Cold stone presses Xem's back. His eyes open to a chamber of impossible white masonry, glowing softly as if lit from within. For one dizzy breath, he knows only the slab beneath him, the hush, the ache of waking.
A voice arrives inside his mind, urgent and distant at once. Fragments strike like broken mirrors, a creator god, a lost life, a world sinking toward shadow. The memory slips before it can settle.
The room begins to hum. Low vibrations ripple through the walls, and pale dust shivers loose from the seams in the stone.

The Voice
Xem, listen. You are not what was made to sleep here. You are what was made to wake.

The Voice
Above us, the world is failing. Find your power. Find your name. Move, before the dark reaches this door.
At the far end of the chamber, the heavy stone door grinds upward on hidden weight, slow and grinding, releasing a slit of black corridor beyond.

The Voice
Choose quickly, Xem. Rise and go, or wait and learn what comes through first.

Learn whether the Voice is obscuring the truth
“I press my palms against the glowing wall to feel for a hidden seal.”
SUCCESS (Good Perception, rolled +1)

Xem presses both palms to the glowing stone. The warmth answers him at once, and a thin seam of light wakes beneath his hands.

Xem
There is a hidden line here.
The rune-bright wall yields a pulse, not a crack, and a buried sigil surfaces under his fingers, old as the chamber itself.

The Voice
Good. You feel it now. The seal is tied to you.
The voice softens, almost reverent, and the corridor at the door darkens as dust drifts between the stones.

The Voice
Your name is here, waiting. But if I give it to you, you may remember what I have hidden.
The hidden sigil brightens under Xem's hands, and the chamber seems to hold its breath.
“I press the sigil for a memory”
SUCCESS (Good Willpower, rolled -1)

Xem presses his palm harder into the sigil. Light threads up his arm, and the chamber falls away for a breath.

Xem
A name rings against the blankness, older than the chamber.
A white room flashes behind his eyes, featureless and cold, with a whisper circling it like smoke.

The Voice
Do not chase that memory. It was taken from you for a reason.
The warning twists the vision. Beneath it, a second feeling stirs, a deliberate hand over a wound, hiding something sharp.

The Voice
Your first name was buried with your power. If you remember too much at once, you will lose yourself again.
The sigil burns bright, and one clear word lands in Xem's mind like a struck bell, not the whole truth, but enough to follow.
