knee, I take the throat!

The Soldier
For the Brass Shield!
Harold Blackhoof lunges from the cover of the rotting log, his spear leveled like a lethal lance. The momentum of the minotaur carries him forward, his heavy hooves tearing up the mud.

The Soldier
He is an absolute whirlwind of fur and steel. I have never seen a Reeve move with such raw, controlled power.
The T Rex lets out a startled, guttural hiss as Harold closes the distance, the tip of the spear finding purchase exactly where the beast's neck meets the chest.
“I continue attacking with my spear, stabbing vital spots all over”
SUCCESS (Great Melee Combat, rolled +1)

Harold Blackhoof
The beast is panicked, her hide tough but not impenetrable. Keep the pressure up. Do not let her find her footing.

Harold Blackhoof
Keep her pinned! She is blind on the left flank.

The Soldier
Cutting the tendons now, sir!
Harold Blackhoof drives his spear deep, his massive arm muscles bunching as he twists the blade. Each strike finds a gap in the scaly armor, drawing dark, steaming blood.
The young predator stumbles, a desperate, high pitched screech echoing through the clearing as she struggles to keep her balance against the minotaur's relentless barrage.

Harold Blackhoof
She is tiring, but one well placed tail swipe could end us both. Do I risk a final, killing strike, or pull back to safety with the eggs?
“I loudly tell my force with me "this beast will eat your childen right where they play back home, we finish her" and deliver killing blows”
SUCCESS (Great Melee Combat, rolled -1)

Harold Blackhoof
This beast will eat your children right where they play back home. We finish her!

Harold Blackhoof
Her eyes are wide, glassy with terror. Now is the moment to end this before she finds her strength.

The Soldier
Understood, Captain. For the shield!
Harold Blackhoof roars, a primal sound that rattles the very trees. He ignores the crushing weight of the T-Rex's tail as he drives his blade home.
With a final, desperate heave, Harold Blackhoof pierces the beast's jugular. The T-Rex collapses, the ground trembling as her massive bulk hits the mud.

Harold Blackhoof
Quiet now. The nest is silent, but the scent of blood will draw every scavenger in the forest. We must move fast.
