The buried channel opens beneath Corinth’s eastern riverbank into a drowned archive chamber. Black water covers the floor, reflecting rows of sealed stone shelves and a half-submerged door.

Names carved across the door begin to glow, each letter burning with stolen death. Behind Thanatos, the channel darkens toward the sealed foundation where Sisyphus remains unconscious and secured.

Eudorus

Those marks belong to the erased. Sisyphus stripped their names from his records, then buried the truth beneath his palace.

Eudorus wades closer, his stolen body wavering in the chest-deep reflection. He raises one pale hand toward a cluster of names carved lower than the rest.

Eudorus

Eudorus

These were the ones who saw his crimes. Their deaths became entries in the final ledger, but their names were meant to vanish with them.

The drowned door groans inward. Beyond it, the final ledger rests on a stone stand, its leather cover swollen with age beside a widening seep of Styx water.

The seep creeps across the archive floor toward the ledger, carrying loose scraps of ink-black parchment. Eudorus falls silent, leaving the chamber and its evidence before Thanatos.

“I divert the Styx seep away from the ledger”

Thanatos lifts one hand above the drowned floor. The Styx seep bends toward his will, gathering into a dark ribbon that turns away from the ledger and drains into a side channel.

Violet light travels through the water in precise arcs. The current leaves the stone stand untouched, while the ledger’s swollen leather cover rises clear of the spreading black water.

You protect the record before claiming it. That is the conduct of a witness, not a conqueror.

The diverted seep settles into the side channel, where it flows beneath the shelves without disturbing a single carved name. The archive grows still around the preserved ledger.

The names remain legible. When you open the ledger, the erased will have a voice again.

Eudorus reaches toward the dry stone stand but stops short, leaving the final ledger for Thanatos. Beyond the chamber, the sealed channel remains quiet, and Sisyphus does not stir.

“I take the final ledger from the stone stand and read it aloud.”

Thanatos lifts the final ledger from the stone stand. Water slips from its swollen leather, but the pages remain intact as he opens it before Eudorus.

Thanatos

Thanatos

“I read the names of the erased, and the deeds recorded against them. Let their deaths be known, and let the truth remain.”

His voice carries through the archive. Each spoken name kindles across the drowned door, and the carved letters brighten without burning away.

Eudorus

Eudorus

There. The record recognizes its witness. No king can erase them again while those names are spoken in the order of their deaths.

The final pages reveal more than the dead: beneath the entries lies Sisyphus’s signed admission, naming the hidden chamber where his complete royal records were kept.

Eudorus

Eudorus

He kept a fuller account elsewhere. With this ledger, you can find it and bring every stolen name before the judgment of the Underworld.

As Thanatos finishes reading, the ledger’s ink settles into clear, permanent lines. The drowned archive now holds both the restored names and a precise path to Sisyphus’s concealed records.

Final ledger

“I memorize the restored names and prepare to leave the drowned archive.”

Thanatos fixes each restored name in memory, pairing every life with its recorded death and the order in which Sisyphus erased them. The sequence settles beyond forgetting.

As the final name takes its place, the ledger’s ink briefly rearranges itself into a clear route through the archive, marking a dry exit toward the eastern riverbank.

You carry them now. Even if the pages are lost, their names will not be buried again.

Eudorus steps away from the stone stand and turns toward the opened passage. The black water withdraws from the threshold, leaving the route clear beneath the shelves.

Thanatos

Thanatos

The archive’s path is clear, and the restored names are secure in memory.

Thanatos closes the final ledger and holds it against his side. Eudorus follows as he prepares to leave the drowned archive, with the concealed royal records’ route preserved in the pages and in memory.

Thanatos follows the route preserved in the ledger, moving beneath the eastern riverbank as the dry passage bends through ancient stone and pale Underworld light.

Eudorus

The records lie beyond the last arch. Sisyphus hid them where the river could not wash his own hand from the truth.

The passage opens into a dry chamber beneath the riverbank. Shelves of black stone surround a sealed alcove marked with the same erased names restored in the ledger.

Thanatos places the ledger against the alcove’s seal. Its letters answer in violet light, and the stone door withdraws without resistance, revealing bound rolls, tablets, and royal accounts.

Eudorus

Eudorus

There. These records name every stolen life, every false judgment, and every servant who carried out his commands.

Thanatos reaches the concealed records and stands before them, their contents now within his lawful keeping. Eudorus remains beside him, ready to witness what the pages reveal.
