Dust drifts through the broken dome of the Observatory of Ithryon. Beneath it, the ancient brass mechanism wakes with a low, ringing groan, and starlight spills across the cracked floor in a pattern no mortal sky should wear.
Eladrin stands at the center of the chamber, staff in hand, as the shifting gears lock into the same terrible geometry from his vision, flame, a body, and his own shadow over it.
The projected heavens flicker from Elarion to the Feywild, constellations sliding like water over stone. The air smells of old metal, cold ash, and rain that has not yet fallen.
Then footsteps strike the stairwell outside, measured and purposeful, climbing toward the chamber.

The Stranger
Who is here? Show yourself, before I mistake you for the thing that brought this ruin back to life.
A silhouette appears in the archway, tall and travel-worn, one hand near a sheathed blade, the other raised to shield his eyes from the astral glow.
Eladrin knows that face. It is the dead man from the vision, alive, breathing, and staring straight at him.

The Stranger
You. I have seen you before, in a dream that ended in fire. Tell me now, why does this place know your shape?

“I step into the starlight, letting the projection cast my shadow upon the floor.”
SUCCESS (Good Willpower, rolled -1)

Eladrin steps into the starlit center, and the floor answers him. His shadow stretches sharp and black across the projected constellations, fitting the vision’s outline as if the chamber has been waiting for this exact shape.
The brass gears give a sudden, complaining shiver. A spray of dust falls from the broken dome, and the light catches on fresh scratches in the stone where his boots cross the circle.

The Stranger
By the heavens... It is not a trick. That shadow was mine to lose, not yours to wear.

The Stranger
He stares at Eladrin’s feet, then at the star-map, as if two impossible memories have just overlapped.

The Stranger
I know this chamber. I know the fire. I was here when the vision broke open, and I saw the blaze take shape around you.
The projection ripples, and for a breath the floor becomes a burning arc of future and past together. The Stranger lowers his hand from his eyes, no longer shielding himself from the light.

The Stranger
If the observatory knows your outline, then it is because I led the pattern here. Tell me, Eladrin, what did you come to change?

“I lower my staff and demand the fire's truth”
SUCCESS (Good Willpower, rolled +0)

Eladrin lowers his staff. The projected fire dims at once, as if listening.

Eladrin Világ
Tell me the truth about the fire.
The Stranger flinches at the demand, then lets out a slow breath. Dust glitters on his shoulders like ash.

The Stranger
Truth? I ran toward it thinking I could stop it. Instead, I saw you at its heart, and I did nothing. That is the part I cannot wash away.
The star-map shivers underfoot, and a bright seam of light cuts across the floor between them.

The Stranger
I did not light the ruin, Eladrin. But I led the pattern that brought us both here. If the fire had a hand, it wore my shadow first.
His jaw tightens. One hand drifts to the hilt at his side, then stops, emptying into the air as if the gesture itself costs him.

The Stranger
So ask it plainly, if you mean to judge me. Was I the cause, or only the witness who failed you?

“I step across the seam of light to stand closer to him.”
SUCCESS (Fair Agility, rolled -1)

Eladrin steps over the seam of light, and the split projection stings his boots cold. Dust clings to his hem as he comes to a stop beside the Stranger.
The move costs him a sharp scrape of light across his ankle, thin as a paper cut. He does not bleed, but the bite makes the crossing feel exact.

The Stranger
He is here. Close enough to see I am not hiding.

The Stranger
No. I did not cause the fire.

The Stranger
I ran toward it because I saw the ruin before the smoke rose, and still I arrived too late.

The Stranger
But I did lead the pattern that put your shadow in its path. If that is guilt, then judge me for it.
The seam of light trembles between them, brightening their faces with a hard silver line. The Stranger keeps his eyes on Eladrin, waiting for the judgment he has just offered up.
