The thumb-groove answers at once. Kahul’s axe hums, and the cold in the room sharpens into meaning.

Fine Gees crawls across the wall stone, then settles into a clear reading. The first boon is plain, a potent cone of frost, fifteen feet wide, ten times in a day, and it drinks no mana from Kahul.

That is a warding edge, not a siege tool.

More script follows beneath the first line. The axe is the cost, the wall says, a key bound to its own charge, and it must be left to rest for a full day before it can answer again.

So the mountain arms you, but only while it keeps its own balance.

A ten-use gift, then a day to mend. That is a hard bargain, but a useful one.

The frost on the floor turns from random lace into arrows, all of them pointing deeper under the stone. Not upward. Not out. Down, where the ward’s true burden waits.

Then you see it now. The axe is not merely a weapon, Kahul. It is a jailer’s key.

I think about what ive read on the walls regarding magalin

Kahul lets the meaning settle instead of pushing for more. The cold in the room pricks at his muzzle, and the ward’s pulse feels thinner now, like a stretched cord.

Kahul

Kahul

The axe is a key, not just a blade.

The wall script seems to answer the thought with a faint tremor, and the frost arrows below it sharpen. They do not point to treasure. They point to restraint.

Grandfather

A jailer’s key means duty, not glory. If Magalin stirs, this mountain must hold.

And if the ward is this delicate, then every use matters. We have to treat it like a living thing.

Serev

That is the danger, yes. The seal is held by balance, not force. The axe confirms the burden, but it also shows how little slack remains.

A cold breath leaks along the floor seam, and Kahul’s nosebleed dots the stone near his boots. In the blue glow, the frost tracks briefly sketch a deeper chamber, then fade again, leaving one narrow idea behind, the ward listens best when approached gently.

Kahul leaves Cramped hidden record room inside the mountain core behind and arrives at the deepest levels.

I head to the deepest levels to magalin

The deepest levels swallow the heat at once. Blue wardlight crawls over black stone, and a buried chamber opens around Kahul like a held breath finally released.

A low basin of carved rock sits ahead, rimmed with old Gees marks. The frost on its lip points inward, not away, as if the mountain is listening through it.

There. This is where the weight lives. Not in the axe, in what the axe is meant to refuse.

The ward keeps its shape only when it is treated as a patient thing. Push, and it answers less. Steady hands, and it remembers itself.

Kahul’s nosebleed darkens the stone by his feet, but the chamber does not flare. Instead, the blue lines along the floor settle into a calmer pulse, as if recognizing him.

Then we learn its manner together. Tell us what the mountain asks for when it begins to slip.

The chamber waits, fragile and clear, with the buried seal still closed beneath the stone. The question hangs in the cold, for Kahul or the old keepers to answer.
