Angela Diaboli settles back onto her throne in the rooftop garden, where vines spill over cracked stone and bright blooms soften the ruin below. The city of New Eden glitters beyond the rail, washed in clean rain-light.

Brutus plants his weapon at his side and lowers himself near her right, broad shoulders easing at last. Silas stands on her left, silent and watchful, but his posture softens as the threat passes into distance.

Peter steps closer with a bundle of fresh-cut greenery, the scent sharp and living in the warm air. He lays it near the throne and glances up with careful devotion.

I brought the sweetest leaves from the upper beds. Thought the queen should breathe something gentle for once.

A little apart, Azrael removes his coat’s tension from his frame and watches the others with a tired, relieved stillness, as if the garden has finally given him room to stop counting wounds.

Silas

The tower holds. For now. That is enough for one quiet hour.

The four of them gather close without crowding her, their weapons set aside, their attention fixed on Angela alone. Below them, the tower gives one slow groan, then quiets again, leaving only wind, blossoms, and the comfort of shared silence.

Angela’s words settle over the garden like warm rain. Brutus straightens first, then lets out a rough breath he seems to have been holding for hours.

Then we are fortunate, my queen, because I would choose this place, and this hour, over any victory.

Silas turns his head just enough to meet Angela’s gaze, the hard line of his mouth easing into something rarer than a smile.

Silas

Silas

You have us, Angela. That has never been in doubt.

Peter lowers the greenery to the stone at Angela’s feet, then places one hand over his chest as if the gesture is too full to keep inside.

Peter

Peter

If I can give you sweetness, rest, or a little peace, I will keep trying until the world ends for good.

Azrael’s tired face softens further, and he looks from one brother to the next, then back to Angela, as though measuring how much of the war has finally gone quiet inside them.

Azrael

Azrael

For a moment, the tower is not a wound. It is home.

Can we truly find a lasting peace within these walls?

NO, AND WORSE (Unlikely, rolled 95)

A sudden, wet rattle echoes from the garden floor, not from the city below, but from the very soil Peter just tended. Angela watches as a dark, viscous rot blooms instantly across the vibrant leaves, turning the greenery to black sludge.

Azrael

Azrael

The sickness... it is not just in the blood of the citizens. It is in the earth itself.

Angela Diaboli

Angela Diaboli

The peace is a lie, and the tower is already failing from within.

With all my divine might i smite the rot and heal the surrounding area

Angela raises her hand, and the black sludge at her feet jerks as if struck by a buried bell. The decay peels back from the stone in a single harsh shiver.

The rot breaks.

Color returns in a ripple around the throne, first to the moss, then to the leaves, then to the soil itself. The garden breathes easier.

Peter

Peter

It is holding... the garden is holding.

Azrael

The sickness recoils from her touch. This ground answers to her.

Then the tower is still ours.

Brutus

Good. Let it remember who guards it.

The Apostles straighten around her, the tension easing into quiet certainty while the wind stirs clean leaves above the city lights.
