Thomas kills the utility truck beneath the water tower’s shadow. Maya and Evan unload the four cased UV lamps while Charlie remains beside the open rear doors, shielded from the road.

Cases open on the truck bed. Two lamps power on immediately; a third flickers until Evan replaces its battery, while the fourth gives only a weak violet glow.

Thomas carries the tested lamps up the tower stairs with Maya and Evan. From the platform, Franklin Road lies silver beneath the fading night, and the church lot sits beyond it.

Charlie checks the hammer’s taped grip, tightens the wrist lanyard, and keeps the weapon ready beside the tower platform’s railing.

Below, the two small shapes remain near the pharmacy’s shadow while the larger figure circles beyond the church lot. The tower gives the team a clear view without exposing them.

Charlie switches off one UV lamp, straps it securely to his backpack, and starts down the tower stairs with the hammer ready. The remaining strong lamps stay trained toward the pharmacy and church lot.

The creature advances into the fading darkness, broad shoulders and armored growths resolving beneath the distant light. Evan marks its path while Thomas and Maya angle the UV lamps toward Charlie’s retreat.

Charlie steadies his breathing, plants his feet, and checks the dark route ahead. Behind him, the strong UV lamps remain trained toward the pharmacy and tower.

His call cuts across the road. The Demolisher turns fully toward him, abandoning its circling path as Charlie sprints into the darkness beyond the church lot.

Charlie draws the Demolisher decisively away from the pharmacy shadows. The two small figures remain concealed while Thomas, Maya, and Evan track the widening gap.

Maya angles one lamp toward Charlie’s retreat route while Evan marks the separation. Thomas guides the team down from the tower, with the pharmacy approach temporarily open.

Charlie keeps running, cuts around the building’s corner, and threads between parked cars. The Demolisher follows, its bulk scraping mirrors and crushing loose debris behind him.

He slips through a narrow gap between two sedans and breaks toward the far side of the lot. A jagged mirror catches his upper arm, tearing fabric and leaving a shallow cut.

From the tower approach, Maya sweeps a strong UV lamp across the open lane while Thomas signals toward the pharmacy. Evan points out the cleared path to the concealed boys.

The Demolisher tears free behind the parked cars, but Charlie’s maneuver has bought a usable route. Thomas, Maya, and Evan advance toward the pharmacy shadows with the UV lamps ready.

Charlie cuts deeper into the parking lot, weaving around abandoned sedans while the Demolisher tears after him. Its armored bulk leaves a trail of crushed glass and twisted metal.

A delivery bay opens ahead beside a shuttered grocery store. Charlie spots a concrete loading ramp, a waist-high barrier, and a parked box truck blocking the creature’s cleanest approach.

Charlie leads the Demolisher past the pharmacy sightline and onto the loading apron, reaching the ramp with the truck between himself and the creature’s broadest charge.

From the pharmacy approach, Maya and Evan move toward the concealed boys while Thomas holds the UV beam across the open lot. Charlie now has height, hard cover, and a constrained target lane.

Charlie raises the UV lamp directly into the Demolisher’s face. The creature recoils, roaring and shielding its eyes as its charge loses force against the box truck.

Using the opening, Charlie swings the reinforced hammer into one armored leg. The blow lands solidly below the growths, forcing the Demolisher to stagger and drop heavily against the loading ramp.

Thomas holds his UV beam across the creature while Maya and Evan reach the pharmacy entrance. Two frightened boys emerge from the shadows, keeping low behind Evan.

The Demolisher slams one fist into the ramp, but the truck blocks its angle. Charlie’s strike has bought the team a clear extraction window, and Maya waves the boys toward cover.

Charlie grabs the box truck’s side rail, plants a foot on the wheel hub, and scrambles onto the roof. The elevated position gives him a clear view of the loading apron.

Below, the Demolisher swings toward the truck, but its armored bulk cannot reach Charlie on the roof. The UV beams keep its attention divided and its advance checked.

Evan guides the two boys toward the utility truck while Maya backs them with her lamp. Both children move quickly, staying low as the creature claws at the box truck below Charlie.

Charlie jumps from the box truck roof, lands in a controlled roll, and comes up running without breaking stride. The Demolisher turns after him, away from the utility truck.

Charlie sprints across the loading apron toward the utility truck. Maya sweeps her lamp across the Demolisher while Evan pulls the rear door shut around the two rescued boys.

The Demolisher smashes into the box truck instead of Charlie, rocking the vehicle and showering the pavement with glass. The opening gives Charlie a direct path to the utility truck.

Thomas backs toward the truck while maintaining the UV beam. Maya covers Charlie’s sprint, and the engine growls as the extraction becomes a single coordinated movement.

Charlie dives through the open rear door as the utility truck surges forward. Evan catches his shoulder and pulls him fully inside while the loading apron drops behind them.

The Demolisher slams into the truck’s former position, but Maya’s UV beam forces it to recoil. Thomas guns the engine through the service lane.

Charlie lands hard among the equipment cases, his torn sleeve brushing the truck floor. The shallow cut on his upper arm has left a narrow smear of blood.

Charlie shifts among the equipment cases, keeping his injured arm protected as the utility truck rattles toward a darker, quieter service lane. He smiles at the two boys.

Evan gives each boy a quick medical check while Maya keeps the UV lamp angled toward the rear doors. Neither has a bite, and both remain alert.

The truck bumps over broken pavement. Luis keeps one arm around Mateo while Evan steadies the medical bag, and both boys glance toward the dark rear doors.

Mateo nods fiercely, gripping Luis’s sleeve. Their careful routine explains their survival, but the exhaustion in their faces shows how close those supplies came to running out.

Charlie’s reassurance steadies the cramped truck. As Maya demonstrates a covered UV lamp, one battery indicator drops into the red, consuming a fresh battery before the unit is secured.

Luis looks toward the radio, suddenly more alert. Mateo shifts closer to him as the possibility of another survivor joining them changes the ride back into a rescue plan.
