The stone doorway seals Athena beneath the council hall. Her pale fire glows through its seams as she searches for a bloodless way to turn Zukalina’s sigil against the conduit.
Ares and Helios cross Corinth’s emptied streets toward Sisyphus’ palace. The dark marks beneath the paving stones fade as they climb toward the high audience chamber.

Helios
Her army has withdrawn, yet she remains here. Either Zukalina expects us, or she believes the palace is safer than the city.
The palace doors stand open. Inside, Zukalina faces a stone basin veined with black fire, her war sigil burning across its rim and answering the buried conduit below.
Sisyphus stands nearby beneath the watch of armed Zukalina soldiers. His calculating face has gone pale, and one hand grips the arm of his throne as the basin pulses.

Zukalina
You came to accuse me. Hear this first: the conduit can be sealed only through the same authority that opened it.

Sisyphus
She says that as though the distinction comforts me. Whatever sleeps below, I never agreed to wake it.
““If you didn’t open it, then who did?””
FAILURE (Poor Reasoning, rolled -3)

Ares
If you didn’t open it, then who did?

Sisyphus
I do not know. I found the basin burning beneath my palace, and Zukalina was already here.
The question strikes the basin like a command. Its black fire surges over the rim, swallowing Sisyphus’s denial and carving a second sigil into the stone floor.

Zukalina
Stop questioning him. The conduit listens for authority, and your challenge has given it another voice to imitate.
A dark imprint flashes across the basin, shaped like Sisyphus’s hand. The palace doors slam shut, and black lines race beneath the audience chamber toward Helios.

Helios
The marks are moving toward me. Sisyphus, speak plainly before this place takes your name as its seal.

Sisyphus
Then hear the truth: I summoned Zukalina, but neither of us opened the conduit. Someone used my palace as the key.
