The drone slides back into the loading bay, red beam sweeping once, then pinning Kale Kaotic Veyl like a verdict. The terminal keeps chewing through logs. The gate seam tightens another notch.

The Courier

The Courier

That’s bad. Much worse than bad.

The Courier snaps up a sidearm, shoulders squared toward the bay door, then glances at Kale and the Stranger like they are both liabilities and leverage.

The Stranger

The Stranger

Too late for quiet. Move, or get boxed in.

A hard bootstep rings from the catwalk above. A new figure drops into the bay light, armor matte-black, visor flickering with corp tags. He levels a shock carbine at Kale without hesitation.

Rusk

Rusk

Copying secured data is theft. Breach confirmed. Put your hands where I can see them.

The Courier shifts left, trying to angle a shot past Rusk. The Stranger edges for the narrowing seam. The bay feels one pulse away from a firefight.

✓ Quest Accepted

Disable the search drone

Kale immediately focuses on the search drone. He uses his cybernetic systems and access to the facility network to identify it's weak point. He redirects or disables the drone without destroying it.

Kale’s gaze locks to the drone’s service lattice, and his chrome flickers with a silent interface handshake. The search beam stutters, skates off target, then folds sideways as if yanked by an unseen leash.

Kale Kaotic Veyl

Weak point found. It is tied into the bay network, not just local control.

The drone drifts upward, its red eye dimming to a dead amber. It does not crash, only goes listless, hovering in place like a puppet with cut strings.

The Courier

The Courier

Nice. Keep that thing blind.

Rusk

Rusk

Drone, respond. Status check.

Rusk shifts his carbine off Kale for half a second, thumb stabbing at his own comms. The Stranger pauses at the seam, ocular implants flashing as the door crawls tighter.

The terminal spits another line of decrypted file names, the medical wing access log visible for a blink before the cursor rolls on. The bay stays tense, but Kale has taken the drone out of the fight.

Disable the search drone

Kale quickly uses Rusk's distraction to access the new data. He gets what he can and heads carefully toward the exit. Keeping Rusk in his line of sight.

Kale slips the stolen copy into his inner cache while his attention stays split, half on the terminal, half on Rusk’s shoulders. The medical wing access log opens into a cleaner index, names, timestamps, and clearance flags scrolling fast enough to sting his optics.

Kale Kaotic Veyl

Medical wing. Executive clearance. Same transfer window.

He pulls the key details in one tight sweep, then kills his reach before the system can linger on him. The terminal keeps talking to itself, but the relevant thread is already in his head.

Kale shifts toward the exit with measured steps, never letting Rusk leave his peripheral. The gate seam grinds lower, leaving a hard strip of light and a narrowing path beyond it.

Rusk

Rusk

Don’t move like you own the floor.

The Stranger’s ocular implants flick once toward Kale, then back to the closing gap, as if weighing whether the door or the enforcer will fail first.

The Courier

The Courier

He’s got what he came for. Back off, Rusk.

✓ Quest Accepted

Escape the loading bay before the gate closes

Immediately, Kale quickly and stealthily dashes through the gate before it closes.

Kale launches for the seam, low and fast, chrome shoulders clipping the edge of the shrinking light. His boot catches on a rib of torn floor plating, and the dash turns into a violent stumble instead of a clean slip through.

He slides to one knee at the threshold, one hand slamming the deck to stop the fall. The gate grinds down another notch, pinning his route to a bright slit barely wide enough for a blade.

Rusk

Rusk

There he is. Hold him.

Rusk swings his carbine toward the gap, forcing Kale to flatten harder against the floor instead of clearing it. The inert drone hangs dead above them, dark eye reflecting the terminal’s scrolling medical log.

The Courier

The Courier

Kale, move, now.

The Stranger checks the seam, then the weapon, his ocular implants flicking like they are measuring fractions of a second. He plants himself on the far side of the narrowing exit, too close to vanish, too late to ignore.

The Stranger

The Stranger

That gate is done with you. Pick a side.

Immediately, Kale quickly and stealthily dashes through the gate before it closes.

SUCCESS (Good Agility, rolled +2)

Kale slips the seam on instinct, shoulders flattening and head ducked low as the gate chews past him with a metal shriek. He clears the threshold and lands hard on the far side, outside the loading bay.

Behind him, the slit snaps shut with a final grind, cutting Rusk off at the knees of the opening. The beam of light vanishes, and the terminal glow stays trapped inside the bay.

Rusk

Rusk

No. Stop him.

Rusk lunges at the sealed gate and skids short, carbine still up, anger turning his face sharp in the reflected spill from the corridor.

The Stranger

The Stranger

Too late.

The Stranger remains on Kale’s side of the exit, ocular implants ticking as he checks the corridor beyond the bay. His hand lifts once, not quite a wave, more a warning to keep moving.

Kale Kaotic Veyl

Kale Kaotic Veyl

The gate is closed. I am out.
