Yellow presses the syringe steady, and the amber medicine slips into the child’s arm. Her breathing loosens from a rasp to a shallow, even pull.

Outside, boots hammer closer on loose metal. Red plants herself at the barricade, shoulders hunched, grin sharp as broken glass.

The lock on the outpost door is already half-failed.

Keep her covered. I can’t spare another dose if this turns ugly.

Red the Colossus

Then don’t let it turn ugly. I’ll make them regret knocking.

Blue shifts the child higher in his arms, feeling the strain in his own frame, the old damage of the road tugging through every movement. Yellow checks the ampoules with shaking care.

A scrap-metal crash rings from the entrance. The barricade holds, for now, but the raiders are at the door, and the child finally begins to rest.

Blue eases the child into Yellow’s waiting arms. The fevered weight leaves his chest, and Yellow tightens his hold without looking away from the door.

I’ve got her. Move.

Blue’s hand drops, then lifts again as a hard blue glimmer gathers above his palm. The air shivers, drawn tight around Force Stone.

A force-sheathed warhammer snaps into being with a crack of light, its head heavy in Blue’s grip. Dust jumps from the floor under the sudden weight of it.

Red the Colossus

Red the Colossus

Finally. About time you brought the wall down with them.

The barricade jolts again. Metal shrieks inward, and one crate skids half a handspan across the floor.

Take the front. I keep her clear.

Blue steps through the torn doorway, and the room seems to shrink around him. His blue shadow spills across the broken crates and the clogged entrance.

That’s enough to make them hesitate.

Outside, the raiders bunch in the dim light, their rush stalling at the sight of him. One lifts a weapon, but nobody commits.

Good. Keep their eyes on Blue.

Blue’s Force Stone hammer flares brighter in his grip, the glow cutting hard lines across the dust. The strain of it ripples through his arm, a sharp tremor he cannot hide.

The nearest raider takes one backward step, then another. Behind them, metal groans again as the barricade starts to give under the pressure.

Hold. If they break, I go after the ones on the left.

I let out an intimidating roar and charge the raiders

Blue roars and surges out of the threshold, the hammer’s blue glare streaking across the room. The raiders flinch as one, their front line breaking before the impact reaches them.

He slams into the nearest pair and drives them back into the dusty approach, forcing the whole knot of attackers to stumble apart.

One raider drops his weapon and scrambles away from the doorway. Another throws up both hands, backing toward the shadowed alley beside the outpost wall.

Behind them, the barricade gives with a sick crack. The impact opens a gap in the entrance, and splinters spill into the corridor.

They’re breaking. Blue, left side!

Yellow pulls the child tighter against his chest inside the room, shielding her from the dust as the passage shakes.

The raiders’ advance collapses into panic, but the torn barricade now hangs open behind Blue, forcing the next choice fast.

I slam my hammer into the ground, causing a massive shockwave the pushes the raiders away

Blue drives the hammer down. The floor kicks back in a hard ring of dust and broken grit, and the shockwave hits the raiders like a wall.

Two stumble into each other and slam sideways into the outer rubble. Another loses footing at the lip of the approach and drops his rifle, arms windmilling as he reels back.

The blast also shudders through Blue’s own arms, and a hot crack of pain snaps up through his shoulder as the glowing stone flickers brighter for a moment.

Good. Keep them moving.

Inside, the torn barricade groans once, then collapses inward across the entry. Splinters and bent planks seal the gap enough to stop a rush through the doorway.

The raiders retreat in a ragged scatter into the alley shadows, leaving the approach open and the outpost’s entrance held for the moment.
