Mara crouches by the lower trail, tracing black paint flecks across stone. The masked challenger leads the courier behind her, while Ren follows toward the rocky shelf.
Mara Vey
There. The genuine supply road runs beyond that shelf. The markers bend toward it, not the pass.
Sandstone shifts above them. Three enemy shinobi burst from concealed hollows: a broad young man with a wrapped forearm, a masked woman carrying a fresh coded map, and a lean older man reaching for the painted markers.
The Masked Challenger
Behind me, courier. Mara, keep sight of that road.
The broad scout drops hard toward the group, kunai flashing. The older scout scrapes at the nearest black flecks, while the map-carrier circles wide, protecting the coded document.
Mara Vey
Ren, the map-carrier is their witness. If those markers vanish, we lose the true target.
The masked challenger intercepts the first strike beside the courier. Dust erupts around Ren as the remaining scouts close from opposite sides, leaving him an immediate opening to answer.
✓ Quest Accepted
Stop the enemy scouts from destroying the evidence.
“I use fire ball jutsu and turn them into ashes”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)
Ren’s hands form the seals. Chakra surges through his lungs, and a roaring fireball tears across the rocky shelf toward the three scouts.
The broad scout breaks from the masked challenger, but the flame engulfs him, the map-carrier, and the older man at the markers. Their figures vanish within the blazing sphere.
Heat rolls through the pass. When the fire collapses, only drifting ash remains where the scouts stood, while black marker flecks scatter across the scorched stone.
Mara Vey
The road is safe. But the coded map is gone with them.
The masked challenger lowers her short blade beside the courier. Dust and smoke veil her blue bead as she stares at the empty shelf.
The Masked Challenger
That was decisive, Leaf shinobi. Now we carry the warning before more scouts arrive.
Mara Vey
The genuine route still lies beyond the shelf. We can reach the supply road from here.
