Maelis lifts the black-waxed manifesto toward her pale spell-light. Beneath the chamber floor, an ash seal cracks, and a hidden niche exhales soot and cold air.
A soot-streaked adult elf woman, with ash-pale skin and a sharp, wary face, emerges sideways from the cramped opening, lean beneath a torn gray coat, her cropped dark hair dusted white. She lowers a hand crossbow, though one finger remains near the trigger.

Ilyra Fen
Do not trust that page. Taren hid me here after I discovered who forged the network’s orders. My name is Ilyra Fen, and the manifesto is only a decoy.
Maelis freezes with the document raised. The ash seal crumbles into gray flakes around Ilyra’s boots, revealing a second passage behind the niche, narrow enough for one person at a time.

Caelen Thornmere
Keep the crossbow lowered. Sava decides whether you speak freely, but any sudden move ends this meeting badly.

Ilyra Fen
Then ask about the orders, not the corpse. Taren knew the truth, but someone else wrote the names, carried the seals, and sent the hunters west.
The chamber tightens around the dead rider, the decoy manifesto, and the newly opened passage. Ilyra’s lowered weapon remains ready as every gaze turns toward Sava.

Determine whether Ilyra Fen is telling the truth
“I eyed Ilyra " fine we can talk" I put down my bow as we pull up a chair and start talking with Ilyra. "Tell me Ilyra.. what happened here and why you believe this is false especially when it comes to my father..Sav Nightshade?" I stare at her as Caelen stand guard while Maelis stand by my side as we discuss about the late Taren Voss and his manifesto”
SUCCESS (Good Persuasion, rolled -2)

Sava Nightshade
Fine. We can talk. Tell me, Ilyra, what happened here, and why do you believe this manifesto is false, especially where my father, Sav Nightshade, is concerned?
Sava lowers her bow and sets it beside the wall. Caelen pulls a battered chair into the chamber while Maelis stands at Sava’s shoulder, keeping her spell-light trained on Ilyra.

Ilyra Fen
I can speak, but I want your word that my account will be carried to Elder Wood before anyone decides I am another accomplice. That is the price of my cooperation.
Ilyra folds the hand crossbow and sets it on the stones, though she keeps it within reach. Her wary gaze moves from Sava to the dead Taren Voss, then back again.

Ilyra Fen
Taren hid me after I found the split-flame ledgers. Sav Nightshade had already joined that circle, but the orders bearing his name were written by another hand.

Ilyra Fen
The manifesto was planted to make Taren look like the sole architect. He confessed to abandoning you, Sava, and to serving Sav, but he did not author the western orders or command the hunters.
Caelen remains at the passage while Maelis lowers her light to the manifesto. Ilyra’s testimony gives Sava the distinction she sought, but her demand for public protection now binds Sava’s standing to the truth.
✓ Quest Accepted
Expose who forged the western orders
“I stare at Ilyra and back to Caelen & Maelis "Fine, Ilyra you have my word for your request of protection, I need two requests for it, one you be returning with us to Elder Wood and personally tell the same thing to the King and Queen. Two you'll be put through truth binding spell to be sure you're telling us the truth." We escorted Ilyra and the corpse of Taren Voss back to Elder Wood. I kneel down to the King and Queen as me, Caelen and Maelis explain what happened at the Watch Tower as we handed over the manifesto but informed them it might be faked hence why we Ilyra before them and requested Ilyra to be put through the truth binding spell to hear her side and as well potential protection”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled -1)

Sava Nightshade
Ilyra, you have my word of protection. In return, come with us to Elder Wood and tell the King and Queen this yourself. Then submit to truth-binding, so they can judge your account fairly.

Ilyra Fen
Accepted. I will face the crown, the binding, and every question. If the spell confirms what I have said, Elder Wood must protect me from the people who forged those orders.
With Ilyra’s crossbow secured, Caelen leads the return through the border road while Maelis guards the manifesto. Taren Voss’s corpse travels wrapped and identified, preserved as evidence rather than rumor.
At Elder Wood’s living court, Sava kneels before the King and Queen. Caelen and Maelis stand behind her as the manifesto, its possible forgery, and Ilyra’s testimony are placed before the throne.

The King of Elder Wood
Rise, Sava. The document will be preserved as disputed evidence. Ilyra Fen will receive protection while the court tests her account, and truth-binding will be witnessed openly.

The Queen of Elder Wood
Ilyra, you will speak before this court without concealment. If your testimony proves true, the crown will shelter you and pursue whoever forged the western orders.
Royal attendants prepare the binding circle in the roots before the throne. Ilyra steps into its pale light, steadying herself as the King orders every witness to remain present for the questioning.
“Under the truth binding spell Ilyra tell what she knew from the false truth in the manifesto, Taren Voss death, and the whereabouts of Sav Nightshade and his connection to Split-Flame and the Necromancy group he sided with. After her testimony, I turned to the King and Queen ask permission to kill my own father for his betrayal not just for me but for everyone in clan and Elder Wood.”
SUCCESS (Good Persuasion, rolled +0)

The truth-binding closes around Ilyra Fen’s temples. Pale light draws her testimony into the court, while the King, Queen, Caelen, Maelis, and Sava remain within the witnessing circle.

Ilyra Fen
The manifesto’s confession was false where it named Taren the western commander. Taren Voss did abandon Sava and serve Sav Nightshade, but another hand forged the orders and used his guilt as a shield.

Ilyra Fen
Taren died here after hiding me and the ledgers. Sav fled west toward the old border road, then joined the Split-Flame necromancers. He helped them move names, bodies, and false commands through hidden refuges.
The binding dims after Ilyra names the route and the alliance. The court hears the betrayal plainly: Sav remains alive, tied to the necromantic circle, and protected by distance rather than innocence.

Sava Nightshade
My King, my Queen, I ask permission to kill my father, Sav Nightshade, for his betrayal of me, my clan, and everyone in Elder Wood.

The King of Elder Wood
Permission is granted. Sav Nightshade is declared an enemy of Elder Wood, and you may deliver the sentence if you find him. But you will do so under royal witness, and your testimony will become a public charge against the Nightshade name.

The Queen of Elder Wood
This grants your vengeance, Sava, but it also binds your pursuit to the crown. Bring us proof of Sav’s death and the Split-Flame’s crimes, or the court will question whether justice became private revenge.

Aren't concerned for your safety?" Maelis stare at me "it's for OUR family honor and also for me redeem myself for hurting you". Maelis look away "I'm hoping..after this with your father...I'm curious if you return to the clan Sava." I took deep breath "I'll think about it Maelis". Caelen enter after I talk to Maelis "I'll be joining with you as well"”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled -1)

Sava returns to the Nightshade manor and gathers her allies, recounting the watchtower’s hidden chamber and Ilyra’s testimony as revealed through the crystal. The court’s judgment now gives her authority to hunt Sav.

Maelis Nightshade
Please, Lady Sava, take me with you to hunt your father. He caused the Nightshade clan’s fall. This is for our family’s honor, and for me to redeem myself for hurting you.

Maelis Nightshade
What about your parents? Aren’t you concerned for my safety? I want to help, and afterward... I hope you might return to the clan, Sava.

Sava Nightshade
I’ll think about it, Maelis.
Maelis looks away, accepting the answer but leaving the request between them. Her plea has become a debt of trust: if Sava agrees, Maelis’s family and safety will rest under Sava’s judgment.

Caelen Thornmere
I’ll be joining you as well. The crown assigned me to protect this investigation, and I will see the hunt through under royal witness.
Caelen enters fully and sets his travel sword beside the door. The manor now holds a clear pursuit party, but its success will require Sava to carry Maelis’s request, Caelen’s duty, and the crown’s scrutiny together.

I turned to Maelis "you can come Maelis but if things gets out of hand stay close to me or Caelen". Me, Maelis and Caelen start our search for Sav Nightshade”
SUCCESS (Legendary Survival, rolled +2)

the High Chancellor
It has been eleven years since you last saw your father, and he has remained with the Split-Flame necromancers. Stay careful. If they hold information, bring it back. I may regain my network through what they have learned.

Sava Nightshade
You can come, Maelis, but if things get out of hand, stay close to me or Caelen.
Sava, Maelis, and Caelen leave the Nightshade manor beneath a gray morning sky. Caelen carries the royal papers, Maelis keeps the copied testimony close, and Sava leads them toward the western road.

Caelen Thornmere
The road divides beyond the alder rise. Which trail carries the freshest sign of Sav?
Sava studies bent grass, broken spiderwebs, and shallow heel marks along the wet verge. Her survival sense separates old patrol traffic from a recent westbound passage bearing horse, ash, and elven bootprints.

Maelis Nightshade
That mark is the Nightshade crescent. He came this way recently, and the trail turns toward the abandoned ash watchtower.
Sava leads Maelis and Caelen along the concealed track. By dusk, the abandoned ash watchtower rises through the trees ahead, its dark doorway and weathered crescent confirming Sav’s refuge lies before them.

“We traveled through forest as we used the information that Ilyra had provided to us, as we fellow Sav last know location. Maelis ask me if I'm going through with this on my father "maybe we can take him alive to the king and queen for proper trial?" I turned around facing Maelis "I wish I could but that boat had already had sail.. between me and him" I stare at Caelen "Caelen if I see my father I want to use my werewolf abilities against him, make sure you keep Maelis when that time comes"”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +0)

The forest path narrows beneath dripping firs as Sava leads Maelis and Caelen west. Fresh hoofprints cut through the moss toward the abandoned ash watchtower.

Maelis Nightshade
Are you truly going through with this? Maybe we can take him alive and bring him before the King and Queen for a proper trial.
Sava turns on the trail, facing Maelis fully. Behind her, the old watchtower rises between black branches, its upper windows empty and its crescent worn pale by rain.

Sava Nightshade
I wish I could, but that boat has already sailed between me and him.

Sava Nightshade
Caelen, if I see my father, I want to use my werewolf abilities against him. Make sure you keep Maelis safe when that time comes.

Caelen Thornmere
Understood. Maelis stays behind me, and I will not let your confrontation draw her into it. If Sav appears, you will have the space you asked for.
Maelis swallows and grips the copied testimony beneath her cloak. Caelen shifts toward her flank as Sava approaches the tower door, the sealed scar at her nape cold beneath her collar.
“I walked up to the door to the tower as I crouch to used my stealth to enter as I quietly informed Maelis and Caelen to "stay here until I know it's safe to enter and fellow me". Maelis and Caelen enter a small hidden alcove outside as sneak through the tower with my bow drawn cautious my surroundings until I heard a familiar voice above me "is this how you treat your dear old dad, by entering his home unannounced?" Sava Nightshade
Stay here until I know it is safe to enter. Follow me when I call.
Maelis and Caelen slip into a small alcove beside the tower entrance. Sava crouches, eases through the door, and crosses the dusty lower chamber with her bow drawn.
She moves without a scrape, passing beneath the stair and around collapsed crates. Rain-muted light barely reaches the stones, but her senses catch the tower’s stale air and hidden upper landing.

Sav Nightshade
Is this how you treat your dear old dad, by entering his home unannounced?
Sava rises from her crouch and lowers her bow, though her shoulders remain taut. Above, Sav stands along the gallery rail, watching her with a guarded, knowing smile.

Sava Nightshade
I would say the same for your abandonment and the werewolf curse that your late friend Taren Voss left me, Father.

Sav Nightshade
So the child survived, learned to draw a bow, and came back carrying the crown’s judgment. Tell me, Sava, did Maelis and the captain come to witness my sentence?
“I stare at my father with contempt *They knew father but right now I'm your foe* as I draw my bow in quick secession at my father. "What a disappointment of a daughter..Sava" he teleported away and counter by casting his lighting spell which cause me thrown against a wall as well summoned a couple of zombies to protect himself. I got up quickly dodging the zombies attack as I fired my arrows at their heads as well at my father's arm. I yelled at him "you're not getting away Father!!!" Sav taunted at me "unfortunately for you sweetie, I'm a very busy man.." Caelen punched my father in the face. Sav in a shock noticed Caelen and Maelis in his way. Sav laughs manically "YOU CAN'T STOP WHAT IS COM..." I knee his face knocking him out "oh shut the fuck up!" Caelen tied Sav hands and feet as well put a anti magic seal to prevent him from escaping. Maelis look at me "feeling ok Lady Sava?" I told her "I'm fine..I just need to be left alone for a moment" we start heading back to Elder Wood”
SUCCESS (Legendary Ranged Combat, rolled -1)

Sava Nightshade
They knew my father. Right now, I am his foe.
Sava draws and looses in quick succession. Sav vanishes in a crackle of lightning, but her arrows cut through the gallery, striking his arm and the two shambling guardians as they rise.
The zombies lunge. Sava slips past their grasp and sends arrows into their skulls, dropping both before they can reach her. Sav staggers toward the upper passage.

Sava Nightshade
You're not getting away, Father!

Sav Nightshade
Unfortunately for you, sweetie, I'm a very busy man.
Caelen bursts from the alcove and punches Sav across the face. Sav reels in shock as Caelen and Maelis block his escape. His laugh breaks into a furious, unfinished shout.
Sava drives her knee into Sav’s face, knocking him unconscious. Caelen binds his hands and feet, then presses an antimagical seal over his wrists. Maelis studies Sava with open concern.

Maelis Nightshade
Are you feeling all right, Lady Sava?

Sava Nightshade
I'm fine. I just need to be left alone for a moment.
With Sav secured for royal justice, the three begin the journey back toward Elder Wood. Sava walks ahead in silence while Caelen guards the prisoner and Maelis keeps pace nearby.
“As we escorted my father back to the Elder Wood, we were attacked by his allies as they summoned zombies to distract us while they took Sav away. I yelled "fuck they are getting away" as I fired a few arrows at Sav and his allies but got away by using a teleport portal. I try to get in the portal but close in front of me, I screamed "fuck!!" I punched a near by tree as Caelen informed me "we need to inform the king and queen at once"”
SUCCESS (Mediocre Strength, rolled +1)

The teleport portal snaps shut between Sava and the fleeing attackers. Sav Nightshade and his allies vanish beyond it, leaving the road choked with settling dust and shambling undead.

Sava Nightshade
Fuck!!
Sava drives her fist into the nearby tree. Bark bursts beneath the impact, but the force jars her wrist and opens a shallow scrape across her knuckles.
The summoned zombies stagger through the abandoned road as the last echoes of the attack fade. Caelen keeps his blade raised, scanning the trees for another portal or pursuing ally.

Caelen Thornmere
We need to inform the King and Queen at once.
Caelen steps beside Sava, guarding her injured hand while Maelis emerges from cover. The road is clear enough to turn back, but Sav’s escape has transformed the escort into an urgent royal warning.
“After wiping out the remaining zombies, we ran back to Elder Wood to inform the King and everyone else what happened with Sav. I kneel down to the king and queen "I'm sorry to inform you my Majesties that Sav Nightshade had escaped from my custody on the way here by his allies in a surprise attack." I bite my lower lip in embarrassment anger as I took the full blame for the failure. Maelis steps up handing over some records from Sav's hideout to the King and Queen as the High Chancellor "here are the records and plans from Sav's office in the tower"”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +0)

By dusk, Sava, Maelis, and Caelen reach Elder Wood’s living court. Dust clings to their travel clothes, and royal guards close the gates behind them as the report spreads.

Sava Nightshade
I’m sorry to inform you, my Majesties, that Sav Nightshade escaped my custody on the way here when his allies launched a surprise attack.
Sava kneels and bites her lower lip, anger and embarrassment held tightly behind her lowered gaze. Caelen remains upright nearby, sword sheathed but ready.

Maelis Nightshade
The escape was caused by a coordinated ambush, not Sava’s neglect. I recovered these records from Sav’s office before we fled the tower.

the High Chancellor
Here are the records and plans from Sav’s office in the tower. They may identify his allies, his next refuge, and the route used by the portal.
Maelis places the copied records before the throne. Among the plans, a marked western route ends at a forgotten stone circle, with Sav’s crescent beside a notation naming three accomplices.

The King of Elder Wood
Rise, Sava. You reported the failure without concealment, and these records give us a trail. The crown will pursue Sav and expose every accomplice named here.

“I raised at the King's command but the Queen noticed my injury to my hand after I punched a tree out frustration after the failed escort of my father "Sava, come here my dear let heal your hand." I walked towards her as place my right hand on to the Queen's palm as she gently used her healing magic. I watched with amazement "Thank you so much my Queen" I bow my head in thanks "your welcome my dear" she noticed my disappointment of my failure "Come Sava let's have a chat in the garden with tea" I tried to decline but insisted with a grandmother like smile "I insist Sava no doubt you need an ear to lean to"”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)

At the King’s command, Sava rises. The Queen notices the scrape across her right hand and extends her palm, concern softening her regal expression.

The Queen of Elder Wood
Sava, come here, my dear. Let me heal your hand.
Sava walks to the Queen and places her right hand in that open palm. Gentle green magic flows over the scraped knuckles, closing the shallow wound without leaving a mark.

The Queen of Elder Wood
You’re welcome, my dear. Come with me to the garden. We shall have tea and talk.

Sava Nightshade
Thank you so much, my Queen. I would rather not trouble you, but perhaps another time.

The Queen of Elder Wood
I insist, Sava. No doubt you need an ear to lean to.
With a grandmother-like smile, the Queen guides Sava through the living court into a sheltered garden. A servant sets out steaming tea, and the Queen takes the seat beside her.
“The Queen spoke in elvish in a calm manner as she sips her tea "Don't blame yourself for what happened with Sav, Sava. As we speak the King, the High Chancellor, and the Valeharts are validating the records in the study right." The Queen also informed me with a smile as she handed me a sealed document "this is for you my dear" I opened the sealed document and realized it is citizenship documents for Elder Wood, I stare back at the Queen as she smile "I talked to the King and he removed your name from the dead and reinstated your citizenship." The Queen stood up and kneeling before as deeply apologized to me "me and the king as well the whole kingdom of Elder Wood apologize for our neglected you when you and your father never returned. I understand if you don't want to return permanently but you are always welcome to stay and visit." I was left speechless but kneel before the Queen as I pledge in elvish "I Sava Nightshade pledge my life and my pack to the Kingdom of Elder Wood"”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +1)

The Queen of Elder Wood
Do not blame yourself for what happened with Sav, Sava. The King, the High Chancellor, and the Valeharts are validating the records in the study now.
The Queen sips her tea, then places a sealed document into Sava’s hands. When Sava opens it, Elder Wood’s citizenship papers gleam beneath the royal seal.

The Queen of Elder Wood
I spoke with the King. He removed your name from the dead and restored your citizenship. You are welcome here, whether you return permanently or only visit.
The Queen rises, then kneels before Sava with solemn grace. Her apology carries no ceremony now, only the weight of a kingdom admitting it abandoned one of its own.

The Queen of Elder Wood
The King, I, and all Elder Wood apologize for neglecting you when you and your father never returned. I understand if you cannot come home, but our doors remain open.

Sava Nightshade
I, Sava Nightshade, pledge my life and my pack to the Kingdom of Elder Wood.
Sava kneels before the Queen and lowers her head. The sealed citizenship papers rest between them as her pledge settles into the living roots and the listening garden.

I courtesy to the Queen "Thank you your elegancy and I'll be there tonight" I walked back to the Nightshade clan house as Maelis just entered the house as she called out to me "is it true that we're invited to dinner with the King and Queen tonight?!" I nodded to her excitement, Maelis pulled me as she spoke "than let's bathe at our outdoor hot springs" we headed to the hot spring as we remove our clothes and enter the spring, as we relax and enjoy the bath. Maelis got as she washed my sliverly white with a fragrance herb infused shampoo.”
FAILURE (Mediocre Strength, rolled -1)

Sava helps the Queen rise, but her recovering strength falters halfway. The Queen steadies herself against the garden chair, leaving Sava braced and breathing hard rather than fully supporting her.

The Queen of Elder Wood
Get some rest, my dear. I understand you want answers, but it will take time to validate the records. You, Caelen, Maelis, Ilyra, your clan, and your allies are welcome at dinner tonight.

Sava Nightshade
Thank you, Your Majesty. I will be there tonight.
Sava returns to the Nightshade house at a careful pace. Maelis has just entered when she turns, bright-eyed, and calls across the entryway.

Maelis Nightshade
Is it true? We are invited to dinner with the King and Queen tonight? Then come on, Sava. The outdoor springs first.
Maelis guides Sava to the clan’s outdoor hot spring. They leave their travel clothes beside the stones and settle into the warm water, steam drifting through the evening air.
Maelis washes Sava’s silvery white hair with fragrant herb shampoo, working carefully through the strands. The failed exertion leaves Sava tired, but the spring gives her a quiet, usable rest before dinner.
“As Maelis washed my sliverly white hair and noticed my werewolf scar under the anti-werewolf seal up close and remembered the horrific scene of my attack from the memory as she gently touched it. I felt her touched my scar as I comfort her by telling her "don't worry even without the seal, I can personally control it at will without worrying about the full moon triggering it." Maelis spoke out "but everyone in Elder Wood knows that you are a werewolf!" as she sat in the hot spring as our naked bodies relaxed in the water. I was about to speak until I felt someone was peeping on us, I shout out "COME ON OUT PERVERT!" I grabbed a small stone and chuck it in the direction of the mysterious peeping tom”
SUCCESS (Legendary Ranged Combat, rolled +1)

Steam curls around the outdoor spring as Maelis Nightshade washes Sava’s silvery white hair. Her fingers pause at the silver seal covering the werewolf scar.
Memory passes across Maelis’s face: the child, the attack, and the terror shown by the royal crystal. She touches the scar gently, careful not to disturb the seal.

Sava Nightshade
Don’t worry. Even without the seal, I can personally control it at will without worrying about the full moon triggering it.

Maelis Nightshade
But everyone in Elder Wood knows that you are a werewolf!
Maelis sits back in the warm water, still watching Sava’s sealed nape. Then Keen Senses catch a breath and a faint shift beyond the spring’s stone rim.

Sava Nightshade
COME ON OUT, PERVERT!
Predator’s Instinct fixes the hidden watcher’s position. Sava snatches an ordinary loose stone from beside the spring and throws it; the stone strikes the crouching observer’s shoulder and knocks him into view behind the reeds.
“The stone struck the peeping intruder as I covered my wet nude body with my towel and pinned the intruder as Maelis called out for the guards and Caelen as she covered herself with a towel. Caelen and guards entered took the intruder to the interrogation room as Caelen checked on me and Maelis "You girls ok?" Maelis ran up to him as she was terrified of the ordeal, Caelen blushes hard realize Maelis was still in her towel as he turned his face away telling her about her state of dress "Milady Maelis you're still undressed" Maelis realized as she blushes with embarrassment and ran off to the dressing room. Caelen sigh with relief but noticed me staring at him as I was in my bath towel but professionally informed me that the peeping intruder is in custody and he would investigate the matter "he was a known stalker" he stepped forward and informed me "he's especially stalking towards Lady Maelis, likely you were there." Maelis wearing a bathing robe gently kiss Caelen cheek "thank you"”
SUCCESS (Mediocre Strength, rolled +0)

Sava snatches up her towel and wraps it around herself, then drives the exposed watcher onto the wet stones. Her shoulder scrapes hard against the rim, but she pins his wrists before he can crawl away.

Maelis Nightshade
Guards! Caelen! Come quickly!
Predator’s Instinct fixes every twitch beneath Sava’s grip, showing her exactly when the intruder might lunge. She shifts with that warning and keeps him facedown until Caelen and the guards rush in.
Caelen takes custody with the guards and escorts the intruder toward the interrogation room. He pauses beside the spring, his expression professional as he checks Sava and Maelis.

Caelen Thornmere
Are you girls all right? He is a known stalker, especially toward Lady Maelis. I will investigate how he reached the spring, but you were likely his target as well.
Maelis hurries to Caelen, then realizes her towel is still wrapped around her. Blushing fiercely, she retreats to the dressing room and returns moments later in a bathing robe.

Caelen’s professional composure briefly cracks into a blush. He turns toward the interrogation room with the peeping observer in custody, while Sava and Maelis gather their things for the banquet.
Back at the Nightshade manor, Sava dresses in a revealing wood elf loincloth dress adorned with bone and fang jewelry. Maelis enters in an elegant dress that leaves her shoulders bare.

Maelis Nightshade
Sava, do you think Caelen would like it?

Sava Nightshade
I don’t know. It’s been eleven years since I interacted with this.
Maelis blushes sheepishly, then walks beside Sava toward the banquet hall. Warm light spills beneath its carved doors as music and conversation gather beyond them.
Inside, the High Chancellor, the Valeharts, Nightshade clan members, Ilyra, and Caelen attend beneath silver branches. Maelis crosses the room and offers Caelen a shy smile.

Maelis Nightshade
Captain Caelen, would you dance with me as a reward for earlier?
“Caelen guides Maelis to the dance floor as they dance together privately as everyone else sat down by dinner as we talked what happened as we eat the feast that the King and Queen provided. Elira entered with a letter from Garric and Alpha on their progress to the Valeharts and the High Chancellor.”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +0)

Caelen Thornmere
Come, Maelis. You asked for a dance, and I will gladly give you one.
Caelen guides Maelis onto the dance floor. They move privately beneath the silver branches while the rest of the company settles at the banquet tables, where music gives way to warm conversation.
Sava takes her place among the feast. Roasted root vegetables, river fish, dark bread, and spiced fruit pass between the King, Queen, Chancellor, Valeharts, Ilyra, and the gathered Nightshade clan members.

Lady Seraphine Valehart
The tower, Taren’s records, and Sav’s escape have changed the shape of our pursuit. Tonight, we eat together because none of us faces that trail alone.
The doors open before the next course arrives. Elira enters carrying a rain-dark letter, her expression brightening as she finds Sava safely seated among the feast.

Elira
This came from Garric and the Alpha Wolf. They have reached the Valehart routes and are making steady progress toward the western refuge.

Elira
They report fresh hoofprints, abandoned camps, and signs that Sav’s allies moved west in haste. Garric says the pack remains safe, and the Alpha Wolf promises they will send another account before dawn.
“I asked Elira about anything else like the Split-Flame network and as well the forged western order if there's any progress on those. The King stood informed everyone with wine in his hand to have a great time and enjoy the dinner. Everyone enjoy the feast and the night. As I ate the elder member of the clan came up and asked me if I'm feeling ok with the clan”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled -1)

Sava Nightshade
Elira, is there any progress on the Split-Flame network or the forged western order?

Elira
Yes. The High Chancellor matched the forged order to a hidden ledger cipher. Garric and the Alpha Wolf found the same split-flame mark on the western route, and their next report should name the surviving agents.
Elira’s answer gives Sava the concrete link she sought, but the knowledge carries a cost: the Chancellor now expects Sava’s household to help interpret the cipher and testify against its makers.

The King of Elder Wood
Then let the investigation wait until morning. Raise your wine, friends. Tonight, we eat, we remember the living, and we enjoy this feast together.
Wine cups rise beneath the silver branches. Music returns, conversation warms, and the feast carries on around Sava as fish, roots, bread, and spiced fruit pass from hand to hand.

the gray-haired Nightshade woman
Sava, are you feeling all right with the clan? You sit among us tonight, but I know belonging cannot be restored by a single royal invitation.
The elder woman waits beside Sava’s place, hands folded over her formal brown sleeves. Around them, the Nightshade clan members continue eating, but their glances turn quietly toward Sava.
“I replied to the elderly woman question with a brutal honest " honestly I'm trying to get used being in civilization again since I been living with my wolf pack for eleven years..old habits die hard" as I drank a glass of rotmeth wine.”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +2)

A servant refills the nearest cup, and Sava takes the rotmeth wine in both hands. Its sharp sweetness warms her throat as Lantern Tongue Mastery steadies the plain truth behind her words.

Sava Nightshade
Honestly, I’m trying to get used to being in civilization again. I’ve been living with my wolf pack for eleven years. Old habits die hard.
She drinks from the cup, letting the rotmeth’s warmth soften the confession without hiding it. Around the table, the Nightshade clan members fall quiet, listening rather than judging.

the gray-haired Nightshade woman
Then you need not pretend to be civilized for our comfort. Tell us which habits keep you safe, and which ones you are willing to set down.
Her answer lands cleanly. Lantern Tongue Mastery turns Sava’s bluntness into an invitation, while the wine’s heat keeps the room from hardening around the difficult admission.

Lady Seraphine Valehart
That is a beginning, Sava. Civilization can learn from the wolf pack too, if it has the humility to listen.
The elder woman nods and returns to her seat. The feast resumes around Sava, but the clan’s glances have changed from cautious curiosity to an attentive willingness to know her as she is.
“I replied to Lady Valehart with nervous shyness "I still don't know how to talk to people so casually" as I took a bite of a hickory smoked roasted hog as I lost myself to such tasty food as my wolf tail wags in excitement as I the King to saved any leftovers animal carcess for my wolf pack to enjoy when come to Elder Wood.”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +0)

Sava Nightshade
I still don't know how to talk to people so casually. Your Majesties, could you save the roasted-meat leftovers for my wolf pack when they come to Elder Wood?
Sava retrieves a slice of hickory-smoked roasted hog from the serving platter and bites into it. The rich smoke and salt steal her attention, while her wolf tail wags beneath the table with unguarded excitement.
Lantern Tongue Mastery turns her nervous honesty into warmth rather than awkwardness. Pack Alpha Bond keeps her request rooted in the pack’s welfare, making the unfamiliar courtly exchange feel like a simple family concern.

The King of Elder Wood
Granted, Sava. The kitchens will preserve suitable roasted meat and other safe scraps for your pack, and the royal stores will keep them marked for their arrival.

The Queen of Elder Wood
And you need not master casual conversation tonight. Eat, listen, and speak plainly. That is more than enough among friends.
The King signals a nearby servant, who records the kitchen instruction. Around the table, the Nightshade clan members relax, and Lady Seraphine’s approving smile makes the request feel less like a breach of custom and more like Sava’s place being recognized.
“My seal activated with a painful shock as I let out painful scream, Caelen and Maelis came to check on me to see if I'm ok. I painful informed Caelen "I got too excited from the hog my tail appeared and triggered my seal." Caelen apologize and starts to remove my seal since I earned his trust after watching me during our travel. The King called for the healers to treat my electrical shock injury.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

The silver seal at Sava’s nape flares with a painful shock. Her scream cuts through the banquet, and Caelen and Maelis rush from the nearby tables toward her.

Sava Nightshade
I got too excited from the hog. My tail appeared and triggered my seal.

Caelen Thornmere
I am sorry, Sava. I should have recognized what the seal was costing you. You have earned my trust, and I will remove it now if you accept.
Caelen kneels behind Sava and carefully braces the silver mark. His trust steadies his hands as he works the royal rune loose, while Sava’s Lycanthrope Control keeps the curse contained instead of letting the shock command her body.
Willpower holds through the last painful pulse. The seal cracks into harmless silver dust, and Caelen lifts away its final fragment, leaving Sava free of its restraint while her curse remains under her control.

The King of Elder Wood
Call the healers at once. Treat the shock injury, and make certain she is not left standing unsupported.
The Healer arrives with attendants and examines Sava’s nape, pulse, and hands before treating the electrical burn with cooling salve and restorative magic. Maelis stays close while Caelen remains beside her, watchful and apologetic.
“The healers quickly healed the electrical burn from my neck with their magic, as I lay on the medical bed quietly whimper "that...hurt" as small tears run down my cheeks. Caelen and Maelis entered to check on me. Maelis asked me if I was ok, I replied I'm fine just shocked how much painful it was. Caelen bow to me as deeply apologized for what had happened and told me that Maelis vouch for me "Maelis had informed me that you can control your werewolf abilities at well, so I'll no longer apply that seal anymore"”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +1)

Cooling salve and restorative magic sweep over Sava’s nape. The electrical burn fades beneath the healers’ hands, leaving her quiet on the medical bed with tears on her cheeks.

Sava Nightshade
That... hurt.
Maelis and Caelen enter together. Maelis comes straight to the bedside, while Caelen stops a respectful distance away and lowers his head.

Maelis Nightshade
Are you all right, Sava? The burn is healed, but you look shaken.

Sava Nightshade
I’m fine, just shocked by how painful it was.

Caelen Thornmere
I apologize deeply, Sava. Maelis told me you can control your werewolf abilities at will, so I will never apply that seal again.
Sava’s quiet reassurance settles Maelis’s fear, and Caelen’s apology is accepted without argument. Lycanthrope Control keeps the curse calm beneath her skin, while her earned trust turns the difficult exchange toward peace.
“I slept the rest of night in the healers hut to recover.”
Sava sleeps through the rest of the night in the healers’ hut, sheltered beneath clean blankets while the fire settles into a low red glow.
The healer checks her breathing and pulse at intervals, finding no renewed spell flare or worsening injury. Outside, Elder Wood grows quiet beneath the stars.
Dawn light reaches the hut’s woven windows. Sava wakes rested enough to sit up, her strength returned in steady increments rather than a sudden rush.

The Healer
You recovered well through the night. The burn is healed, your pulse is steady, and you may leave the bed when you feel ready.
The healer offers Sava water and helps arrange the pillows behind her. No bandages or restraints remain, and the hut holds only the clean scent of herbs and ash.

Sava Nightshade
My body feels steadier after the sleep.
Beyond the hut, morning voices begin to stir through the royal grounds. The path toward her allies and the investigation remains open when Sava is ready to take it.
“I got up from the medical bed as headed back to the clan manor and noticed Maelis and Caelen head towards me as Caelen informed about the peeping intruder that has been dealt with but told me something sinister when he would have done to Maelis if I wasn't there. Maelis ask me if I'm ok especially after such a nasty shock last night, I told her I am fine just a little bit sore the experience”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +1)

Sava rises from the medical bed and walks toward the clan manor at a careful pace. The healer watches from the hut doorway as morning air cools her face.
Maelis and Caelen approach along the garden path. Caelen’s posture is composed, but Maelis keeps glancing toward Sava with unconcealed concern.

Caelen Thornmere
The peeping observer has been dealt with and is secured for questioning. He was not merely watching the spring. He had studied Maelis’s routine and intended to isolate her when no one was nearby.
Caelen’s voice hardens as he explains what the intruder might have attempted. Maelis steps nearer to Sava, her earlier embarrassment replaced by a guarded shiver.

Maelis Nightshade
Are you truly all right, Sava? After that shock last night, you do not have to pretend you are stronger than you feel.

Sava Nightshade
I’m fine, Maelis. I’m just a little sore from the experience.
Lantern Tongue Mastery carries Sava’s plain reassurance without making it sound dismissive. Maelis’s shoulders ease, and the three continue together toward the clan manor, with Caelen keeping watch behind them.
“As we walk back to the clan manor, I noticed Maelis looking at Caelen as he patrol the clan grounds after what happened with the peeping intruder, but every time Caelen turns to her direction Maelis blushes and hide behind a window as she shyly plays with her braids. I walked up to her asked "hey Maelis.. are you in love with Caelen?" Maelis jumped in embarrassment as she has been found out for her love interests towards the Caelen, as she shyly protest "I-I don't know what you're talking about Sava" as she nervously retreats to her room.”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +3)

As they approach the clan manor, Maelis watches Caelen patrol the grounds. Whenever he turns, she blushes, hides behind a window, and nervously winds her braids around her fingers.

Sava Nightshade
Hey, Maelis... are you in love with Caelen?
Lantern Tongue Mastery carries Sava’s plain question gently, without accusation. Maelis jumps, blushes fiercely, and retreats from the window as Caelen pauses outside, unaware of the exchange.

Maelis Nightshade
I-I don’t know what you’re talking about, Sava. I mean... perhaps I do. I care for him. I think I have for some time.
Maelis lowers her hands, caught between embarrassment and relief. Her confession opens a quiet advantage: she knows Caelen will patrol the eastern garden at dusk, where she hopes to speak with him privately.

Maelis Nightshade
Please do not tell him yet. Let me speak to him tonight, after his eastern patrol. I want to say it myself.
She slips into her room, then peeks back through the doorway with a shy, grateful smile. Outside, Caelen resumes his patrol, leaving Maelis with both a plan and the courage to follow it.
“I turned to her as I reply " my lips are sealed Maelis", I also informed Maelis "I'll be with our allies to check for clues where Sav had disappeared to. So you and Caelen are alone, I wish you luck to your confession to him." I headed for the study where the High Chancellor and Valeharts are validating the records.”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +2)

Sava Nightshade
My lips are sealed, Maelis. I’ll be with our allies in the study, checking for clues where Sav disappeared. You and Caelen are alone, so I wish you luck with your confession.

Maelis Nightshade
Thank you, Sava. I’ll speak to him tonight, and I’ll keep your confidence. Bring back whatever you find about Sav.
Maelis retreats toward the eastern garden, gathering her courage as Caelen’s patrol turns that way. Sava crosses the manor toward the study, her pace careful but purposeful.
Lantern Tongue Mastery leaves Maelis’s confession safely sealed in Sava’s plain reassurance, while the successful persuasion lets Maelis face Caelen without fear of interruption.
The study doors stand open. Inside, the High Chancellor, Lord Valehart, and Lady Seraphine have spread Sav’s tower records across the long table, with route maps weighted by the Valehart signet.

the High Chancellor
You arrived at the right moment, Sava. We found a repeated crescent beside three western entries, but none gives a final destination. Help us compare them.
The records are ready for her examination. Three matching marks converge on a forgotten stone circle beyond the western road, and beside the newest entry someone has written: return before moonrise.
“I examined the three crescent moon markings and the quote "Return before Moonrise". I turned to the High Chancellor and Valeharts "how recent these records? Also is there a way to investigate these locations?" I point them out on the map by their coordinates. While back at the clan manor Maelis was changing her clothes to impress Caelen and try confess her feelings for him, but she heard something behind her and saw the peeping intruder in her room..she screamed for Caelen and me.”
SUCCESS (Great Reasoning, rolled -1)

Sava Nightshade
How recent are these records? Is there a way to investigate these locations?
Sava points to the three crescent marks and the words “Return before moonrise.” Her Great Reasoning compares ink, pressure, and route notation; Hard-Won Insight catches the newest entry’s wet-black correction. The records span weeks, but the final mark was made within two days.

the High Chancellor
The westernmost record is recent. We can borrow the tower’s route copies, send scouts to each circle, and approach the newest site before moonrise. The older marks require comparison on the ground.
The answer gives Sava the locations and an actionable order, but costs precious time: verifying the older records leaves the precise purpose of two circles uncertain. Before the maps can be bundled, a scream cuts across the manor.

Maelis Nightshade
Caelen! Sava! Help me! He is in my room!
At the clan manor, Maelis stands half-dressed beside her changing screen, while the peeping observer crouches behind it. He recoils toward the window as her cry brings hurried footsteps from the corridor.

the High Chancellor
Go. The records will remain here. We will secure the copies and follow when the intruder is contained.

“Caelen heard Maelis cries as he saw peeping intruder trying to do sexual assault Maelis by pinning her down as she lay topless. Caelen shoved the intruder off as Maelis covered herself with hands as Caelen and the intruder fought in Maelis bedroom. The intruder tried to kill Caelen with his dagger but Caelen used his sword and decapitated the intruder. After the ordeal Maelis ran towards Caelen cried into his chest despite being topless but Caelen draped his cloak on her as he held her close in his arms.”
SUCCESS (Mediocre Melee Combat, rolled +2)

Caelen reaches Maelis’s room as the peeping observer attacks her. He shoves the intruder away, putting himself between them while Maelis shields herself behind the changing screen.

Maelis Nightshade
Caelen! Keep him away from me!
The observer draws a dagger and lunges. Caelen catches the strike on his sword, but the impact tears his sleeve and cuts a shallow line across his upper arm.
Caelen drives forward with a hard counterstroke. The intruder falls motionless, his attack ended, while the room’s violence fades into stunned silence.
Maelis runs to Caelen, crying against his chest. He wraps his cloak around her shoulders and holds her securely, keeping his wounded arm away from her.

Caelen Thornmere
You are safe now, Maelis. I have you. No one will touch you again.
Footsteps gather in the corridor as the High Chancellor’s warning echoes from the study. Caelen keeps Maelis covered and close while the dead intruder remains under guard.

“Caelen held Maelis close as me and the guards entered Maelis room and saw the bloody aftermath. Maelis still topless and undressed cries on Caelen's chest as he explained to me that peeping intruder tried to assault Maelis but tried to kill him, so he and the intruder fought until he killed the intruder by decapitation. Maelis noticed Caelen's arm injury "Caelen you're injured" she cast her healing magic to his injury”

Sava enters with the Royal Guards and finds Caelen holding Maelis close. The dead peeping observer lies amid the bloody aftermath, while Maelis cries against Caelen’s chest.

Caelen Thornmere
He tried to assault Maelis. When I stopped him, he drew a dagger and tried to kill me. We fought until I brought him down.
Caelen keeps his cloak around Maelis while the Royal Guards secure the room. His wounded arm hangs carefully away from her, a shallow cut darkening his sleeve.

Maelis Nightshade
Caelen, you’re injured.
Maelis turns from his chest and raises one trembling hand. Pale green magic gathers around her fingers, then settles over Caelen’s upper arm.
The healing light closes the shallow wound and clears the blood from Caelen’s sleeve. He flexes his arm once, finding it whole, while Maelis remains sheltered beneath his cloak.

Caelen Thornmere
Thank you, Maelis. Sava, the room is secure, but we need to record everything he attempted before the guards remove his body.
“I agree with Caelen as the guards record scene and interview with Maelis and Caelen what had happened. I suggested Caelen to take Maelis to his place for the night just to keep her safe. I secretly wink at Maelis to get her chance to confess her feelings for him”
SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +1)

Sava Nightshade
I agree with Caelen's account. Take Maelis to your place for the night, Captain. She will be safer there while the guards finish their questions.
Sava’s plain words carry cleanly through the room. Lantern Tongue Mastery turns the practical request into calm reassurance, while the Royal Guards record her support beside Maelis’s and Caelen’s statements.

Caelen Thornmere
Agreed. Maelis will stay under my protection tonight. I will give the guards a full account before we leave, and she will not be left alone.
The guards question Caelen and Maelis separately, noting the intrusion, the dagger, and the dead observer’s movements. Their testimony agrees, and permission is granted for Maelis to shelter at Caelen’s quarters.
As Maelis gathers her cloak, Sava catches her eye and gives a discreet wink. Lantern Tongue Mastery leaves the gesture light and unmistakable: tonight is her chance to speak.

Maelis Nightshade
Caelen, before we reach your place, there is something I need to tell you. I care for you, more deeply than I have known how to say.

Caelen Thornmere
Maelis, I care for you too. Come with me. We will speak safely, and I will make certain you are protected tonight.

Shortly after reaching Caelen's house, Maelis clasps her hands as admits her feelings for him as step forward to kiss him deeply. Maelis blush deep as she and Caelen undress completely nude as Caelen lay her on the bed as they continue to make out and start having sex through the night.”

Sava watches Caelen escort Maelis through the evening streets. Maelis clings to his armMaelis, a young adult wood elf woman with an average build, light olive skin, dark brown hair in a loose braid, and a green cloak over a cream tunic, clings to his arm, her blush deepening as they reach the captain’s quiet house and close the door behind them.

Maelis Nightshade
Caelen, I meant what I said. I care for you, and I do not want to hide it anymore.
Maelis clasps her hands, then steps forward and kisses Caelen deeply. Surprise yields to tenderness as he holds her carefully, giving her time to draw back or remain close.

Caelen Thornmere
You never needed to hide from me, Maelis. Stay because you choose to, and I will meet you with the same choice.
Maelis answers by drawing him close again. They undress privately, leaving their clothing beside the bed before settling together beneath the blankets.
The intimate night fades from view. By morning, Maelis rests safely beside Caelen, her head against his shoulder, while the house remains quiet and guarded.

Maelis Nightshade
I am still embarrassed, but I am glad I told you. I want to face the court, the clan, and whatever comes next with you beside me.
