The Lord's Betrayal Revealed

At the central console, the decrypted archive finishes bleeding open. The Lord’s polished mask is gone now, replaced by raw transaction data and council signatures burned into the audit chain.

The Relay Tech

The Relay Tech

No... those are council keys. Real ones. He used them to bless the coup.

The screen scrolls on, ugly and precise. The Lord never just watched the fleet. He authorized the false alerts, the purge routes, the handoff logs. He framed the council with their own digital mouths.

Tressa

Tressa

The leak was the lock. He needed their signatures to open it.

The Relay Tech

The Relay Tech

Tressa, look at the relay stamp. He built the whole investigation from inside the crime.

On the archive, the final proof flashes bright, then cold. The Lord’s “investigation” is the coup itself, and the pirate fleet was only ever the bait.

Kill the Lord

I guess he wanted me under his thumb if the coup failed which did or the other pirate Lords to be under his thumb if the coup succeeded well unfortunately for him it failed and now he will burn for it

SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled +2)

The Lord's Betrayal Revealed

The archive keeps scrolling, and Tressa lets it. The room goes quieter around the console, the only sound the soft rasp of cooling fans and the distant clink of supply crates being sorted.

Tressa

Tressa

He was betting on both outcomes.

The Relay Tech

The Relay Tech

If the coup held, he owned the chain. If it failed, he still owned the blame.

Tressa straightens from the screen, and the reflected data strips her face into hard lines. The audit trail keeps pulsing, now less like evidence and more like a weapon handed over clean.

The Relay Tech

The Relay Tech

That kind of man does not leave loose ends. Not people. Not crews. Not witnesses.

A beat of silence lands in the command chamber. Somewhere in the base, a shutter rattles once, then settles. The smell of explosives still hangs faintly in the air from the old council chamber, like the past refusing to cool.

The Relay Tech

The Relay Tech

So... if he comes back, the rest of the Lords will want to know who stands with you.

The route slate from Pirate Lord 12 sits open beside the console, untouched. Tressa has the proof, and with it the shape of who turns on the Lord, and who waits to see which way the blade falls.

*I send people to inform the other pirate Lords who are currently out raiding I prepare my crew my flagship and are two fastest scout ships and begin creating a plan to find where the Lord is living where he will be moving and vulnerable and where to cut him down*

SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled +1)

The Lord's Betrayal Revealed

Tressa cuts the archive feed and turns the console into a war room. The route slate slides under her palm, and the hideout’s stale light catches on her wings as she starts assigning the fastest runners.

Tressa

Tressa

Send word to the other Lords raiding out there. Rally them to my banner, now.

The Relay Tech snaps their attention from the verified rewrite path and starts relaying. Across the chamber, crew move at a run, hauling maps, fuel canisters, and charge packs toward the ships.

The Relay Tech

The Relay Tech

Copy. I am pushing the alert through the secure lanes, with the proof attached.

Tressa leans over the console and drags the archive logs into a fresh tactical spread. Ship tags, dock windows, and movement bursts bloom across the screen, then tighten into likely routes.

Tressa

Tressa

He needs shelter, fuel, and a predictable next move.

She marks the Lord’s known safehouses, transit arteries, and public contacts, then strips them down to the places a strike team can reach first. Two scout ships get their orders on the spot, light and fast, ready to range ahead.

The Relay Tech

The Relay Tech

The fleet setup is holding, and the others are answering. One more thing, Tressa, the rewritten path points to a moving handoff, not a fixed lair.

The room goes tight around that detail. On the console, the Lord’s trail resolves into a shifting window of vulnerability, and the route slate beside it waits for Tressa’s next command.

Expose the Victorian Lord

Well that's all well and good except we don't know where he is and where he's going to be

SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled -2)

The Lord's Betrayal Revealed
Tressa

Tressa

We do not know where he is. We do know where he has to be, next.

Tressa drags two fingers through the tactical spread, pinching the moving handoff window open. The route slate flashes as her search narrows from safehouses to timing, transit load, and pressure points.

A clean line snaps onto the map. The Lord is not sitting in one fortress, he is moving through a courier lane between brokers, under cover of a public transfer.

The Relay Tech

The Relay Tech

There, that window is his. If we hit it, we catch the handoff before it disappears.

The console spits a warning bloom, the verified rewrite path flaring red as the scan overdraws the archive buffers. A thin trickle of smoke curls from the monitor bank.

Tressa

Tressa

The route is a moving choke point, not a lair.

The map settles on a corridor of air and money, tagged with a departure slot and a courier badge. Tressa has the target's trajectory now, but the overtaxed console is starting to stutter.

*I have the relay tag work on stabling the console while I move the two scouts forward at speed to help further direct the silver winged revenge once we're in position I wait for the handoff to end and then begin tailing the Lord's ship with my scouts taking a different route with my flagship surrounding and cutting him off opening up with a broadside of heavy Cannon*

SUCCESS (Superb Piloting, rolled +2)

The Lord's Betrayal Revealed

The console stabilizes under the relay tag's patch, the smoke thinning to a bitter thread. Tressa snaps the scouts onto the moving lane, and the route slate blooms with fresh vectors as the handoff window begins to narrow.

The Silver Winged Revenge answers her timing, easing out of the hideout's cover with its nose already squared for the intercept. Two scout ships peel away on a split approach, low and fast, feeding her the Lord's drift as the lane shifts beneath him.

The target appears at the edge of the courier corridor, all traffic discipline and false paperwork, until Tressa folds the trap shut. Her flagship slides across his bow while the scouts cut behind, sealing the corridor from both ends.

Broadside guns hammer first. The opening volley punches through the Lord's escort screen, scattering debris and cutting his clean exit into flashing fragments.

The Relay Tech jerks back from the warm housing, eyes locked on the live feed. 'He's pinned,' they say, voice tight. 'And the rewrite path is still lit through his route badge.'

On the scope, the Lord's ship shudders inside the kill box, unable to slip the net. The corridor behind him closes under Tressa's formation, and the remaining pirate captains on the channel go silent, waiting to see who breaks first.

*the Lord's escort falls from the sky burning my secondary guns opening up on his primary guns hoping to silence them before they do damage and before he can turn to his broad side while I have my scouts harass his ship with their small guns firing it is boats engines*

SUCCESS (Good Firearms, rolled +3)

The Lord's Betrayal Revealed

Tressa shifts fire. Her secondary guns rake the Lord's primary battery, and the lead mounts blossom into sparks and torn armor. The first volley strips their targeting housing clean.

Her scouts snap in low behind the escort screen, stitching the engines with smart bursts. One drive flares white, then coughs smoke and spins the ship off-line.

The Lord's broadside never comes around. His hull lurches, pinned between dead guns and failing thrust, while debris sleets past the feed like black rain.

The Relay Tech

The Relay Tech

Primary guns are gone. His turntable is jammed, and that badge trace just opened.

The verified rewrite path blooms larger on the console, now tied to a matching authority stamp. The stolen route badge is no longer just a trail, it is proof of who has been feeding him access.

Morrow Nine

Morrow Nine

...He had council clearance.

Across the channel, one captain breaks first, cursing into open static. The others start talking over each other, no longer watching Tressa's guns, but the cracked authority signature burning on the slate.

Skill Upgrade: Piloting SuperbLegendary

*we open up one more time with one good broadside blasting open the entire front of his ship and his bridge killing his entire bridge crew leaving him exposed as I fly from the deck of my flagship over to his to kill the Victorian Lord*

SUCCESS (Legendary Piloting, rolled +1)

The Lord's Betrayal Revealed

Tressa commits to the opening. Her flagship surges out of the smoke gap, guns braced on a clean firing line as the Lord's shattered bow fills the sight picture.

One broadside lands like a hammer. The entire front of his ship caves inward, bridge glass blows out in a glittering sheet, and the command deck flashes raw white through the rupture.

Heat rolls back across the channel. The first row of shapes on the bridge drops out of view in the blast, and the damage feed scrolls red across the console.

Tressa kicks clear of her rail and launches the leap across the gap, wings snapping hard for balance as wreckage spins between the two hulls.

She hits the Lord's deck in a crouch amid bent metal and drifting smoke, directly in the wrecked mouth of his command bridge.

The Lord

The Lord

You would burn your own position for this.

Around him, his bridge crew lies scattered or hidden under console fragments, and the exposed command space keeps sparking under the breach.

My own position we destroyed your calls even if didn't no one's close enough to help you because of this illegal deal your escorts are falling from the sky and your flagship is crippled and about to die and so are you and your deception *I draw my Cutlass*

SUCCESS (Great Melee Combat, rolled -1)

The Lord's Betrayal Revealed

Tressa sets her stance on the shattered deck and draws her cutlass in one smooth, brutal line. The blade clears with a bright hiss, and the smoke around her catches in the edge light.

The Lord

The Lord

You still think this is a victory.

The Lord shifts back against the ruined console, one shoulder clipping sparking debris. Blood beads at his collar, and his eyes flick once to the open breach, where his escorts are tumbling away in fragments of fire and static.

Tressa

Tressa

My position is clear. Your escorts are gone, your ship is dying, and your cover is finished.

As Tressa levels the cutlass, a shard of paneling drops between them and shatters on the deck. The impact kicks up smoke and a burst of hot circuitry, forcing both of them to hold through the spray.

The Lord

The Lord

Then come closer, Admiral. Let the whole bridge see what your proof is worth.

The ruined bridge answers with a deeper groan. A dangling support arm tears free overhead, and the command lights stutter once, bathing The Lord's face in emergency red before dipping back to black.

Tressa keeps the blade up. The cut is clean, but the motion leaves a thin line of blood on her glove where a torn edge catches her hand, and the bridge opens on a fresh crack of falling glass behind The Lord.

*I sheath my blade calmly then laugh* "have you forgotten. I'm part dragon! *I turned to walk away once I'm at the exit I turned around and light him up on fire laughing as he screams before I fly away*

SUCCESS (Good Willpower, rolled +0)

The Lord's Betrayal Revealed

Tressa slides the cutlass back into its sheath with a soft, final click. Her laughter cuts through the bridge smoke, low and sharp, as she turns away from The Lord and heads for the torn exit seam.

The Lord

The Lord

You think leaving makes you safe?

At the breach, Tressa stops, half-turned against the flicker of dying lights. The loose support arm groans overhead. Green reflections from the trader ships' prep status still pulse across the wrecked glass.

Then she turns back and breathes emerald wildfire into the bridge. The flame catches The Lord full in the chest, running over his console and armor in a hard, green wash.

The Lord

The Lord

No, wait, I can still--

His scream tears out of the smoke as the fire climbs. The verified rewrite path on the ruined display flares once, then the screen dies under the heat.

Tressa laughs again, wings snapping open in the heat draft. She launches through the broken frame and out into the open air, leaving the bridge burning behind her.
