The cache... it lies beneath the shifting silt in the western tunnels, buried under the marked slab. Just save yourself, Minotaur. The sea is hungry today.

Harold Blackhoof

Harold Blackhoof

The water is cold and rising too fast. If I drag this wretch out, the current will likely pull us both under.

The Battered Pirate

The Battered Pirate

You look like a man who follows his own code. My life is forfeit to the queen anyway. Leave me to the tide and take your prize.

With a final, desperate look at the exit, the pirate shoves himself away from Harold, wading toward a dark, submerged crevice as he chooses to vanish into the deep rather than face justice at the Brass Shield.

Harold Blackhoof

Harold Blackhoof

He is gone. It is just me and the crushing weight of this ocean now.

The stone ceiling groans, a hairline fracture spiderwebbing across the block above Harold as the cold brine surges to his chest.

I am not letting you slip away that easily. You hold the key to the cache, and the cache is the only thing keeping my soldiers fed.

Harold Blackhoof

Harold Blackhoof

Not today, scavenger.

Harold draws his sling in one fluid motion, the damp air whistling as he whips the leather pouch. A hardened clay pellet streaks through the dim, salt-laden gloom.

The projectile strikes the pirate squarely in the temple with a sickening thud, causing the man to collapse into the knee-deep foam like a marionette with severed strings.

Harold Blackhoof

Harold Blackhoof

He is out cold. Now, to drag this dead weight before the ceiling gives way and buries us both under this mountain.

Ollisir the Silent

Ollisir the Silent

Harold, the supports are failing. The tunnel is coming down whether he wakes up or not. We have to move now!

I say he will come with us to the pirate cove, and flee with ollisir as i cary the pirate

Ollisir is right. The groan of bending stone above us is a death knell. I have to carry this pirate out before the ocean turns this cell into our tomb.

Harold Blackhoof

Harold Blackhoof

Grab his pack, Ollisir. I have the weight.

Harold heaves the unconscious pirate over his broad shoulders, the minotaur's muscles bunching under the strain of the wet, heavy clothing. The cell floor tilts sharply as a secondary tremor ripples through the hold.

Ollisir the Silent

Ollisir the Silent

The exit is already shrinking! If that bulkhead drops, we are sealed in here for good.

Harold Blackhoof

Harold Blackhoof

The water is already at my waist. If the bulkhead pins us, I will have to smash through the stone with my own horns.

Harold lunges forward into the churning surf, his heavy hooves finding purchase on the slick floor. The jagged steel bulkhead begins to slide downward, screeching against the rotted stone frame as the ceiling overhead sheds a rain of debris.

I ask ollisir to cast haste on us

Water slams around Harold Blackhoof’s knees as the bulkhead grinds lower. Ollisir steadies himself against the wall, eyes sharp despite the panic in the room.

Harold Blackhoof

Ollisir, cast haste on us. Now.

Ollisir the Silent

Ollisir the Silent

He answers with a quick, grim nod, already gathering the spell.

His hands blur in a tight arc of dark light, and the air snaps taut around Harold Blackhoof like a drawn cord.

The flood seems to hesitate, then everything lurches into speed. Dripping stone streaks past, and the pirate’s weight suddenly feels lighter on Harold Blackhoof’s back.

Ollisir the Silent

Ollisir the Silent

Move. I have it on you.

Harold Blackhoof surges ahead, splashing through the rising water as the narrowing gap under the bulkhead shivers with the next impact from above.
