The pavilion herald opens a side door onto a moonlit balcony. Below, immense cliffs descend around blue harbor fires, while dragonkin vessels prepare for dawn.

You have a private interval before the next record is opened. The keeper will guard your testimony, and no question will reach you here.

Penelope steps onto the balcony beside Alexios, her Twin Flames still openly belted but her posture relaxed. Inside, Vaelith remains with the glowing tablet and waiting attendants.

Penelope

Penelope

There is something peaceful in seeing ships prepare without a crown directing every sail. I wonder what home will mean when travel is no longer an escape.

Wind rises from the blue water, carrying salt and distant bells. Lanterns move along the vessels below as their crews check rigging beneath the paling stars.

I refuse to become a relic’s servant, a ruler’s ornament, or a witness who forgets how to live. What do you refuse to become, Alexios?

The question rests between them beneath the open sky. Behind the closed door, the harbor preserves their words; beyond the rail, an unfamiliar dawn waits.

“Penelope, there something that I've been meaning to tell you for quite some time now, Ithaca once felt like home, but since my exile, even though we remade Ithaca, it doesn't feel like home to me anymore”

Alexios

Alexios

Penelope, there is something I have meant to tell you for quite some time. Ithaca once felt like home, but since my exile, it no longer does, even after we remade it.

The words pass into the salt wind and descend with it toward the harbor fires. Alexios’s clean linen dressing and shoulder sling remain secure as Penelope turns fully toward him.

Penelope

Penelope

He is not rejecting what we restored. He is trusting me with the wound exile left behind.

Penelope

Penelope

Then I will not ask you to call Ithaca home simply because we made it kinder. A place can be saved and still fail to hold every part of you.

Penelope rests her hand against his uninjured one, her azure scales silvered by the paling stars. Below, the vessels continue preparing without haste or command.

Penelope

Penelope

Perhaps home is not a shore we must return to. Perhaps it is what we choose together, wherever truth permits us to stand.

Penelope

Penelope

You do not owe Ithaca your belonging, Alexios. You gave it justice, honesty, and a future. What comes next can belong to us.

Alexios

I do not know what place will feel like home. I only know that, if you are there with me, I will be happy. I will never ask you to leave Ithaca for good. If you come with me, it must be by your own choice.

The harbor wind lifts the edge of Penelope’s cloak. Below, dawn touches the cliffs, while the first vessels cast loose from their moorings beneath the dragon banners.

Penelope

Penelope

He offers me a future without making it a demand. He trusts my choice enough to let it remain mine.

Penelope

Penelope

Then hear my choice clearly. I will not abandon Ithaca, because it is part of me. But I will not remain bound to one shore either. I want to travel with you.

Penelope turns toward the balcony rail, looking from the harbor to the unseen western roads. Her hand stays in Alexios’s, steady and deliberate.

Penelope

Penelope

I will return when Ithaca needs me, and leave when my heart calls me onward. We can make homes in more than one place, if we keep choosing each other freely.

Alexios returns through the side door with Penelope, keeping his injured shoulder guarded as the balcony’s wind gives way to the pavilion’s blue warmth.

His foot slips on the polished threshold. He catches himself against the stone frame, scraping his palm and jarring the sling, but remains upright and reaches the table.

Penelope

Penelope

Easy. You made it inside, and that is what matters. Let me see your hand before the record begins.

Penelope checks the shallow scrape, then settles beside him. Vaelith raises one claw, and the sealed tablet opens above the table in rings of silver fire.

The next record concerns the roads beyond Namaris. They were not built for conquest, but for lawful passage between peoples who feared isolation.

Images unfold across the air: cliff roads, distant valleys, and a mountainous horizon crowned by pale fire. Several routes bear names, while one remains deliberately unmarked.

The Pavilion Herald

One road leads to the dragon courts. Another reaches the free settlements beneath the western peaks. The unmarked road was sealed after its last witnesses vanished.
