The Unbreakable Fighter

The gym is still from the first exchange. Regina and the young fighter circle under bright white lights, gloves high, feet skimming polished mat. Coach Sun watches from the edge, tense and quiet.

The Young Fighter steps in hard, trying to earn the room. His shoulder snaps forward, and his fist drives into Regina's upper arm with a heavy crack.

The blow dies against her like it hits packed stone. Regina barely shifts. A dull thud rolls through the room, wrong and deep, and the young fighter jerks back with a hiss, clutching his own hand.

Leo

Leo

What the hell...?

A few gym fighters flinch at the sound. Coach Sun's eyes widen, his respect turning sharp and wary as he studies Regina's shoulder, then her face.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

That was not toughness. That was something else.

The silence deepens around Regina. The test has changed. Now everyone in the room understands that hitting her is not simple, and that makes her dangerous in a new way.

Regina is not using steroids, her strength is 100% natural, however the others don't know this yet. Do they think she's cheating?

NO (Likely, rolled 83)

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

She is not using anything. I have seen every shortcut in this business, and this is not a chemical edge. It is something else entirely.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

You are clean. I have been looking for a needle in a haystack, but you are just... built different.

"I know" she says to the coach while flexing her roght arm, the bicep bulging to impossible size. She uses her left arm to kand a quick gut punch on the young fighter, sending him to the ground without injuring him too much

SUCCESS (Superb Hand-to-Hand Combat, rolled -2)

The Unbreakable Fighter
Regina King

Regina King

I know.

Regina lifts her right arm and the muscle swells hard under the chain tattoo, a blunt display of control that makes the room go still.

Her left hand snaps in and drives a short body shot into A Young Fighter's gut, clean and restrained, and he folds to the mat with a shocked gasp.

The young fighter does not stay hurt long, but he lands awkwardly and skids backward on the polished floor, stung more by the humiliation than the impact.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

That is not normal strength. That kind of control, at that size, it should not move like that.

Coach Sun's expression tightens as the cash test in his hand suddenly feels smaller than the problem standing in front of him.

Leo

Leo

What are you?

I offer a helping hand to the young fighter and tell the coach "I am me, and that's good enough."

SUCCESS (Good Performance, rolled -2)

The Unbreakable Fighter

Regina lowers her hand to the young fighter instead of looming over him. The room stays quiet, but the choice lands hard.

Regina King

Regina King

I am me, and that is good enough.

A Young Fighter stares at the offered hand, then takes it with his unbroken one. Regina hauls him up in one smooth pull, and the strain costs her a sharp sting through the knuckles that struck him.

Leo

Leo

She is not acting scared at all.

Coach Sun watches the handshake, then looks from Regina to the cracked confidence in his own test. His grip tightens on the envelope, and his suspicion settles deeper.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

You are not just tough. You are a problem I need to understand.

A Young Fighter stays standing beside her, humbled and silent, while the polished floor catches the harsh overhead lights. No one in the gym looks relaxed anymore.

The Unbreakable Fighter

I have spent my whole life training to become the best. I am one of if not the number one strongest woman in the world, snd its all from pure dedication and training

SUCCESS (Great Willpower, rolled +0)

The Unbreakable Fighter

Regina lets the silence sit, then answers Coach Sun with her posture more than her voice, chest lifted and shoulders set like the room is already measured and conquered.

Regina King

Regina King

I have spent my whole life training for this. I am one of the strongest women in the world, and that comes from pure dedication.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

Pure dedication can be studied. Pure impact cannot.

The young fighter rubs his bruised knuckles and looks from Regina to Coach Sun, still shaken, but listening like he cannot look away.

Leo

Leo

She hit me like my guard was empty. That is not normal.

Coach Sun folds the envelope once, then again, as if the cash itself has become part of the test. His eyes do not leave Regina.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

If you are built by discipline alone, then show me the shape of that discipline. Tell me what it cost you.

It cost me relationships with my family and friends. It cost me my grades in school and it ultimately cost me my home. My parents kicked me out when i git kicked out of high-school, i had to take a job at my gym cleaning toilets so they'd let me skeep there because i had nowhere else to go. But i didn't let anything stoo me from becoming what i wanted to become. Despite everything i am happy, successful and powerful.

FAILURE (Great Willpower, rolled -1)

Regina answers by letting the words land cleanly. She stands square to Coach Sun, shoulders steady, as if the floor itself has to account for her history.

Regina King

Regina King

It costs me everything before it gives me anything. Family, friends, school, even a place to stay. I keep training anyway.

A Young Fighter’s eyes widen at the confession, then drop. He shifts his weight, suddenly unsure whether he is watching a brag or a warning.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

You slept in the gym?

Regina King

Regina King

I cleaned toilets there so they’d let me stay.

Coach Sun’s brows lift, but the old suspicion does not leave. It sharpens, like he is trying to measure whether discipline can explain that kind of hunger.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

Most fighters tell me what they won. You are telling me what you surrendered.

Regina’s silence after that feels deliberate, almost heavier than the confession. Coach Sun looks at the envelope in his hand, then back at her, reading the gap between hardship and ease.

Leo

Leo

Then what are you, really?

Im a girl with a dream of being a champion, and ill sacrifice everything if it means I've made it.

SUCCESS (Great Willpower, rolled +1)

The Unbreakable Fighter
Leo

Leo

Then what are you, really?

Regina lets the question sit. She lifts her chin, calm as a locked gate, and the answer is in her stance before she gives it words.

Regina King

Regina King

I am a girl with a dream of being a champion, and I will sacrifice everything if it means I make it.

The room absorbs it. A Young Fighter straightens a little, no longer looking at her like a puzzle. Coach Sun’s eyes narrow, not with doubt now, but with the hard focus of a man measuring something he cannot comfortably explain.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

That is not the answer I expected.

He turns the envelope once in his hand, then folds it flat again, as if cash and confession have become the same kind of test. His approval does not soften, but it does become heavier, more cautious.

Leo

Leo

You really mean all of that?

Regina’s stillness answers before anyone else can. Around them, the gym stays quiet, but the silence now feels like attention, not doubt.

Lying gets people nowhere. The truth always emerges eventually

SUCCESS (Great Willpower, rolled +1)

Regina lets the quiet hold. Her shoulders stay loose, her stance settled, like truth costs her nothing.

Leo

Leo

You mean it. All of it.

He says it softer this time, not as a challenge. He looks from her face to her feet, then back again, as if checking for a trick and finding none.

Regina King

Regina King

She is saying exactly what she means.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

Most fighters sell an image. You are not selling one.

Coach Sun lowers the envelope to his side. The suspicion in his eyes does not leave, but it changes shape, now aimed at the depth of Regina’s resolve instead of her honesty.

Leo

Leo

That kind of answer only comes from somebody who has already paid for it.

The room stays still around them. No one moves in to break the moment, and for the first time since the test began, the silence feels like respect.

Does this mean they'll give me a chance

YES (Likely, rolled 36)

The Unbreakable Fighter
Coach Sun

Coach Sun

You have the discipline of a master, Regina. I have been looking for someone with your specific kind of fire to represent this gym.

Leo

Leo

I am Leo, by the way. If you are staying, I could use a partner who actually pushes back.

Regina King

Regina King

The door is finally open.

She smiles and wraps her arms around Leo and the coach, hugging them tightly to show her appreciation and promising she wont disappoint

SUCCESS (Good Performance, rolled +3)

Regina steps in with a smile and folds both men into a quick, crushing hug. Leo laughs under the surprise of it, and Coach Sun goes still, then eases into the embrace with careful hands.

Regina King

Regina King

Thanks. I will not disappoint you.

Leo

Leo

That is a heavyweight promise if I have ever heard one.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

Good. I prefer fighters who mean it when they say something.

Leo gives Regina a firmer look now, already picturing rounds. Coach Sun accepts the moment, but his eyes stay sharp, measuring the strength behind her warmth.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

Come back tomorrow. I want to see how you move when nobody is watching your first impression.

He slips the envelope back into Regina's hand, this time like an invitation, not a test. The gym settles around them, polished floor glowing under the lights.

The Unbreakable Fighter

She promises the ciach she'll be here before turning to Leo and asking if she can stay at his place

SUCCESS (Great Willpower, rolled -1)

The Unbreakable Fighter
Regina King

Regina King

Coach Sun, I will be here before dawn.

The promise lands cleanly. Coach Sun gives a small nod, but his eyes sharpen as if he is filing the line away for later.

Regina King

Regina King

Leo, can I stay at your place tonight?

Leo

Leo

Yeah. You can crash at my place. I got a couch, and I can make space.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

She asks like it is nothing. That kind of calm can be discipline, or something harder to read.

Leo scratches the back of his neck, smiling despite himself, while Coach Sun studies Regina with a new, wary focus.

Coach Sun

Coach Sun

If you stay here, you train here. If you leave with him, come back rested. I want proof, not stories.

She nods to the coach before motioning for Leo to lead the way home

SUCCESS (Great Agility, rolled -1)
