The reception hall settles into its first hours as a stronghold. Four cultists inventory lantern oil, grain, and water while the lesser demons take watch positions beneath awakening violet wards; two cultists remain above the threshold with the supplies.

Seris Vale
Vhaziel, review the house rules with me. Passwords, guest protections, and the limits of my authority must be clear before the first outsider arrives.
Seris Vale unrolls a blank ledger beside the dry fountain. The cloaked emissary observes from the inner doors, while Elyra Vey quietly gestures for Vhaziel to follow her toward a shadowed alcove.

Elyra Vey
The sanctuary map concealed another road. I found its mark beneath the eastern route, but it has no fixed destination.

Elyra Vey
It can only be found through a desire that is personally meaningful to the one seeking it. The road will answer to truth, not rank or command.
Beyond the alcove, Seris Vale begins marking three columns in the ledger: entry words, protections promised, and powers no keeper may claim. The stronghold listens through stone.

Elyra Vey
If Vhaziel searches for that road, the sanctuary may reveal a place no map has ever held.

Learn why Elyra withheld the hidden road’s clue
“I smile and caress the line of Seris's chin. "Beyond what I have set from the beginning, the rules of the sanctum are yours to choose and enforce, you are its keeper. My only command is that none but those that bear my mark, those that bear my sisters' marks, or those bearing Mother's mark, my pass into the inner sanctum. The outer sanctum is for visitors, in here is our private home." I then turn my attention to Elyra "Interesting. That may be a clue to the next sanctum's Arch-Temptress. Find out what you can about the one that has desires connected to the next sanctum." I turn back to Seris. "And This place was hidden, but they are connected, look around to see if there is some sort of transit gate here."”
FAILURE (Good Perception, rolled -4)

Vhaziel
Beyond what I have set, the sanctum’s rules are yours to choose and enforce, Seris. You are its keeper.

Vhaziel
Only those bearing my mark, my sisters’ marks, or Mother’s mark may pass into the inner sanctum. Visitors belong in the outer sanctum. This is our private home.
Vhaziel smiles and caresses the line of Seris’s chin before turning toward Elyra. The violet wards brighten, listening to the boundary being declared.

Seris Vale
Then I will write the rules beneath your command, sovereign. The outer halls may welcome guests, but the inner home will remain guarded by blood, mark, and trust.

Vhaziel
Elyra, learn what you can about the person whose desires connect to the next sanctum. That may be a clue to its Arch-Temptress. Seris, search for a transit gate here.

Elyra Vey
I will follow the desire’s shape rather than a name. If the road knows its future keeper, truth may reveal them before rank does.
Seris searches the fountains, doors, and ward-lines with Vhaziel, but no transit gate emerges. Instead, the network’s faint paths fold inward and vanish, leaving only one sealed sigil that answers to an unspoken, personal desire.
“I tilt my head, studying the sigil for a time, before eventually moving through a sanctum, choosing the most elegant looking room for my own. Settling in, I pleasure myself absently as I wait for Elyra's visions to bring clarity to whom I should seek.”
SUCCESS (Good Perception, rolled +0)

Vhaziel tilts their head and studies the sealed sigil. Its violet lines contain no script, only layered impressions of invitation, privacy, and a desire recognized as authentic.

Vhaziel
The sigil answers to personal desire, not authority.
The hidden paths unfold at Vhaziel’s attention, revealing a private wing beyond the central chamber. Its most elegant room opens without resistance, lined with black stone, silver veils, and a moon-pale canopy.
Vhaziel settles into the chosen chamber and waits in secluded comfort, attending to private pleasure while the sanctum’s wards soften around them. The scene fades from intimate detail.

Elyra Vey
A desire is forming around someone who refuses every ordinary place. The road bends toward a keeper hidden by longing.
Time passes in violet quiet. From the adjoining hall, the sealed sigil pulses once, then projects a wavering image of a distant mountain refuge beneath a starless sky.

Elyra Vey
I have it. The next sanctuary belongs to one who wants to be found, but only by someone willing to enter the darkness without claiming them.
“I stretch, roused from my pleasure fueled nap, feeling Elyra's voice reach me through our connection. "Focus your voice upon her. Offer her the words of summoning, that I may go to her directly."”
SUCCESS (Good Arcana, rolled -1)

Vhaziel stretches beneath the moon-pale canopy, roused from secluded pleasure as Elyra’s voice reaches through the bond. The sealed sigil answers their awakening.

Vhaziel
Focus your voice upon her. Offer me the words of summoning, that I may go to her directly.
Their Arcana bends the connection into a narrow violet thread. It carries Vhaziel’s command across the sanctuary, but the casting leaves their pendant cold and briefly darkens every ward.

Elyra Vey
Then hear them clearly: enter the darkness without claiming its keeper. Seek the one who wants to be found, and speak your name as invitation, not command.
The words crystallize inside Vhaziel’s mind. The projected mountain refuge unfolds into a standing doorway, starless stone beyond it and a distant presence waiting in silence.

Elyra Vey
The road accepts you, Vhaziel. I will hold this end while you cross, though the sanctum’s wards will remain dim until your return.
The direct passage stands open before Vhaziel. Its threshold recognizes the summoning words, while the pleasure-house’s protective glow fades to a vulnerable violet ember behind them.
“"You should know by now, my voice, an invitation by me that is taken is a claim. That is how demon pacts work." I say, crossing through.”
SUCCESS (Good Arcana, rolled +3)

Vhaziel
You should know by now, my voice, an invitation by me that is taken is a claim. That is how demon pacts work.
Vhaziel crosses the standing doorway. Violet fire folds around their ash-white form, carrying the declaration into the starless mountain refuge without resistance.
The passage closes behind them, leaving no gap to the pleasure-house. Black stone rises on every side, carved into a silent refuge beneath a sky without stars.

Vaelith Sorn
Then your invitation has been heard, demon. I did not mistake your welcome for harmless courtesy.
A figure stands beyond a curtain of darkness: an adult woman of indistinct shape, wrapped in layered black cloth, her face veiled except for two pale eyes.

Vaelith Sorn
You entered without claiming my name, my shelter, or my will. That is why the road allowed you to arrive.

Vhaziel
The mountain refuge is real, and the road has closed behind me.
