Xem steps over the threshold. The sigil on the wall burns brighter, not as a lock, but as an anchor, its lines chained deep into the stone around the chamber.

The violet aura buckles, and the voice hangs in the air with it, suddenly less like a guide and more like a prisoner's plea.

Another pane fractures, and in the jagged surface Xem sees not a prison for himself alone, but a lock meant to keep the world from seeing what it had become.
