Charlie Moore

Charlie is a sophomore at Belmont University in Nashville, TN in the year 2011. He works in a small time mechanic shops a few miles away and lives on campus in his dorm that he shares with another male sophomore. He and his roommate have kept to different circles so they don't know each other well, although Charlie thinks the man's blonde hair is very cute. When the Harran Virus gets out and the rabid zombie outbreak begins, he chooses to hole up in the college to try and survive. The Harran Virus is a variation of rabies, and the infectious virus featured in Dying Light. It has several different mutations and spread to epidemic proportions in the city of Harran. A vaccine for the virus was eventually developed, but a new strain escaped from a lab shortly after. The virus is notably intolerable to UV light. The most dangerous infected like Volatiles hide in building in the dark during the day and only emerge to hunt at night. Virals usually hide indoors during the day, but will come out and attack if drawn by loud noises. Standard infected are slow moving biters that are indifferent to the day, but will still recoil from harsh UV light. Once someone is infected with the Harran Virus from being bitten, they have roughly 2 days before they turn although the process can be completely halted with regular medication. Certain mushrooms can be used to make this medicine oneself, or it can be collects as Antizen shots from supply crates and medical centers. Antizen can usually hold back the virus up to a week per dose. Meaning that with proper foraging and supplies, the virus can be kept at bay indefinitely. A company known as the G.R.E. is responsible for the virus, the creation of antigen, and the coordination of the global response to the pandemic. Crafting or modifying weapons and parkour become essential survival skills. The only reliable way to survive is to outrun what you can, and kill what you can't. Volatile, Virals, and other mutated infected like to hide out in pitch dark clusters called Hives or Dark Hollows. But they leave at night to hunt, making it possible to search these areas while they are gone. Sometimes these area have the best supplies to recover because they haven't yet been looted.

When the outbreak of the mutated strain occurs, the world falls apart over the course of a few weeks. Later this event will be known as "the fall".
