O'Malley's Irish Pub is hit like a punch to the gut. The front windows are gone, bar stools lie splintered across the floor, and beer slicks the boards under a haze of ozone.

Scott O'Malley steps into the wreckage as Patrick O'Malley blurs at a support beam, hammering it back into place with frantic speed.

Across the room, Darcy O'Donnell braces under a collapsed ceiling section, muscles straining as the main tap line creaks beneath the weight.

Outside, regulars gather behind the broken frontage, peering in with worried faces and checking their watches for the evening rush.

The ceiling is still shifting.

Somewhere deeper in the pub, a fresh crack pops through the wood, and both Patrick and Darcy look straight to Scott for the next move.

Scott plants himself under the sagging ceiling section and takes the weight. The boards above him stop groaning for a beat, held steady by sheer force.

Darcy shoves the trapped tap line free with a sharp wrench, and the pipe lurches back into place. Beer stops spilling from the shattered fittings.

Patrick drives the support beam tight with fast, precise blows. The crack in the wood floor stops spreading, leaving only a tense silence and dust drifting down.

From the entrance, the worried regulars lean in, seeing the pub's frame hold under Scott's grip. The damage still looks ugly, but the worst of the collapse no longer threatens to bring the place down tonight.

Scott keeps the beam pinned while he jerks his chin toward the broken front. Darcy nods once and moves for the entrance.

A fresh gust slips through the open doorway, rattling the hanging sign and pushing dust across the threshold. Darcy glances out at the street, then back to Scott, waiting for him to hold or press the next corner.

Scott plants his shoulder into the corner and the frame stops shivering. Darcy leans into the joint and drives the nail the rest of the way home.

The cracked timber answers with a dull, solid thunk instead of a groan. For the first time since the collapse, the doorway sits square.

A final gust shoves at the entrance, but the repaired corner barely gives. Dust lifts, then settles in a thin gray curtain over the threshold.
