The neon glow of Kushiro fades behind them as the city gives way to the rusted, industrial outskirts. They find refuge in a derelict bus depot, the air smelling of ozone and stagnant rainwater. Kantorou leans against a stack of rotting tires, his white trench coat stained with grime.

Matoya Kaririba
We made it. That monster… whatever he was, he didn’t follow. Keep that side compressed, Kantorou.

Kantorou Mashashiba
It’s nothing. I’ve taken worse beatings from the pavement. We secured the money, didn't we?

Kantorou Mashashiba
My ribs scream with every breath, but the cash is safe. That demon-man wasn't interested in our haul. He wanted a challenge, not currency. I need to get back to the others before the rival schools catch wind of our retreat.

Matoya Kaririba
Just breathe. We stay low tonight, then we head back to the base at first light. We aren't out of this until we’re back on our own turf.

Matoya Kaririba
He’s pushing himself too hard. Asura or not, he’s human. If he breaks now, the whole gang falls apart.

“*Kantorou lights a cigarette and starts his motorcycle he then tries to heal up* *roll for healing*”
FAILURE (Fair Health, rolled +0)
Kantorou Mashashiba flicks his lighter, but his hand shakes violently, the metal chain around his wrist clattering against his sleeve. The cigarette slips through his numb, bloodied fingers, vanishing into a puddle of dark oil. He kicks the ignition of his bike, but the engine only wheezes with a sickening, metallic grind, failing to turn over.

Kantorou Mashashiba
My vision is pulsing at the edges. The adrenaline is fading, replaced by a cold, hollow ache in my gut that won't stop. I'm slowing down. If I can't even start this machine, how am I supposed to tear through the gangs?

Matoya Kaririba
Don't force it, Kantorou! You're leaking oil, and that machine is dead weight if the block is cracked. Sit down before you pass out.

Matoya Kaririba
He's grey in the face. If he keeps pushing, he's going to collapse right in the path of whoever is tracking us.
From the shadowed entrance of the depot, the rhythmic clicking of heavy boot heels echoes against the concrete floor.
