Tommy’s glass office hangs over the city like a knife edge. Rain beads on the windows, neon smears the skyline, and the air tastes of expensive cologne and hot electronics. Shredded paperwork litters the rug at Tommy’s polished shoes.

Don Capozzi steps in to find his son behind the mahogany desk, shoulders rigid, jaw set hard enough to crack. Near the window, Toni has gone small inside her hood, horns just visible, her hands tight at her sides.

The shipment was clean, then it vanished. I want to know who touched it.

If he looks at me again, I’m finished.

Tommy slaps a torn manifest onto the desk, the pages fluttering like wounded birds. His fury keeps circling, but it has a tight, practical edge. This is not just anger, it is damage control.

The manifest is a mess, but not the only copy.

Toni was on the waterfront contacts. Maybe she lost it. Maybe somebody helped her. I’m done guessing.

I did not lose it. Someone moved against us before the trucks even docked.

Tommy’s hand curls around a cracked phone on the desk, ready to call whoever he trusts next. Toni watches Don, waiting for the one decision that can stop the room from breaking open.

Stop Tommy from turning this into a punishment

Tommy, cut your little sister some slack. She's only been working in the office for a month. And we all know it was a bad udea to have her watching over a shipment alone. If it was sabotaged ir attacked there was nothing she could've done. Vinny ir Vicky should've been on the job with her. Why weren't they?

Tommy, give Toni a break. She has barely been in the office a month. If the shipment was sabotaged or hit, she could not have stopped it alone. Vinny or Vicky should have been there. Why were they not?

Thomas "Tommy" Capozzi

Thomas "Tommy" Capozzi

Because I put the wrong people where the risk was highest. That is on me.

You are... not blaming me?

Not tonight. Tonight I want the gap named, not a scapegoat.

Toni exhales like she has been holding her breath since the door opened. Tommy’s grip loosens on the cracked phone, and the anger in his face cools into a hard, embarrassed focus.

Vinny should have had eyes on the waterfront, or Vicky should have stayed with the manifest. Instead I had one rookie and a blind spot.

I can pull the logs again, call the dock manager, whatever you need. Just do not throw me under the wheels.

You are staying on it. And Don is right, if this happened before the trucks docked, somebody planned it.
