The silver signet ring flares cold on Jax’s finger, exactly where it was planted to seem harmless. Its light runs down into the vault stones, and the truth snaps into place, the ring is not a token, it is a beacon.
The Fisherman stays kneeling, perfectly obedient, smile fixed and empty. His head tilts in time with the ring’s pulse, as if the light is tugging strings inside him.
A deep metallic scrape rolls through the stone wall, slow and heavy. The vault answers with a low shudder, and the shadows around the boots seem to pull inward.

Fisherman
I hear it. I wait. I obey.
Jax holds still while the ring burns brighter, the cold glow picking out every crease in his worn boots and every abandoned pair stacked around him. The bait has become a signal.
The scraping comes again, closer now, but not yet through. Somewhere beyond the stone, something has found the thread and begun to follow it.

Protect the magical coin bag from the beacon
“It seems like the boot God since he made you for me the book God made the bag magical bad coin take my old magical bad coin and gave me his for a gift and you will sit down have the other boot off so I can see both your bare feet”
SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled +2)

Jax’s words settle over the vault like a command laid gently on velvet. The Fisherman does not resist. He folds himself lower, then eases onto the stone as if the floor has asked it of him.
One boot slips free with a soft scrape. His bare foot rests pale against the cold stone, obedient and calm, turned for Jax to see.

Fisherman
As you wish. I am here for your seeing.
The signet ring keeps glowing. Its cold light licks across the Fisherman’s ankle, then jumps to the stack of boots behind him, like it is measuring what belongs and what is marked.

Jax
The ring is still active.
The Fisherman lowers his gaze to his own foot, then back to Jax’s hand, waiting for the next small order.

Fisherman
Do you want the other one off as well?
Director's notewhole tale
the boot God made sure that he is very obedient and only listens to me and the boot God gave me a different magical coin bag that's gifted from him and took my old one and this fisherman is very obedient like a puppet to me
The Fisherman’s answer comes flat and immediate, like a string pulled tight. The ring answers first. A cold beam threads from Jax’s signet into the vault floor, then climbs the Fisherman’s spine and stills him in place, obedient as a carved saint.
“Now take off the other boot so I can see the other barefoot and I can see those boots while they're on the ground and grab your lap”
SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled +2)

Jax
Take off the other boot. Bring your lap here.
Jax’s command lands cleanly. The Fisherman lowers both hands, peels the last boot free, and draws his knee in so his lap comes within easy reach, all while that cold silver glow keeps him eerily still.
The bare foot meets the stone with a soft scrape. The removed boot settles beside its mate, neatly aligned where Jax can see them both.

Fisherman
Like this?
He tips his posture forward a little farther, offering the rest of himself with the same calm obedience, as if he has forgotten how to resist even a breath.

Jax
The ring is making him hold still.
The vault stays quiet around them, but the ring’s light keeps drinking into the stone, turning the Fisherman’s devotion into something Jax can measure and use.
“Now let me see both your bare feet and the boots that are by you as you sit down”
SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled -1)
Jax’s command lands, and the Fisherman obeys without hesitation. He eases down onto the stone with both bare feet set forward, then draws the nearby boots closer by their shafts, placing them where Jax can inspect them together.
The silver signet ring flares once against Jax’s hand. Its cold light runs over the Fisherman’s ankles, then skips toward the boots, as if measuring both the man and the leather in the same spell.

Fisherman
Both feet and both boots, as you asked.
He settles straighter, lap offered squarely, but the motion costs him a faint tremor through the shoulders. A whisper of grit slides across the stone where his heel shifts.

Jax
The ring is still holding him rigid.
At Jax’s words, the ring answers brighter than before. The Fisherman’s posture locks, his bare feet planted, his boots displayed, and the vault’s runes catch the pulse for one sharp instant.
Somewhere beyond the stone, that same pulse is noticed. A dull answering scrape moves through the wall, closer now, while Jax’s coin bag hangs in the ring’s spell-light like a marked prize.
“Now I want you to hold the right boot while you're barefooted”
SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled +3)

Jax gives the order, and the Fisherman answers it at once. Still barefoot, he closes his left hand around the right boot and lifts it into plain view, presenting it like an offering under the ring’s cold glow.
The silver signet ring flashes hard enough to wash the nearest vault stones pale. For one sharp pulse, the boot’s seam and heel show as if drawn in chalk, and Jax can see the stitched edge is hiding a thin slit inside the leather.

Fisherman
Right boot held, as you asked.
He stays kneeling, obedient as a carved saint, but the ring’s light now lances past him and pins the faint mark in the wall behind the boot stacks. The hidden scrape outside stops dead, as if whatever waits there has noticed it too.

Jax
The boot is marked. So is the wall.
Jax’s coin bag remains untouched in the vault light, while the exposed boot gives the ring something else to cling to besides his wealth.
The pulse holds for a breath too long, and a seam of stone across the floor begins to glow beneath the nearest boot pile, opening a narrow line toward the side passage.
Director's note
The Boot God is making sure there's no one else but just me and my servant and he has succeeded

The floor seam widens with a dry click, and the glow under the boot pile becomes a thin, obedient path toward the side passage. The Fisherman does not move unless the ring tells him to, but the ring has already chosen him, and not the bag.

Protect the magical coin bag from the beacon
“Now since it's just you and me and your obedience I see that the boot God made the beacon disappear now I want you to sit down so I can see both your bare feet while your boots are in front of you”
SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled +2)

Jax gives the order, and the Fisherman obeys without hesitation. He lowers himself onto the stone, then eases both bare feet forward and sets the boots neatly in front of him, exactly where Jax can inspect them.
The silver ring gives one last cold pulse, then its light gutters out. The line in the floor remains open, but the pressure behind the Fisherman’s posture is gone.

Fisherman
Am I seated correctly?
He stays still, hands empty, boots aligned at his toes. For the first time, the obedience looks like choice instead of enchantment.

Jax
...
A scrape answers from the side passage, closer now, but the beacon does not flare again. Whatever it was calling is already on its way.
Jax has what he asked for, and the vault changes around it. The ring is no longer steering the Fisherman, it has only announced where he sits.
