A boom rolls over Detroit, distant but deep enough to rattle the front windows. Thadeus, Marla, Elias, and Elizabeth rush to the bay glass.
Outside, the suburban road is in chaos. People sprint past parked cars, and several feral, undead-like figures lunge into the fleeing crowd.
Marla Brewer
Oh my God...
Marla goes ghost-pale and stumbles back from the window. Elias catches her by the arm and pulls her away from the glass.
Thadeus Jovanović
Elias, take Marla upstairs. Spare bedroom. Barricade it now.
Elias
Right, yes. Marla, come on.
Elizabeth Bathory
This is spreading faster than it should.
As Elias guides Marla toward the stairs, Thadeus keeps his eyes on the street. The nearest body is already moving like it knows where to find the next door.

Barricade the spare bedroom
Director's note
The police are present in the scene, with some officers shooting and downing zombies, while others are seen being attacked and killed by these pale zombies
“Elias takes Marla upstairs to Thadeus's spare bedroom, locking them both inside and barricading the door with a nearby dresser. Thadeus and Elizabeth rush outside and survey the scene. There are dozens of bodies on the road and sidewalks, some with zombies feasting on corpses, while more of them lumber around looking for more flesh. Thadeus pulls out Peacebringer, concentrating his energy into morphing Peacebringer into its original chain whip form, ready to destroy any undead creatures. Elizabeth extends her hands, changing their form into sharp claws, also ready to strike the undead..”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -2)
Elias hauls Marla up the stairs while Thadeus and Elizabeth push through the front door into the fading light.
The street is torn open by panic, police flashes, and bodies scattered across the asphalt. Some pale figures crouch over the fallen, while others wander with that empty, searching drift.
Thadeus Jovanović
The first one is still moving.
Thadeus draws Peacebringer and forces it into its chain whip form, the metal length snapping out with a sharp blue glint.
The shift costs him a burst of breath and a hard jolt through his forearm, but the weapon settles ready in his grip.
Elizabeth Bathory
They are everywhere. Stay close.
Beside him, Elizabeth spreads her hands, fingers twisting into clawed shapes as she squares herself toward the road and the nearest dead thing.

Elias shoves Marla ahead of him up the stairs, one hand braced at her back, the other already reaching for the upper landing railing.
A heavy thud answers from above as the spare bedroom door swings shut, then a scrape of wood drags against the floor.
At the window, a pale face-shaped blur hangs for a heartbeat in the glass, then slips away into the flashing streetlight.
Thadeus Jovanović
The road is full of them.
Thadeus tightens his grip and drives his focus into Peacebringer, the chain settling straight and ready in his hands.
Elizabeth spreads her fingers into hooked claws beside him, shoulders low, eyes locked on the nearest staggerer in the street.
Elizabeth Bathory
If they reach the porch, I take the front.
Outside, police muzzle flashes stutter through the dark while more pale bodies drift through the wreckage toward the house, drawn by the open door.
