Quorpeck plants his rune-blade against the water-slick seal and channels power into the door. The black ink on his gauntlet twitches, then leaps, searching for a warmer home.

The Helm-Bearer recoils as violet light gutters inside the helm. The Black Ledger pushes at the rim of her curse, testing Quorpeck's blade, his gauntlet, anything tied to him by blood or oath.

A thin line of ink-script crawls from Quorpeck's gauntlet to the hilt of his weapon, then stops at a rune flare. Water behind the seal hammers louder, as if something vast turns in the dark below.

The door answers with a grinding shudder. For one breath, the Ledger's pulse gathers in the helm, the gauntlet, and the blade at once, linking them into a single, dangerous chain.

Quorpeck rips the black helm free and brings it down hard against the sealed door. Metal cracks on stone, and the rune-blade follows through in the same motion, striking the helm a second time with a flash of violet sparks.

The seal bucks under the blow. Ink-script on his gauntlet splits apart, and the chained pulse between helm, blade, and door shudders loose.

A wet groan rolls through the stone. The door yields inward with a grinding lurch, and the rush of water behind it swells into a roar.

The Clerk stumbles back through the flood, staring at the opening as spectral text flickers in the dark beyond, sketching the shape of a sealed archive heart.
