Zamanie

Zamanie guides Sakara from the private chambers into a secluded conservatory. Silver-leafed plants glimmer around tiled fountains, while fragrant night flowers perfume the sheltered air.

A small table waits beside the nearest fountain, arranged with chilled fruit, spiced wine, fine garments, and a neat fan of invitations sealed with palace crests.

Zamanie

Zamanie

I thought you deserved a room that welcomed you before the palace began asking for your attention.

She sets one invitation apart from the others, then touches the folded garments: dark silk, deep purple velvet, and silver-threaded formal wear chosen for an audience.

Zamanie

Zamanie

Before I arrange the first reception in your name, what image do you want the palace to present? A gracious ally, a sovereign power, or something more dangerous?

Water slips over the fountain stones. Beyond the conservatory’s glass, servants pass at a respectful distance, leaving the invitations and the waiting choice entirely before Sakara.

“I have her help me into the formal, purple dress “dangerous has always worked well for me. Best not to break something that’s working””

Dangerous has always worked well for me. Best not to break something that is working.

Zamanie opens the conservatory chest and lifts out the formal purple dress, its dark silk falling in elegant lines with silver thread at the sleeves and waist. She helps Sakara step into it and fastens each clasp with careful hands.

Zamanie

Zamanie

Then dangerous it shall be. The palace will understand your intention before you speak a word.

The purple fabric settles against Sakara’s black scales, while silver accents catch the conservatory’s filtered light. Zamanie adjusts the fall of the skirt and places a matching dark wrap across Sakara’s shoulders.

Zamanie

Zamanie

There. Not merely welcomed, and not merely dressed for court. They will see someone whose favor is valuable and whose displeasure has consequences.

Zamanie sets the remaining invitations beside the fruit and wine, then steps back to present the completed image. The dangerous impression is no longer a promise on paper, but the first fact the palace will receive.

“I prepare to face Kendethar’s court. The dragon appearing not in his human form, but in his true draconic might”

Kendathar
Kendathar

Zamanie leads Sakara from the conservatory through carved doors into the palace’s highest audience hall. Gold-robed courtiers gather beneath vaulted windows, their attention fixing on the dangerous figure in purple silk.

The far doors open, and Kendathar enters in his true draconic might. His vast white body fills the hall’s height, silver eyes burning above folded wings as his claws meet the polished stone.

Zamanie

Zamanie

There is no need to make them imagine danger now. They can see precisely whose favor you carry.

Sakara advances as prepared, but the scale of Kendathar’s presence seizes the room’s attention before her entrance can command it. Her intended courtly image becomes an introduction to his overwhelming authority.

The courtiers lower themselves in a wave. Their fear gives Sakara one clear lesson: before this court, her strongest presentation is not imitation of a sovereign, but the privilege of being personally received by one.

Kendathar

Kendathar

Approach, Sakara. Let them witness the one I chose to stand at the center of my designs.

The court parts toward the dragon’s lowered head. The path before Sakara is no longer a performance she must force into shape, but a direct audience already opened by Kendathar himself.

“I decide to lean on the intimidation factor. I am Kendethar’s favored and most dangerous assassin. I let the court feel that”

Kendathar

Sakara advances beneath the vaulted windows, purple silk whispering over the marble. She keeps her blindfolded face lifted toward Kendathar, carrying his favor as calmly as she carries her glaive.

She stops within the dragon’s lowered shadow and turns slightly, allowing the court to feel the deliberate confidence of the assassin standing at his side. No plea, flourish, or explanation softens the impression.

Kendathar

Kendathar

Look well. She does not borrow authority from my presence. My presence confirms hers.

The assembled court lowers its gaze. A few courtiers retreat until their robes brush the pillars, while the rest hold perfectly still, suddenly conscious of every word they might choose.

Zamanie

Zamanie

They feared the dragon. Now they understand they must also fear disappointing her.

Kendathar

Kendathar

This court will remember the distinction. Sakara is not merely favored. She is the consequence of my favor given purpose.

Silence answers him, immediate and complete. When the courtiers finally bow, it is no longer ceremony alone, but recognition that Sakara’s danger now has a place within the palace’s order.

“I give my report on what happened in the ruby isles and the founding of the stars of the ruby isles”

SUCCESS (Legendary Persuasion, rolled +1)

Sakara

Sakara

I went into the Ruby Isles as Kendathar’s instrument and found more than isolated loyalties. Veyra Ashmark pledged the Red Tide, and Nalia Sere secured the river clans’ alliance while keeping their routes and councils their own.

The court listens without shifting. Kendathar’s lowered head remains still, while Zamanie stands near the edge of the hall, visibly attentive to every detail carried from her homeland.

Sakara

Sakara

At the golden gate, Marrek Sol witnessed my victory over Tarek Voss and recorded the Claws of the Moon as the premier voice among the Stars.

Sakara

Sakara

The six northern tribes, the river people, and the Red Tide then accepted one union: the Stars of the Ruby Isles. Their councils remain theirs, while trade and defense bind them together under Kendathar’s alliance.

The report settles over the hall as a complete political map rather than a traveler’s tale. Several courtiers bow toward Sakara, recalibrating her from favored assassin to architect of a new power.

Kendathar

Kendathar

You have given the court the truth of what was built: not submission, but an alliance whose members retain their own authority. Let them understand whose vision made that unity possible.

Zamanie

Zamanie

And let them understand that the Ruby Isles did not vanish into his shadow. They chose this together, because Sakara gave them terms worth carrying home.

“I complete my report, bow to the dragon, and exit to the side the room to listen to their other reports from Kendethar’s agents”

SUCCESS (Legendary Persuasion, rolled +1)

Sakara

Sakara

The court has heard the shape of the alliance, and Kendathar has heard my part in making it real.

Sakara completes the report with a precise bow toward Kendathar. His lowered head remains still, but the court feels the weight of his attention settle over her words.

Kendathar

Kendathar

Your report is complete, and your account will stand before this court. Go, listen now, and learn what my other agents have uncovered.

Sakara withdraws along the side of the hall, purple silk whispering over marble. Zamanie follows her to the shadow of a carved pillar as the gathered court turns toward the next reports.

Kendathar's Agents

The western harbors remain cooperative. The inland houses are divided, but none has yet rejected the Moon Prince’s authority.

From her place beside the pillar, Sakara listens without interrupting. Each report adds another piece to the palace’s understanding of Kendathar’s expanding influence, while Zamanie quietly tracks the speakers.
