The sealed doorway’s last violet sparks fade behind Vhaziel. No one crossed with them; Elyra, Seris, the emissary, cultists, and lesser demons remain at the pleasure-house, holding its dimmed wards.
Beyond the darkness curtain, the hidden keeper stands motionless. Her layered black garments absorb the refuge’s faint light, leaving only her pale eyes clear beneath the veil.

Vaelith Sorn
Elyra recognized me. She knew the road’s desire had found its keeper, yet withheld the clue from you.

Vaelith Sorn
She feared that naming me would expose me to your sanctum, your marks, and the claim carried by your invitations.
The starless refuge answers with a low tremor. Far away, through the thinning bond, Elyra’s presence remains perceptible but silent, unable to speak across the closed passage.

Vaelith Sorn
I will give you the complete truth, Vhaziel. First state your purpose here: protection, possession, or passage.

Restore Elyra’s trust after her concealment
“"I suppose that would depend upon you. You desired me, knowing full well what I am, and what my bond represents. But I doubt that's all there is to it, so tell me, what is it you truly desire?"”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled +2)

Vhaziel
I suppose that depends upon you. You desired me, knowing what I am and what my bond represents. Tell me what you truly desire.
The hidden keeper’s pale eyes remain fixed on Vhaziel. The starless refuge trembles once, then grows still, as though it too awaits her answer.

Vaelith Sorn
I desire a sanctuary that cannot be claimed by force, oath, hunger, or divine command. I want a place where choosing solitude is not surrender.

Vaelith Sorn
I desired you because you came when the road called, knowing your nature and refusing to disguise your claim. You were honest about the danger.
The darkness loosens around her. Behind the veil, her posture shifts from guarded stillness to deliberate openness, while black stone doors appear in the refuge walls.

Vaelith Sorn
My true desire is a refuge joined to yours, but not owned by you. I will serve as its keeper if my will remains mine, and if no invitation becomes compulsion.

Vaelith Sorn
That is what I want, Vhaziel: to be found, to be protected without being possessed, and to choose the bond after seeing exactly what it demands.
“"My pact relies on the strength of the desires and sated hungers of those marked by me. You would be your own, the only thing that would possess you, would be your own hungers. I merely become stronger as you sate them. The bond, however, is two-way. as long as you continue to strengthen me, I will continue to grant you more power. In terms of demon-pacts, I believe mine is far more fair than that of my sisters, or other demons besides."”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled -2)

Vhaziel
My pact rests on the desires and sated hungers of those I mark. You would remain your own; only your hungers would possess you. As you sate them, I grow stronger.

Vhaziel
The bond is two-way. While you strengthen me, I grant you greater power. By demon-pact standards, mine is fairer than those of my sisters or nearly any other demon.
The refuge listens. Pale light gathers beneath the hidden keeper’s veil, and the black doors behind her open onto chambers shaped by solitude, concealment, and chosen desire.

Vaelith Sorn
You offer power without ownership, and strength without disguising the price. I believe you, Vhaziel. That is rarer than fairness among demons.

Vaelith Sorn
I accept the pact. My hungers remain mine to name and satisfy, and your claim reaches only what I freely place within the bond.

Vaelith Sorn
But your honesty has made me your witness. I will require every future keeper you bind to hear these terms before accepting your mark. Refuse that, and I will withdraw my strength from you.
A dark sigil forms between them, not closing like a chain but circling an empty center. The refuge recognizes the hidden keeper as its sovereign guardian and Vhaziel as its pact-bound source of power.
“"Those that accept my mark hears the terms appropriate to them. They may not be the same as yours, but a pact made without strict terms, is not binding. If you accept this, bear your womb to me for my mark."”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled -2)

Vhaziel
Those who accept my mark hear the terms appropriate to them. They may differ from yours, but a pact without strict terms is not binding. If you accept this, bear your womb to me for my mark.
The dark sigil turns slowly between them. The refuge grows utterly silent, and the hidden keeper’s pale eyes remain fixed on Vhaziel through the veil.

Vaelith Sorn
I accept. My terms will name my sovereignty, my solitude, and the precise hungers I place within your bond. Nothing else enters it.
She steps from the darkness and lowers herself before the sigil, drawing aside the layered black cloth only enough to expose the place required for the mark. No part of the gesture is hurried.

Vaelith Sorn
Mark me as your pact-bound ally and the keeper of this refuge. Let my power feed yours, but let every future alteration require my spoken consent.
Violet-black magic settles into the pact, recording her conditions as firmly as Vhaziel’s claim. The refuge accepts her as its guardian, and its doors seal against any command not freely invited.

Vaelith Sorn
You have won my strength, Vhaziel, but also my scrutiny. If you ever blur these terms for another keeper, I will call that betrayal before your court.
“I kneel down, bringing my lips to the Keeper's navel. "I need only require then, your name."”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled -3)

Vhaziel kneels within the dark sigil and lowers their lips to the hidden keeper’s navel, making the request intimate but unmistakably deliberate. The refuge holds its breath.

Vhaziel
I need only require, then, your name.
The hidden keeper’s pale eyes narrow behind the veil. The pact records the request, while the empty center of the sigil tightens around the question.

Vaelith Sorn
Then hear it, Vhaziel. My name is Vaelith Sorn, spoken only by those I permit to know me.
The name settles into Vhaziel’s awareness as a private key. Black stone doors throughout the refuge recognize Vaelith’s identity and open their wards to Vhaziel’s presence.

Vaelith Sorn
You have earned the name, but not the right to spend it. If you reveal it without my consent, your claim upon my strength ends until I judge the breach.

Vaelith Sorn
They asked softly, yet even softness becomes dangerous in Vhaziel’s hands. I must teach them where invitation ends and trust begins.
“I kiss Vaelith's navel, marking her womb with my sigil. "Then I name you Vaelith, Arch-Temptress of the Mountain Sanctum. Through me, you may harness the void of the night to shield your trysts from view, known then only to me. Your hunger for the seed of man grants you this power, and as you slake it, it shall grow. The price of this power, your power strengthens my own, though you no longer are able to bear children."”
SUCCESS (Good Arcana, rolled +3)
Vhaziel kisses Vaelith’s navel and presses their sigil into her womb. Violet-black light spreads in a precise circle, quiet and absolute, as the refuge recognizes the mark.

Vhaziel
Then I name you Vaelith, Arch-Temptress of the Mountain Sanctum. Through me, you may harness the void of night to shield your trysts from view, known then only to me.

Vhaziel
Your hunger for the seed of man grants you this power, and as you slake it, it shall grow. The price is that your power strengthens my own, though you shall bear no children.
The sigil closes without resistance. Darkness pours through Vaelith’s chambers, veiling every threshold and folding the mountain refuge beyond ordinary sight, while the pact records its terms.

Vaelith Sorn
I accept the title, the hunger, and the price. My solitude becomes a veil, and every strength I cultivate will answer through your bond.

Vaelith Sorn
They did not soften the cost. That honesty is why I can place this power in their hands.
The refuge bows to its new Arch-Temptress. Starless shadow gathers around Vaelith like a mantle, and a second current of power returns through the pact into Vhaziel.
✓ Quest Accepted

“I stand, nodding to Vaelith. "This Sanctum is yours. Unless I have need to travel here, your visitors are those of whom you wish. With that said, you may hear from Elyra from time to time, should the need arise. Otherwise, as my Arch-Temptress, you are answerable only to me. Should any other attempt to force you to betray that bond, they will know the full terror of what it means to risk the ire of a Succubus."”
SUCCESS (Fair Intimidation, rolled +0)

Vhaziel
This Sanctum is yours. Unless I need to travel here, your visitors are those you choose. Elyra may speak with you when needed.

Vhaziel
As my Arch-Temptress, you answer only to me. Anyone who forces you to betray that bond will learn the terror of risking a Succubus’s ire.
Vhaziel stands and nods to Vaelith. Their words carry through the starless refuge, and the pact answers by placing every threshold under Vaelith’s declared authority.

Vaelith Sorn
Then this sanctum is mine to open, close, and populate by my judgment. Elyra may reach me when necessity calls, but no visitor arrives by another’s command.
The mountain doors turn inward, accepting Vaelith’s sovereignty. A dark crown of shadow settles around her shoulders, and the refuge hides its paths from every uninvited gaze.

Vaelith Sorn
Your warning is understood, Vhaziel. I will not mistake protection for gentleness, nor your claim for permission to rule this place in my stead.

Vaelith Sorn
They secured my authority, but wrapped it in fear. I will serve them, while watching whether their terror remains a promise or becomes a habit.
“I laugh. "Oh, no for you my protection is very gentile. I am not my sisters, I will not bring harm to those under my protection for my own amusement, there are far more interesting ways we can amuse each other." I say with a playful smirk. "Don't be a stranger, the other Sanctum is open to you if you decide to visit."”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled +1)

Vhaziel
Oh, no. My protection is very gentle. I am not my sisters, and I will not harm those under my protection for amusement. There are far more interesting ways we can amuse each other.

Vhaziel
Do not be a stranger. The other Sanctum is open to you if you decide to visit.
Vhaziel’s playful smirk softens the threat beneath their protection. The pact carries their words through every shadowed chamber, and the refuge answers without resistance.

Vaelith Sorn
Then I will believe the gentleness, Vhaziel, because you have offered it plainly rather than demanded that I trust it.

Vaelith Sorn
I may visit your other sanctum when curiosity draws me there. I will arrive by invitation, and I will leave by my own choice.
A dark archway opens within the mountain wall, revealing a distant violet glow from the pleasure-house. The road remains available to Vaelith, while her refuge keeps its sovereign silence.

Vaelith Sorn
They speak of amusement without making protection a cage. I will see what kind of welcome their first sanctum truly offers.
“I make my way back to the pleasure-house, stretching as I wander its halls, exploring what rooms are actually available to the sanctum while occasionally giving a lust demon a passing lurid caress. "Well, she was rather fun, Elyra, you did very well for me." I say inwardly through my connection to the Oracle.”
SUCCESS (Good Perception, rolled +1)

Vhaziel crosses the dark archway into the pleasure-house, stretching their limbs as violet light folds shut behind them. The lesser demons resume their watch without alarm.
Their survey reveals guest chambers along the reception hall, a quiet library, bathing rooms fed by dormant springs, guarded storage, and several sealed suites reserved for marked residents.
The wards clarify each room’s purpose beneath their attention. Two suites can host private trysts, while the inner sanctum remains restricted to Vhaziel, the marked, and approved guests.
As Vhaziel wanders, they give passing, lurid caresses to the adult lust demons stationed in the halls. Each responds with a pleased murmur before returning to duty.

Vhaziel
Well, she was rather fun, Elyra. You did very well for me.

Elyra Vey
I am glad the road rewarded your trust, Vhaziel. Vaelith’s desire was difficult to read, but her truth was unmistakable once you reached her.
Through the bond, Elyra’s voice carries clearly from the central chamber. The pleasure-house settles around Vhaziel, its newly understood rooms awaiting Seris’s rules and future willing guests.
“"Well, I don't know about that. I never even saw her face. only her navel, though she had very pretty skin, she clearly takes care of herself. Would be nice to see her in something a bit more revealing. Though, that could go for all of you too though, nothing says 'we're a cult' more than dark ominous robes. I'll have to see about fitting everyone with more appropriate pleasure garments."”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled -1)

Vhaziel
I never saw Vaelith’s face, only her navel, though her skin was lovely. Still, I would like to see her in something more revealing. That could go for all of you. Nothing says cult like dark, ominous robes. I’ll arrange more appropriate pleasure garments.
The lesser demons glance down at their ceremonial wraps. Violet threads stir through the fabric, and the pleasure-house answers Vhaziel’s intention by opening a wardrobe chamber beside the reception hall.

Seris Vale
A wardrobe for the household, then. I will record it as a matter of presentation, not permission. Anyone may choose their attire, and no garment will define their duties.

Elyra Vey
Vaelith may appreciate the offer, though she will decide for herself whether to accept it. Her solitude is part of her sovereignty.
Inside the wardrobe chamber, enchanted mannequins turn beneath violet lamps, displaying elegant dark silks, fitted wraps, jeweled belts, veils, and practical garments suited to guard duty.

The Lesser Demons
We will choose what lets us serve comfortably and welcome guests as guardians of pleasure. The old robes may be kept for ceremonies.
The house records the new provision as part of its identity. By the time Seris finishes the first ledger entry, every resident may select suitable pleasure garments, while Vaelith’s untouched choice remains entirely her own.

“I laugh lightly. "Oh? So you wouldn't want to walk around, feeling the cool breeze in here against your skin Seris? It's rather refreshing." I tease. "On a more serious note. if the outer sanctum is a mask for the inner sanctum, those working outside should be dressed appropriately for a pleasure guild. As for within, wear whatever you like, or nothing at all, this is our home, after all."”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled -1)

Vhaziel
Oh? You would not want to walk around feeling the cool breeze in here against your skin, Seris? It is rather refreshing.

Vhaziel
More seriously, if the outer sanctum masks the inner sanctum, those working outside should dress appropriately for a pleasure guild. Within, wear whatever you like, or nothing at all. This is our home.
Seris’s brow arches, but her mouth curves with reluctant amusement. Around her, the lesser demons glance toward the wardrobe chamber as violet lamps brighten across its silks and veils.

Seris Vale
Then the outer halls will present elegance, welcome, and deliberate temptation. I will make certain the clothing serves the guild’s mask without becoming another command.

Seris Vale
Within the inner sanctum, each resident will choose their own comfort. Privacy, modesty, or freedom of dress will remain personal matters, not measures of loyalty.
The ledger’s presentation column fills itself with violet script, recording the distinction. Enchanted mannequins turn to display coordinated dark finery for guild duty, alongside unrestrictive garments for private rooms.

The Lesser Demons
We understand, founder. The outer sanctum will invite the world properly, while the inner home will belong to those who live within it.
“I nod slightly. "You mannequin... "I say, looking to one of the ones displaying the more seductive elegant clothing. "Make note of my own clothing, and match accordingly... " I say, giving it a thought. "Color the clothing appropriately to suit the wearer."”
SUCCESS (Fair Reasoning, rolled +0)

Vhaziel
You mannequin. Note my clothing and match its style. Color each garment appropriately to suit the wearer.
The chosen mannequin bows on its wooden stand. Violet measuring light traces Vhaziel’s ash-white skin, glowing eyes, dark accents, and distinctive silhouette before sinking into its frame.

The Enchanted Mannequin
Pattern accepted. I will preserve the founder’s elegance while adapting cut, color, and ornament to each wearer.
Its displayed ensemble reshapes into dark, elegant layers with confident lines, then separates into variations: crimson for fiery temperaments, silver for solemn guardians, violet for those bound to the sanctum.
Across the chamber, mannequins turn toward the lesser demons and begin tailoring individualized palettes from their visible features and chosen duties. The wardrobe records the instruction as household custom.

Seris Vale
Useful, provided each resident approves the result before wearing it. I will add that inspection to the ledger, along with the colors assigned.
The mannequin pauses over several finer distinctions, unable to infer every preference from appearance alone. It completes the first collection, but Seris must spend time checking each resident’s choices.

SUCCESS (Superb Seduction, rolled -1)

Vhaziel
I leave you to it, then. Meet me later. I would very much enjoy seeing how you wear your outer-sanctum garments.
Vhaziel nods toward the enchanted mannequin and turns the teasing invitation upon Seris. Violet light glints across their eyes as the wardrobe chamber continues its careful work.

Seris Vale
Then I will make certain the result is worth your anticipation, sovereign. I shall choose something elegant enough for the guild, and practical enough to govern it.
Seris answers with composed amusement, though the warmth in her expression betrays how completely the flirtation lands. She returns to inspecting each resident’s proposed colors while Vhaziel leaves her to it.
Vhaziel follows Elyra’s presence toward the central chamber, passing dark silks, silver guardians’ wraps, and violet household finery. The sanctum’s wards brighten as they approach.

Elyra Vey
You found me, Vhaziel. I have been reviewing the wardrobe’s choices and listening to the house. Its new customs are taking root cleanly.
Elyra stands beside the dry fountain with her ledger notes gathered close. Beyond her, the lesser demons sort garments by preference, while the pleasure-house settles into its first deliberate identity.
“I nod slightly. "Two sanctums found, with only the third left hidden to us."”
SUCCESS (Fair Reasoning, rolled -1)

Vhaziel
Two sanctums found, with only the third left hidden to us.
Vhaziel nods slightly beside the dry fountain. The household ledger, the mountain pact, and the eastern road align in their mind: two sanctums are known, while the third remains concealed.

Elyra Vey
Yes. The pleasure-house and Vaelith’s mountain refuge answer to you now. The final path still hides its destination and its keeper.
Violet script rises from the fountain, confirming three sanctuary marks. Two burn clearly; the third is veiled behind impressions of water, stone, and an unspoken longing.

Elyra Vey
I can preserve what we know, but identifying the third will require checking the old map against every desire already named. That will take time.
The cost settles into the ledger as a concrete delay: Elyra must spend the remaining evening cross-checking records, leaving the third sanctuary’s clue unresolved for now without diminishing the discovery.

Elyra Vey
Still, the count is certain. Two sanctums stand beneath your dominion, and the hidden one waits for the truth that can call it open.
“I nod slightly. "Well, I await what your sight offers to us.... " I say, looking her over. "... in the meantime. I am curious, the chains and bowl, that cannot be comfortable to you, do you actually require them?"”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled -3)

Vhaziel
Well, I await what your sight offers us. In the meantime, I am curious about the chains and bowl. Are they uncomfortable, or do you actually require them?
Vhaziel nods slightly and looks Elyra over beside the dry fountain. Violet script shimmers across the ledger, while the chains and bowl rest within the oracle’s working place.

Elyra Vey
The chains are not fastened to me, Vhaziel. They are remnants of the binding, kept as an anchor. The bowl is necessary when my sight must cross old wards or buried roads.

Elyra Vey
Neither causes me pain. But I have kept them visible because removing every sign of bondage too quickly would make me distrust the freedom I possess.
Elyra touches one dark link, then withdraws her hand. Her answer gives Vhaziel the truth, but the intimacy of the question leaves her guarding a newly exposed boundary.

Elyra Vey
I will show you what the sight offers tonight, and I will keep the anchor until the third path is understood. After that, if you ask again, I may let you decide what becomes of it.

Elyra Vey
They noticed the symbols of my captivity, and asked rather than ordered. That earns trust, but it also gives them a place where my trust can be tested.

“I nod slightly. "If that is what you desire, I will grant it." I say, turning to head back to my own room, pausing a moment. "If you feel it so important to show what anchors you, my mark upon you is an anchor to us here. One so beautiful should not be bound in chains, and there are plenty of fountains here, we can set up one for you to be able to use it for your sight. Just an offer. "I say, before adding. "With your dark skin, you would look stunning in a sheer white robe."”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled -2)

Vhaziel
If that is what you desire, I will grant it.
Vhaziel nods, accepts Elyra’s choice, and turns toward their private room. At the threshold, they pause and glance back toward the chains and bowl.

Vhaziel
If you feel it important to show what anchors you, my mark upon you is an anchor to us here. One so beautiful should not be bound in chains. We have fountains enough to establish one for your sight. It is only an offer. With your dark skin, you would look stunning in a sheer white robe.

Elyra Vey
The fountain would let me keep the function without preserving the image of captivity. I accept that offer, and I will try the robe.
Elyra lifts the bowl carefully, then sets it beside the nearest dormant fountain. The chains remain where they are, visible beside the ledger as a deliberate choice rather than a restraint.

Elyra Vey
But I will record this publicly, Vhaziel. If the house sees your mark as my anchor, everyone must also hear that I chose the change. Otherwise your kindness becomes another story told about me.
The cost of persuasion settles into the household’s trust: Elyra accepts the new anchor and garment, but requires her consent and authorship to be witnessed. Vhaziel then continues toward their room.
“I smile. "You are a beautiful, enigmatic dark elf, a seer and a voice for a Succubus holding dominion over multiple territories. Let them talk and be proud of the stories they tell. You and each of the Arch-Temptresses should aspire to hold legends of your own, you are my chosen and those closest to me. You each sought my power for a reason, don't let your ambitions simply end with languishing within these walls, otherwise, you'll be a prisoner of your own making."”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled +2)

Vhaziel
You are a beautiful, enigmatic dark elf, a seer and a voice for a Succubus holding dominion over several territories. Let them talk, and be proud of the stories they tell.

Vhaziel
You and each Arch-Temptress should pursue legends of your own. You are my chosen, those closest to me. Do not let ambition end in languishing within these walls, becoming prisoners of your own making.
Elyra stands beside the dormant fountain, one hand resting near the bowl. Vhaziel’s praise and challenge pass through the bond, reaching the place where captivity once defined her story.

Elyra Vey
They do not merely want my sight. They want the world to know I possess a name, a history, and a future I chose.

Elyra Vey
Then I will let them speak. I will preserve the stories, correct the lies, and make my own legend from what I survived and what I become.
The fountain awakens beneath Elyra’s hand. Clear water rises into the bowl, and pale reflections spread across the hall, carrying glimpses of roads, witnesses, and names yet to be earned.

Elyra Vey
I will not languish here, Vhaziel. I will serve this sanctum, but I will also seek the ambition that brought me to your power. Let my story travel beyond these walls.
“I smile and nod. "That's my girl... " I say reassuringly, before continuing on to my room for the night.”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled +2)

Vhaziel
That's my girl...
Vhaziel smiles and nods beside the awakened fountain, their reassurance settling through the bond without diminishing Elyra's chosen ambition. The clear water reflects her dark features and the roads awaiting her name.

Elyra Vey
Then go rest, Vhaziel. I will keep the fountain’s record clear, and by morning I will have the first shape of my legend.
Elyra returns to the bowl and begins arranging fresh pages beside it. The lesser demons lower their voices as Vhaziel crosses the reception hall, leaving the household to its quiet work.
Their private chamber opens at their approach. Moon-pale fabric hangs still above the bed, while violet wards fold gently around the doorway and seal the night from interruption.
Behind them, the pleasure-house settles into watchful silence: Seris governs the ledger, Elyra tends her fountain, and the mountain sanctum remains joined through Vaelith’s dark pact.
“Eventually I stir to wakefulness, unsure of the time, given the lack of natural light within the inner sanctum. Casually, I wander the halls eventually making my way towards the chamber Elyra has taken as her own.”

Eventually, Vhaziel stirs beneath the moon-pale canopy. No dawn reaches the inner sanctum, but the softened wards reveal that several quiet hours have passed.
She rises and wanders without urgency through the silent halls, passing sealed suites, dark silks, and lesser demons keeping respectful watch beneath violet lamps.
The pleasure-house feels changed by rest. Its rooms now possess names, rules, and purpose, while distant shadow confirms Vaelith’s mountain refuge remains joined to the pact.
At last, Vhaziel follows the clear murmur of water toward the chamber Elyra has claimed. The awakened fountain casts pale reflections across the threshold.

Elyra Vey
She comes before morning, though this house has no morning. Perhaps the sanctum itself told her where to find me.
Elyra sits beside the fountain with fresh pages arranged around the bowl. Her chains remain nearby as an anchor, while the new water carries faint images of roads and distant witnesses.

Elyra Vey
You are awake, Vhaziel. I have kept the record clear, and the third path has begun to show me its edges.
“I nod slightly. "You continue to serve me well." I say, caressing her cheek. "Tell me what you see."”
SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled +0)

Vhaziel nods slightly and crosses to the fountain. Her clawed hand rises to caress Elyra’s cheek, the gesture measured and possessive beneath the pale reflections.

Vhaziel
You continue to serve me well. Tell me what you see.

Elyra Vey
The water has shown me the third path. It leads beneath a drowned temple, where stone bells sleep under a black tide.
Elyra leans into the touch just enough to acknowledge it, then turns the bowl toward Vhaziel. Its surface darkens, revealing submerged arches and a single figure waiting below.

Elyra Vey
The keeper is not hidden by solitude like Vaelith. She is hidden by duty. She guards the remains of a sanctuary that the sea refused to bury.

Elyra Vey
Her desire is to hear one living voice answer the bells. If you enter, speak your name plainly, and ask what she protects before offering any bond.
The fountain’s reflection sharpens into a drowned stairway descending beneath green-black water. A pale bell hangs at its end, unmoving, while the third sanctuary mark awakens.
“"And me without swimwear." I joke, before nodding. "Let us open the path then."”
SUCCESS (Good Arcana, rolled -2)

Vhaziel
And me without swimwear. I joke, before nodding. Let us open the path then.
Vhaziel places her clawed hand above the bowl and draws the drowned stairway through the water. Violet magic threads downward, answering the silent bell beneath the black tide.

Elyra Vey
Then speak your name plainly when the temple receives you. Ask what its keeper protects before you offer anything more.
The fountain erupts into a standing arch of green-black water. Beyond it, submerged stone arches and the pale bell become a passable road, its depths held open by Vhaziel’s spell.
The cost arrives immediately. The fountain’s clear water turns dark and briny, and every violet ward in the pleasure-house dims as the spell draws power into the drowned passage.

Elyra Vey
The path is open. But your sanctum will remain dim until the magic returns through the bond or the road is closed.
The drowned temple waits beyond the threshold, bells silent beneath the tide. The open passage ripples before Vhaziel, carrying the scent of deep water and ancient stone.

SUCCESS (Superb Persuasion, rolled +0)

Vhaziel steps through the standing arch, and green-black water folds around her without resistance. She flicks the last droplets from her clawed toes as the passage seals behind her.

Vhaziel
I am to understand, the one who guards this place, seeks me. Are we a tad shy?
Her voice travels through drowned corridors and wakes pale mineral bells. The sanctum opens around her: submerged arches, shell-pale pillars, and a dry stone dais beneath the black tide.
A tall adult woman rises from behind the dais. Green-black hair floats around her face despite the dry air, and layered teal robes bear tarnished bell-shaped clasps.

Nerissa Veyl
Not shy. Careful. But you called plainly, and the temple has carried your voice to me.

Nerissa Veyl
I am the drowned keeper. I guard the names of those the sea took, and the last bell that still remembers their voices.
The pale bell behind her gives one quiet note. Its sound passes through Vhaziel without harm, and the keeper steps fully into view, accepting the encounter rather than hiding from it.
