Catastrophe vs Chu

The service road opens onto the plant’s outer perimeter. Transformers spit blue fire through the rain, while rolling smoke veils the main structure and its trembling towers.

Chu emerges from the emergency exit, battered but upright, her small frame framed by red alarms and drifting steam. Her sharp gaze fixes on Catastrophe.

She points toward the unstable facility, where warning lights pulse beneath the smoke, then raises both fists. The workers have escaped; Chu alone stayed behind.

The plant answers with a deafening warning tone. Windows burst outward in distant sections, and a wave of heat rolls across the fenced yard without yet reaching them.

Chu steps into the center of the service road, guarding the route back to the city. Behind her, the collapsing power plant glows like a storm about to break.

Catastrophe circles along the chain-link fence, keeping her numb shoulder turned away from Chu as rain slicks the service road beneath her boots.

Her route carries her around the vigilante’s position and toward the darker perimeter gate, but her boot strikes a loose length of pipe.

The pipe clatters loudly across the concrete. The jolt pulls at Catastrophe’s injured shoulder, sending fresh pain down her stiff arm.

Chu pivots toward the noise and rushes along the road, fists raised, but Catastrophe has already completed the circle and reached the fence’s shadowed corner.

Beyond the corner, a service gate stands chained open for emergency crews. The city glimmers past it through rain and drifting smoke.
