The Tunnel-Warden's token touches the Guardian's light, and the chamber answers. The child's face is washed in silver, then hardens into a look far older than his years.
The chant from the floor swells through him, not as possession, but recognition. The mound knows him. It knows his blood.

The Child
I have been here before... or my line has.

The Guardian
Ward-born. Seal-born. The vow returns in the small one.

The Tunnel-Warden
By the old stones... he bears the mark. I thought the line ended.
The murmur deepens to a steady refrain, and the hidden opening breathes cold air at the child's feet. The wolves outside go quiet, as if they, too, remember to fear this place.
Bjor stands between child and dark, while the chamber reveals its secret. The boy is no stray. He is heir, witness, and key.
✓ Quest Accepted
Keep the child free of the spirit's influence
“I grab the boy's shoulder and pull him back toward the chamber exit.”
SUCCESS (Good Strength, rolled -2)
Bjor closes on the boy in one clean motion and hauls him back from the opening. The child stumbles into the safer half of the chamber, toy crushed against his chest. The pull tears a sharp gasp from him, and the silver light wavers across the stone.

The Child
It knows me... but I am not ready to go where it calls.

The Guardian
Hold him there. The vow stirs, and the depths are listening.
The floor opening exhales colder now, and the murmur threads upward into a thin, questioning song. The Tunnel-Warden recoils, token still in hand, as if the chamber has rejected his bargain.

The Tunnel-Warden
No. Not like this... the line should answer, not wake.
The boy twists against Bjor’s grip, then freezes, staring down into the glow with a frightened, far-off recognition. The nearest wolf at the threshold lifts its head and whines, sensing the change.
Bjor keeps the child back, but the chamber has changed around them. The hidden passage is open, the old voice is active, and everyone in the room feels the tug of it.
“I demand the Warden name the vow”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled +2)

Bjor Ravenhelm
Name the vow, Warden. Say what this place is asking of the boy.

The Tunnel-Warden
It is an old keeping, bound to blood and witness. The first heir was meant to return when the dead called, and speak for the line that sealed the depths.

The Guardian
At last, the living ask the right question.

The Tunnel-Warden
I was set to guide a rightful voice, not wake a forgetting. If the child answers, the mound opens its trust. If he does not... the bargain breaks.

The Child
I do know this place. I have heard it before, in dreams, by the stones. It calls me like it remembers me.
The silver glow softens around the boy instead of dragging at him, and the murmur below settles into a waiting hush.

The Guardian
Then witness him, bard. The heir stands between vow and depth. Let him choose.
