Adventure of Noah 1

The forest drops into a concrete-edged ravine. Noah finds the wolf pack below, boxed between sealed corporate gates and a tightening ring of armored city hunters.

The hunters are adult men and women in matte gray armor, mirrored visors, and heavy restraint launchers. Red targeting dots crawl across fur and stone, but no one fires.

Above them, a black command drone hovers beneath the trees, its camera iris widening as antennae pulse with cold blue light.

The pack presses together beneath the ravine wall, hackles raised. One wolf bares its teeth toward Noah, then looks back at the hunters closing the exits.

Noah drops into the ravine, landing between stone and armored figures. Her sword clears its sheath before the nearest hunter can reposition.

She moves with blinding precision. The first two hunters are killed by her sweeping strikes; the third collapses after her kick, and Noah runs him through.

The remaining perimeter freezes. Targeting dots vanish from the wolves and gather across Noah's fur clothing, while the command drone pivots sharply overhead.

The wolves surge behind Noah, slipping toward the opened section of road. Armored hunters raise their restraint launchers, but none dares fire as the drone's blue iris pulses.

Noah plants one boot against the ravine wall and launches upward. Her fur clothing snaps in the wind as she rebounds from stone to stone, climbing through the hunters’ startled aim.

The command drone tracks her too late. Noah twists off the opposite wall, sword flashing across its blue-lit iris and splitting the hovering machine cleanly in two.

The severed halves spark and tumble into the ravine. Its targeting dots vanish from Noah and the wolves, leaving only the hunters’ raised launchers and the sudden hiss of cooling circuitry.

With the command link dead, the armored line falters. The wolves race through the opened road, paws striking concrete as they pass behind Noah and disappear between the corporate barriers.

Emergency lights ignite along the sealed gates, painting the ravine red. The surviving hunters keep their distance, trapped between Noah’s sword and the empty air where their machine watched.

The wolves reach the gap between the corporate barriers and spill into the forest, vanishing beneath wet branches and black surveillance mesh.

The last wolf catches a discarded restraint filament around one hind leg. It tears free, but leaves a shallow cut and a bright smear of blood on the concrete.

A hunter lowers his launcher and stares toward the trees. The filament's locator bead blinks once, broadcasting a weak tracking signal into the rain.

Behind Noah, the broken drone spits its final sparks. Ahead, branches shudder as the pack scatters deeper into the forest, carrying the signal with them.

Noah runs after the wolves, crossing the concrete gap and plunging beneath wet branches. Surveillance mesh snags her fur clothing, then tears loose as she drives deeper into the forest.

The pack moves fast through black undergrowth, but Noah follows their pawprints, broken twigs, and the faint metallic blink carried by the injured wolf.

Behind her, the surviving hunters remain at the corporate barrier. Their red emergency lights fade between the trunks while rain swallows the ruined drone’s last sparks.

Noah reaches a hollow beneath leaning pines. The wolves gather there, alert and breathing hard, their bodies forming a guarded circle around the injured packmate.

The locator bead still blinks around the wolf’s hind leg. Its shallow cut has stopped bleeding, and the pack watches Noah as the forest settles into rain and distant machinery.
