Then we begin quietly. Power must have a boundary, Sava. Shape the spark, choose its edge, and release it before it asks anything more of you.

The ledgers name your father, but they may also name others who watched the forest. Should we conceal the pack's routes, or use the records to expose the network?

The split-flame records remain sealed beside the bed. Beyond the chamber, guarded corridors stay quiet, leaving Sava time to answer while the lesson waits in the Chancellor's patient hand.

✓ Quest Accepted

Uncover who else watched the forest for the split-flame network

“I will study the sealed ledgers for watchers beyond my father. I turned to the High Chancellor asked " is it possible to send a small group of guards to protect my pack and the alliance High Chancellor?" I tried to cast a spark above the bronze bowl. Is it possible to send a small group of guards to protect my pack and the alliance, High Chancellor?

the High Chancellor

the High Chancellor

Yes. I will assign six trusted guards to the forest camp, under Seraphine’s authority and your pack’s boundaries. Their orders will be protection, never control.

Sava borrows the copper bowl from the table and raises her hand above it. A small spark gathers, holds its boundary, and settles harmlessly into the bronze without smoke.

The Healer

With daily supported practice, you may walk short distances within a week. Endurance will take longer, perhaps a month, but there is no sign that your strength will not return.

A month and a half of rehabilitation has restored strength to Sava’s legs. An attendant brings a borrowed, light wood-elf sparring tunic, and she changes before entering the guarded court.

The High Chancellor’s adult guards form a measured circle, wooden practice blades in hand. Sava’s white hair is tied back, her bright eyes fixed on their footwork as Elder Wood awaits beyond this training.

the High Chancellor

Do not chase speed alone. Let your balance carry the strike, and let your body remember what weakness interrupted.

The first guard advances. Sava slips aside, redirects his wooden blade, and counters cleanly. The second presses from her flank, forcing her to pivot, duck, and answer with a sharp disarming strike.

Her final exchange succeeds, but a hurried recovery costs her: the guard’s practice blade clips her ribs, leaving a deepening bruise beneath the tunic and stealing one breath.

the High Chancellor

the High Chancellor

Enough. You defeated the line, and you paid for haste. Rest, then repeat it until agility no longer depends on desperation.

Your Majesties, Sava needs the truth. Is Sav Nightshade still in Elder Wood, or has he vanished? And does the Nightshade clan remain?

The King’s fingers tighten around the carved arm of his throne. The Queen studies the sealed records, then exchanges a grave glance with him.

“Me, Maelis, and Caelen dropped down into the chamber below. Maelis cast a light spell to illuminated the chamber as we scanned the area. Maelis turned around as she noticed something behind her and she screamed as she fell backwards, Caelen ran up to her to claim Maelis down. I walked up to what spooked Maelis..it was a male wood elf mummified corpse hanged by a noose.."well well we finally meet...Taren Voss" I searched his corpse to see if there's anything of note. I turned to Maelis and Caelen told them I found something "hey I found something..a manifesto". I read the manifesto explaining that Sav Nightshade has joined a necromancer group called Split-Flame and Taren Voss was the one that attacked and cursed Sava but due to guilt, he committed suicide. I handed the manifesto to Caelen and Maelis as I cursed to my father for joining necromancy”

Well, well. We finally meet, Taren Voss.

Behind a cracked belt pouch, Sava finds a folded manifesto sealed in black wax. The writing identifies Taren Voss, a gaunt adult wood elf man with an angular, desiccated face, long matted brown hair, and tattered dark travel clothes and lays out Sav Nightshade’s connection to the Split-Flame necromancers.
