The transport skids to a dead stop under the district perimeter gates. Red scan-lights rake the corridor, and Yma’s console screams over the engine hiss.

Yma
Trace is live. Patrol unit on the sweep, three signatures, maybe more behind it.
Kay stands in the open hatch with the shotgun raised. The jammed locking strut rattles inches from his shoulder, and sparks spit off the wounded frame.

Ocram
If that gate shuts, we are boxed in. Kay, buy me ten seconds, I can punch through the side service lane.

Taled
Then I take the patrol. Keep the wheels moving.
Outside, armored boots hit the deck. The Yakuza squad fans out under the scan beam, rifles up, closing on the crippled transport.

Kay
Gate in front, patrol behind. The beacon turns the whole city into a net.
The choice lands hard, fight through the squad now or force the transport past the gate before Los Muertos seals them inside.
✓ Quest Accepted
Force the gate open
“Ocram slams on the gas and charges into the Yakuza blockade.”
SUCCESS (Good Agility, rolled +3)

Ocram floors it. The transport lunges forward, sparks tearing from the damaged frame as the cargo bay shudders sideways under the blast of acceleration.
Kay keeps his balance at the hatch while the deck drops out from under the Yakuza line. Their rifles jerk up too late.
The armored nose slams the blockade and drives through it. Two armored bodies spin away across the wet deck, and the patrol scatters from the impact.

Ocram
Lane is open. Hold on.

Yma
Trace spike is climbing again, but the gate sensors just lost the clean read.
Beyond the shattered line, the perimeter gate looms half-seen through red haze, still closing somewhere ahead in the corridor.
Taled plants himself at the hatch, already turning for the next threat, while the beacon keeps burning in the cargo bay behind them.
“Kay reload and shoot the beacon in the cargo bay behind them.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Firearms, rolled -2)

Kay snaps a fresh magazine into the Mac 10 and leans into the recoil pocket, braced by the hatch as the transport bucks through the corridor.
He swings the muzzle back into the cargo bay and finds the beacon's housing still blazing on the bulkhead.

Kay
Take that, you high-tech fried noodle piece of shit.
The burst punches the beacon apart. Light dies under a shower of sparks, and the cargo bay goes one notch darker.
A hot fragment kisses Kay's forearm, a sharp sting through the chaos, but the signal burn is gone.

Yma
Good. The trace just lost its anchor.

Ocram
Gate's still arguing with itself. I'm pushing it now.
Ahead, the perimeter gate grinds under red haze, still moving, while the crew's last clean cover burns out with the shattered beacon.
“Ocram guns the engine and narrowly slips under the metal gate separating the prison from the city.”
FAILURE (Good Agility, rolled -3)

The transport slams into the perimeter gate's first barrier, and the impact jolts every loose panel in the cargo bay.
Instead of folding, the metal teeth lock hard, grinding the front end sideways with a shriek of stressed alloy.
Ocram wrestles the wheel and punches the accelerator, but the vehicle only shudders, pinned at an angle under the frame.

Ocram
It's hung up. Gate caught the nose.

Yma
Trace is spiking again. They've got a bead on us.
Taled shifts toward the rear hatch, ready to cover the bay, while the red haze outside deepens with the sound of approaching traffic.
The truck is not through. The gate holds it in place, and the crew has to choose fast, push harder or ditch the transport before the patrol closes.
“The team abandons the wrecked vehicle. Ocram sets the truck on fire.”
SUCCESS (Great Athletics, rolled -1)

Kay hits the side latch and the cargo seal gives with a screaming snap. Cold corridor air rushes in as the team bails out, boots clanging onto the deck and then the dark floor beyond.
Ocram kicks the engine into a final surge, then dumps a spark canister into the cab. Flame bites fast along the open frame, licking up into the driver’s side and forcing the wreck to glow like a warning sign.

Kay
The truck is burning. We are not staying with it.

Taled
Move, Kay. Cover and run.
The fire blooms behind them, throwing hard orange light across the gate supports. The jammed transport cracks and settles deeper under the barrier, now a torch pinned in place.

Yma
Trace is off the transport now, but the district is waking up. I need a shadow to vanish into.
Ahead, the perimeter opens into a narrow service lane under stacked concrete and neon spill. Behind them, sirens begin to thread closer through the smoke.
Kay leaves Service lane behind and arrives at Sewer system.
“Yma locates a sewer entrance using his urban GPS. Taled lifts the manhole cover, and the entire team descends into the foul-smelling depths.”
SUCCESS (Good Agility, rolled +0)

The lane drops into a grated service stair, and the sewer air hits like wet metal. Kay reaches the lower catwalk with the others, boots slicking on rust and runoff.

Yma
GPS lock found it. Hatch is under this slab, two meters ahead.
Yma’s screen paints a blinking path through the gloom, then she points once and steps back as Taled grabs the manhole rim.

Taled
Heavy. Good. Quiet if it gives.
He wrenches the cover free, and stale black water breathes up from the shaft. The sudden opening swallows the lane noise, but sirens still gnaw faintly above.
Kay gets the first look down the hole, a maintenance ladder, a narrow stream, and a shadowed tunnel that bends under the district. The route is real.

Yma
We vanish down there, or we get pinned in the open. Move.
“They all jump into the sewer one after another, landing in the disgusting water below.”
SUCCESS (Great Athletics, rolled +4)

Kay drops first, boots skidding on the ladder rungs, then hits the filthy water with a hard splash. Taled follows, hauling himself down with a curse, and Yma comes last, landing clean but furious, her screen held high above the spray.
The shock of their landing ripples the channel. The sewer tunnel opens wider than it looked from above, and a maintenance side cut flashes on Yma’s map, already marked with a live route tag.

Yma
That tag is active. Someone down here already knows this way.
Taled looks back up through the manhole, then slams the cover halfway over the opening with a wet clang, breaking the line of sight from the lane.

Taled
We are in. Move before they peek down.
Kay’s splash sends a rusted float panel bumping ahead in the current, and it exposes a narrow service catwalk tucked into the wall, just enough to keep them off the deepest water.

Yma
Good. This tunnel links to a relay hatch. If it still answers, we get a cleaner exit than the street.
✓ Quest Accepted
Reach the relay hatch
− Scene Quest Removed
Force the gate open
“Follow Yma GPS in the dark”
FAILURE (Fair Perception, rolled -2)

Kay angles the glowing map low and moves with it, but the tunnel answers wrong. The route tag jitters, then jumps a few meters ahead, as if the sewer itself is lying about where the hatch sits.

Kay
The signal is drifting.
He slows at a fork, boots whispering through shallow runoff. The catwalk ends in broken grating, and the dark below it looks deeper than the map promised.

Yma
Stop. You are walking off the clean line. The tag is still active, but it is masking the side cut.
Yma’s screen flares white for a beat, then dims. The live route tag shifts again, and now it points behind Kay, not ahead.

Taled
Great. So the path is bait. Tell me which direction is not a trap.
A red service light blinks farther down the left branch, too steady to be natural. Above it, the tunnel wall carries a fresh smear of wet footprints leading out of sight.
✓ Quest Accepted
Get past the baited fork
− Scene Quest Removed
Reach the relay hatch
“slide into a polluted water discharge pipe”
FAILURE (Good Agility, rolled -2)

Kay drops low and commits to the pipe. His shoulder catches the rim, slick algae and runoff ripping the line out from under him.

Kay
Too tight.
He drives harder anyway, boots scraping the grate, but the discharge pipe spits only a burst of filthy water and refuses his weight.
The failed slide leaves him half-hung at the opening, one arm pinned, the current hammering his side and dragging his balance open to the tunnel.

Yma
Kay, stop forcing that route. The pipe is choked, and you are exposed out there.

Taled
Then we take the dark or we make a breach. Pick fast.
Ahead, the red service light keeps blinking over the wet footprints, while the sewer water surges around Kay's boots like it wants an answer.
“Kay tells Yma to escape through the pipe and maintain radio contact. Taled and Kay prepare to ambush anyone pursuing them through the sewers, lying in wait in the shadows.”
SUCCESS (Great Stealth, rolled +2)

Kay catches Taled’s eye through the black water and jerks his chin toward the pipe. It is enough. Yma reads it at once, already backing off the catwalk edge.

Yma
Copy. I take the pipe, keep the line alive.
She drops low and moves for the drain side, screen dimmed tight against her chest. The blinking red service light keeps washing the tunnel and the footprints in pulses.

Taled
Good. Let them come tired.
Taled slips back into the shadows by the fork, shoulders set, every muscle holding still. Kay eases off the rim and sinks into cover beside him, both of them facing the tunnel mouth.

Yma
If they trace us here, they find empty water and bad luck.
A faint comm hiss rides the damp air, then quiet. Somewhere deeper in the sewer, footsteps splash once and stop, as if someone has heard the dark listen back.

Get past the baited fork

“The Yakuza hunters ventured too far into the depths of the sewers—exactly where Kay and Taled were waiting for them. Kay slips up behind the first Yakuza and slits his throat, while Taled grabs the second one from behind and snaps his neck.”
SUCCESS (Superb Melee Combat, rolled +1)

The first hunter lunges out of the dark, then goes slack in Kay’s grip before he can shout. Blood darkens the tunnel water in a thin ribbon.
Taled crashes into the second from behind, clamps him hard, and the man stops fighting all at once. The sewer goes still except for dripping pipes and the red pulse on the walls.
Kay eases the body down into the black water. The hunter’s scanner slips from numb fingers and spins once before sinking out of sight.
Taled lets go and straightens, breathing slow, eyes already on the tunnel mouth. He looks past Kay, not at him, as if waiting for the next sound to prove it is over.

Taled
Two less.
Down the pipe route, Yma freezes mid-step and turns her screen a fraction, catching the change in the air. Her jaw tightens as the red light keeps pulsing over the fresh kill.

Yma
That just shifted their trace. They know we hit someone.
Far off in the sewer, a third splash answers the silence, then another pause. Something is still moving toward them.
✓ Quest Accepted
Survive the remaining hunters
“Kay and Taled pick up weapons from the Yakuza corpses, exchange a nod, and open fire in full-auto mode toward the sound of footsteps coming from the tunnel.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Firearms, rolled -2)

Kay snaps a scavenged sidearm up from the nearest corpse, and Taled grabs the other. They trade one hard nod, then rake the tunnel mouth with full-auto fire. Muzzle flashes strobe the red water, and the footsteps break apart in a spray of echoes.
The burst chews the darkness. Something metallic drops and skids out of sight, and a wet thud answers from deeper in the pipe. The hunters stop coming forward.
One of the stolen weapons coughs dry halfway through the burst, and Kay’s shoulder jolts from the recoil. The smell of hot propellant and sewer stink folds together in the cramped fork.

Taled
Move.
Yma flinches at the gunfire from the pipe route, then lowers her screen and turns back toward the fork with a sharp look. The red service light keeps pulsing over the bodies, over the water, over the way the tunnel has gone quiet.

Yma
That sound just put every ear in the sewer on us.
For a beat, nothing answers from the dark. Then a loose splash rolls farther off, and the crew is left staring at the mouth of the tunnel, listening for the next decision.

“Taled forces the bars apart, bending them to create a gap for swimming. Kay dives underwater. Taled follows him. Yma breaks away and escapes through the pipe.”
SUCCESS (Good Strength, rolled +2)

Taled plants both boots, catches the bent bars, and wrenches them wider with a raw metallic groan. Black water surges through the new gap, and the tunnel suddenly feels less like a dead end and more like a mouth opening.

Kay
The opening is enough.
Kay drops low and drives under the surface, the sewer swallowing the red light and the gunfire behind him in one hard gulp.
Taled follows without stopping, one arm still bracing the bars so they do not snap shut on them both. The current slaps cold across Kay’s shoulders as the gap flashes above, then disappears.

Yma
I’m breaking off. Cover your own exit.
Yma peels away into the narrower pipe route, her screen glow shrinking fast until it is only a smear on wet concrete. The crew is no longer pinned at the fork, but the split leaves them divided in the dark.
“On the other side, the sewage water is deep, and the current sweeps them far away into the depths of Los Muertos.”
FAILURE (Good Health, rolled -1)

The current catches Kay hard and turns the tunnel into a black chute. He drives for the wall, but the water drags him deeper, farther than the opening behind can reach.
A strip of service lighting flickers beneath the surface, briefly revealing a side seam in the concrete. It is not a safe passage, just a maintenance break big enough to grab.

Kay
That seam is there. Now.
Kay hooks an arm into the crack and hauls himself sideways. The current tears past his legs and keeps going without him.
For a second, the flood pulls something else into view, a broken maintenance ladder bolted above the seam, half-submerged and swaying.

Taled
Kay, move. I can see a rung line.
Taled's voice hits from somewhere upstream, blurred by water and distance, while Kay clings to the concrete and angles toward the ladder before the dark takes it again.
“Taled grabs Kay with one hand and the ladder with the other.”
FAILURE (Good Strength, rolled -2)

Taled catches Kay by the wrist and hauls, but the current twists them both off line. Kay gets one shoulder up toward the ladder, then the flood shoves him back against the wall.

Taled
Hold on. I have the rung.
His free hand slaps metal, finds only the broken lower section. The ladder groans above them, half torn from its anchors, but it stays.
Kay's grip slides. Taled locks his arm around Kay harder, using his own weight as a brace against the water.
The current spits a dead panel of green light across the seam, and for a blink Kay sees the ladder bends toward a narrow service recess beside it.

Taled
Not up. Across.
Above them, the broken rungs shiver in the surge. The recess is reachable, but only if Kay lets go of the seam and commits to the side gap.
✓ Quest Accepted
Get past the ladder into the service recess

Force the gate open under fire
“Taled loses his grip on Kay’s wet hand but catches him by the collar. The ladder shakes. The screws holding the ladder in place fall out one by one. A second violent surge of sewage slams into them with full force. The ladder tears away from the wall. Kay and Taled fall back into the water and are swept away into the bowels of the sewers.”
SUCCESS (Great Athletics, rolled +2)

Kay gets his footing for one brutal second, enough to turn the fall. The torn ladder jerks free behind them, its metal raining loose into the water as the surge takes both men hard into the dark channel below.
Taled stays locked to him through the hit, collar and shoulder, dragging Kay’s head clear of the worst of the current. The service recess vanishes above, swallowed by churning foam and failing green light.
They slam through a bend in the sewer, carried fast by the flood. The walls blur past, slick concrete, rust stains, and a flashing red route tag half drowned in static.
The current spits them into a wider runnel and then drops them lower, away from the ladder zone entirely. The team’s path is no longer a choice, it is momentum.

Taled
You good?
Ahead, a side grating rattles under the pressure of the water, and something below it thumps once, like a service pump waking up.
The flow drives them toward that sound, and Taled tightens his arm around Kay, bracing for whatever is waiting in the next tunnel.

Get past the ladder into the service recess
“A sewer octopus grabs them with its tentacles and tries to drown them in the filthy sewer water.”
FAILURE (Good Strength, rolled +1)

The water clamps down like a fist. Kay wrenching free only gets one arm loose before the thing wraps harder, dragging him under in a burst of black foam.

Kay
The grip is coming from below.
Taled surges in beside him, shoulder first, but the current shoves both of them sideways. Kay claws at the slick mass and feels a tentacle peel away, then another snaps tight around his leg.
The octopus twists with the flow, using the sewer itself as leverage. The side grating flashes past within arm’s reach, rattling harder as the pressure builds.

Taled
Kay, cut left. I can’t hold it!
Kay tears half free, coughing water, but the creature’s retreat opens a narrow gap in the turbulence. Behind the grating, a service pipe mouth sits dry for a heartbeat, just above the floodline.
The current carries them straight at the grating, and the pump-thump below it grows louder, turning the panel into a shaking door.
✓ Quest Accepted
Get free of the sewer octopus
“Taled bites the tentacle, and the octopus lets go.”
SUCCESS (Superb Melee Combat, rolled +1)

Taled lunges in close and clamps his teeth into the tentacle. The creature jerks hard, slackening its grip as the current tears between them.
Kay rips his leg free in the same instant, water exploding around him as the octopus recoils from the bite.

Taled
Go!
The side grating buckles inward under the pressure, and the dry pipe mouth beyond it opens wider, clear and reachable for a beat.

Kay
The hold is broken.
The octopus whips away into the foam, leaving only churning black water and the shaking barrier ahead.
