Ren enters the Land of Wind through a narrow sandstone pass. Wind combs the cliffs, exposing black-painted markers beneath the dust and distant movement beyond the ridge.
A masked young adult woman crouches beside the trail, lean and sand-stained, wrapped in a tan veil and dark shinobi layers. A chipped blue bead hangs from her mask.
She slices a rope from a captured courier, a gaunt middle-aged man in a faded green vest. He collapses against the rock, clutching a sealed message.
The Masked Challenger
The markers are theirs. Enemy scouts are closing on the smaller nation's supply road.
The Courier
The road is undefended. Warn your superiors before the first wagons leave the pass.
The masked woman snatches the message, then pivots. Her short blade rises toward Ren, its edge catching the desert sun while the courier struggles to stand.
The Masked Challenger
You followed me through hostile ground. State your allegiance, or give me one reason not to count you among the scouts.

✓ Quest Accepted
Warn the smaller nation’s superiors about the undefended supply road.
“I keep my hands visible and state my allegiance without reaching for a weapon.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)
Ren keeps both hands open and plainly visible, well away from his weapons. Wind pulls at his dark hair as his scarlet Mangekyō eyes remain fixed on the masked challenger.
Ren Uchiha
I am Ren Uchiha of Konohagakure. My allegiance is to the Hidden Leaf, not to the scouts on your road.
The masked challenger studies his posture, then lowers her short blade from his chest. The chipped blue bead taps softly against her veil.
The Masked Challenger
A Leaf shinobi, this far into the Land of Wind, carrying no banner and offering no weapon. That is a dangerous introduction.
She turns the sealed message in her gloved hand, weighing it against his answer. The courier watches from the rock, breathing hard but no longer threatened by her blade.
The Masked Challenger
Still, you answered without reaching for steel. I will accept your allegiance for now. Help keep this warning from dying in the pass.
