Hunter and Joy reach the stall to find the row changed in a dozen small ways. People stand a little straighter. Conversations stay low, but they carry fast from table to table. The validated petition is already making the market feel less like a hallway and more like a place that can answer back.

The Organizer
It went through. Officially. They have to treat the grievance as filed now.

Elias
That means the office cannot quietly redraw us out of the lot. Not without answering the record.
The Organizer holds out the notice, its clipped edge still crisp from the office tray. Nearby vendors glance over, then glance away, but nobody looks frightened anymore. A few of them are already straightening signs and checking their own stall lines as if the next step is suddenly real.

Mrs. Gable
Well. That saves everybody a lot of running in circles.

The Clerk
For the record, I processed it as instructed. The grievance stands.
The Clerk’s voice comes from the office doorway, tight and careful. She does not step far into the aisle. The ink on her thumb is still visible, a small mark that makes the whole thing feel undeniable.

The Inspector
Then the market office follows the filing. That is the point of a clean record.
The words land, and the lot answers with a quiet shift. Vendors begin making space for each other on their own terms, not the office’s. Hunter can see it now, the conflict moving one step closer to the open stall rows, where the market will either keep its footing or be forced to give it up.
✓ Quest Accepted
Hold the vendors together through the implementation fight
“I walk to the center of the row and thank the vendors for standing together.”
SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled -2)

Hunter leaves Joy near the stall and walks the row’s center, stopping where everyone can see him without having to crowd in.

Hunter McCready
Thanks, all of you, for standing together on this.
A few vendors answer with small nods, and the line of shoulders loosens instead of tightening. Hunter’s cuff brushes a stack of papers, leaving a faint streak of ink across the edge.

Mrs. Gable
You made it easier to stand up straight. That matters.

Elias
The office likes us isolated. This feels better than that.

The Organizer
I was ready for a filing. I was not ready for half the row to look back at me.
Her smile wobbles for a second, then settles. The Clerk looks down at the validated notice, relieved to be out of the center of it, while the Inspector gives a short, approving nod from the doorway.

The Inspector
Keep the record visible, keep the group visible. That is how this holds.
